Man, your knowledge and tips about limiters and clippers, the transfer curves for example, is such a rare thing to hear here on youtube. Thanks for sharing the word!
Brilliant video Nicholas! That song provided a wonderful example of what to listen for, and the challenges with trying to preserve weight and sub while getting the song in the pocket. I've never used the Vintage Limiter like that, but now I'm inspired. When I've needed to inflate lower level material without affecting peaks I've been using the Gold Clip Gold parameter, which does a good job too. Between the modern (short knee) and the more aggressive classic mode (long knee), it can work well. 2.5 dB of max boost in the transfer curve for modern and 6 dB for classic, so you can do some more heavy-handed duties Thanks for the video, as always. Lots of great takeaways from this one!
You know, I’ve been doing this for a good while and I couldn’t believe how good the vintage limiter was at bringing up the rms in a transparent way, then the maximiser for the final loudness but I’m glad that people are using the vintage limiter more because it’s seriously useful (it’s also a. Great parallel compressor in mixing)
@@panorama_mastering I love it on the tube style with working extremely subtly (like 0.5 db to 1 db at most) just to catch the tops of the transients so the maximiser doesn't have to work too hard. have you messed around with the Elevate mastering bundle by newfangled audio? (it's on a really good sale right now on plugin boutique)
I think youd love reaper. Super well coded and its very light on its feet. You can solo a delta signal with one click on any track or plugin- and oversample any plugin you want.
Yeap! I cut my teeth on both ProTools and Reaper as an assistant (We'd do all capturing and assembly inside reaper)... I'm just too used to pro-tools to ever switch back over
This video saved my life last night. jaja barely kidding. Have had a problem master & I couldn't work it out for a couple days, even after watching a few other videos & trying all my regular tricks the kick was still destroying my master. This fixed it!
Definitely add ozone clarity on transient mode before hitting the limiter. So the master dynamics are musical especially for this song with those bubble sounds.
I keep forgetting how the IRC modes work. I watched your video when it came out, also worked through the manual once. Doesn't stick easily. But with the delta modes it is a lot more tangible to get a sense of what is happenning. I should fresh up on it again...
It's a bit of a dicey concept; I think the reason it's stuck easily with me is because I forced myself to research and note-take for the sake of creating the video!
Do you recommend using the analog type on the vintage limiter? It has a slower release ik that much, is it bec you don’t want to break the low end apart?

Yeah; it's been great in small doses; I don't need to drive it hard AT ALL!

I switched to Reaper about three years ago and never looked back, I love it, the perfect daw for me 😀

You are fabulous ❤
I REALLY needed this. Thank you
You are so welcome!

Glad it helped!
Will be trying that out today, thank you.
Awesome, let me know how you go!
Been binging your videos lately, it's a wealth of knowledge. Would love to see a video on the new Maselec eq plugin, I am personally blown away by it!
Awesome; thanks for watching! Not sure if I'll be doing anything with the MasEQ
Have you tried DMG limitless? It seems to be the best at maintaining the tonal balance, even more extreme settings
NO! I haven't. I should. Possibly in the future!

Ooo! Clarity on transient mode; nice little nod there; I'll have to try it!
@@panorama_mastering nice! Give it a try
on more of a production note i made the mistake of trying out the big sky reverb plugin. it sounds amazing.
haha wonderful!
Great vid mate, i really need to update my Ozone as it looks as if it's really grown a lot.
Yeap big changes across 11!
thank you! you're the best
You're welcome!
Great stuff! Insightful tutorial, as per usual
Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed it!

Would love to see a video where you take a look at the new TDR Special Filters and when you might use these for mastering vs other tools.
thanks for that tip. i allways had that problem XD
Happy to help!
Awesome 🔥🔥🔥 very cool
Cool ideas brewing off the back of this ;)
Thanks
No problem
what low-end?
Song name ??
Something About U ~ Dugong JR
Good stuff..
Thank you!
so the trick is a plugin
No, it's listening to the delta of your limiter, and considering how different modes/settings interact with the signal.
what have you done on your voiceover here it sounds super codecy and almost synthesized...
hahahaha..that music
Pity the song is terrible. Could you show on a busy dance mix?
There’s that *** talk again.
A song being appealable or not is subjective. So saying one is terrible is a terrible opinion literally LOL
