If God's glory is his "ifninite, worthy, valuable perfection," then why does the Bible talk about the glory of men, animals and objects? And how can we "give glory" to him, if his glory is infinite and perfect? The glory of something is the full expression of itsself, or "full weight." This is important, because God does not do anything, (as the Calvinist supposes) "to the praise of his glory." That would be boasting, and love does not vaunt itself. But he does things, "to the praise of the glory of his grace," making us who first trusted in Christ, "to the praise of his glory." It is our trust that gives praise to God's glory, and his saving us, that gives praise to the glory of his grace. Our salvation makes the "full weight" of his grace known, and we give him glory by fully trusting in him for salvation. The Calvinist reduces God's glory to a fatalisting need to vaunt himself, making himself known by showing off to himself, rather than acting always in love for others. Rememeber, God revealed himself as three persons from the beginning. He was always acting out of love. Proverbs 8 says that the Spirits delight was in the sons of men, therefore, it would satisfy God to save them, to the delight of his spirit. If you don't believe God is most glorified in Christ dying for every man, then you don't know the God of the Scripture. Please consider this.
I'd love to see someone press John Piper on this -- especially because it's the rationale behind his notion of hell, limited atonement, and double-predestination. It seems Piper's definition of "glory" is subjective - it's about who is seeing it. This begs a lot of questions, but perhaps the most obvious one is why that's a morally justifiable reason to (in Piper's view) send people to hell. It seems extremely selfish and narcissistic, doesn't it? What if, rather, we see God's glory as an aspect of the undeniable truth that "God is love" - and see his desire to be glorified in light of his love for us -- rather than using it as a canard to justify a view in which God's love is withheld from a great many? This is more than a little unfair given how bare Piper's explanation was in this video. He didn't mention hell at all, let alone love or justice. I'm only writing this because of how often he (and other Calvinists) fall back on "God's glory" as the moral grounding for a view that most other Christians find morally repugnant.

His perfect goodness (forgiveness, grace and mercy)embodied through his presence (permanent residence -Shekinah glory) manifested in his power.
If we Christians truly glorify God, they won't be looking at us. But we saints are also sinners and just cannot help but focus on ourselves. We glorify God in ways we believers do not see. But let us not focus on what we do but be reminded that despite our unworthiness, it is God's desire to save us to live with Him forever. Can God be more glorified than he already is.
If God's glory is his "ifninite, worthy, valuable perfection," then why does the Bible talk about the glory of men, animals and objects? And how can we "give glory" to him, if his glory is infinite and perfect? The glory of something is the full expression of itsself, or "full weight."
This is important, because God does not do anything, (as the Calvinist supposes) "to the praise of his glory." That would be boasting, and love does not vaunt itself. But he does things, "to the praise of the glory of his grace," making us who first trusted in Christ, "to the praise of his glory." It is our trust that gives praise to God's glory, and his saving us, that gives praise to the glory of his grace. Our salvation makes the "full weight" of his grace known, and we give him glory by fully trusting in him for salvation.
The Calvinist reduces God's glory to a fatalisting need to vaunt himself, making himself known by showing off to himself, rather than acting always in love for others. Rememeber, God revealed himself as three persons from the beginning. He was always acting out of love. Proverbs 8 says that the Spirits delight was in the sons of men, therefore, it would satisfy God to save them, to the delight of his spirit.
If you don't believe God is most glorified in Christ dying for every man, then you don't know the God of the Scripture. Please consider this.
Is the Glory of God Uncreated DEITY?
I'd love to see someone press John Piper on this -- especially because it's the rationale behind his notion of hell, limited atonement, and double-predestination. It seems Piper's definition of "glory" is subjective - it's about who is seeing it. This begs a lot of questions, but perhaps the most obvious one is why that's a morally justifiable reason to (in Piper's view) send people to hell. It seems extremely selfish and narcissistic, doesn't it?
What if, rather, we see God's glory as an aspect of the undeniable truth that "God is love" - and see his desire to be glorified in light of his love for us -- rather than using it as a canard to justify a view in which God's love is withheld from a great many?
This is more than a little unfair given how bare Piper's explanation was in this video. He didn't mention hell at all, let alone love or justice. I'm only writing this because of how often he (and other Calvinists) fall back on "God's glory" as the moral grounding for a view that most other Christians find morally repugnant.
God's glory:

The glory found in God's earthly creation &
The glory found in the heavenly creation &
And, the glory of God himself

Thus, the awe-inspiring qualities and attributes of His creation demonstrate the brilliant glory of God while God himself is glorious and beyond compare.
