This song is about a father who left his wife and children for another woman. But in the midst of his ordeal, he suddenly remembers his child crying and saying, “Daddy please come back!” “Se daddy toe sau!” He begins to feel guilty and ashamed and laments what he’d done. He begs Jesus his Lord, for forgiveness. He remembers the fires of Sheol and eternal separation from God and this makes him afraid of dying in his sin. So he pleads with God for a second chance at his marriage. He prays that he and his wife’s relationship will be restored to the way things were. In the song, he honors the woman for being a godly wife. For being a blessed woman for whom eternity awaits. Throughout the whole ordeal, it’s the voice of the child that becomes the motivation for him to return home, which brings the whole restoration and redemption story to a good ending! Wow, Suliveta was quite the lyricist. The song was written by a Christian Pastor back in the 80s. Somewhat of a redemption story! Not sure if it was based on pastor’s own personal life or just life in general, as the subject matter is pretty universal in nature. It was very popular on the radio in Samoa, back in the day. And I must add that Mr. Cowboy has elevated this Samoan classic to another level. Great job man.
@@emilykidwellarcher2629, you’re very welcome. If you’re interested, I’ve also written somewhat of a lose translation of his other song, “E Le O Au O Se Fufulu Ulo!”, which is quite difficult to translate into English, word for word... I also shed some light, on a different post, on the cultural context from which that song is written.
