Just watched one of your videos regarding fixing corrupt files. I spent a couple of hours yesterday videoing, and when I got home and tried to download my footage, I got 3 out of the 4 videos that were ok, but I got a corrupt message for the 4th video. After watching your video, I now have my 4th video. Thanks again. I have subscribed, and I will be passing your youtube channel on. Thanks again.👍
A couple more tips. Write the date of purchase on the battery. This is useful when you have several purchased at different times. Typically old batteries do not retain their charge as long as new units. Secondly, do not leave batteries in a discharged state for extended periods (e.g. 12 months). Once the charge has diminished to a too low level, you may not be able to charge it up again.
Advices by DJI is to cycle at least every 3 months. Route 1 to battery death is leaving them unattended for too long... Also don't forget the Controller
I also put a number on my batteries as in #1, #2, #3. That way I know that I am not always using the same battery over and over again for short flight periods.

It’s also worth pointing out that it’s not just the financial loss, there will come a time when you can no longer source a battery for your drone, and this will happen much sooner than you think. As an example in my fleet I have a Spark, a very popular little drone. I’ve only owned it three years and yet batteries for this little drone are now very thin on the ground, and those that are out there will have been sitting idle on a shelf for at least 18months. It’s for this reason I’ve chosen to go back to building my drones because there’s no shortage of suitable hobby RC LiPo’s and in general they don’t have the same insane markup as OEM inkjet cartridges. Nidge.
It was weird to see that my batteries self depleted a few days after charging. But I am thankful they have that built it to help the battery last longer. It shows that DJI cares about their product and our safety vs selling more and more batteries.
I go a couple of steps more with numbering my batteries. I have a number on each but I also have elastic bands that tell me which one was last used and it also helps to know which has been cycled the most, that way it naturally evens out. If thats not enough I also have an EXCEL spreed sheet to keep track of flight times and depletion rates, charge times and high temperature reached during flight

Leaving your batteries at 30% also means they're gonna charge up quicker when you need them? Surely better to get the fly more combo and keep a battery unused, for the saving you make? Excellent video. It's a shame that electronics manufacturers (including makers of quadcopters) do not provide battery management tips - best recharge cycles, best battery levels, max draw down, don't store fully charged, careful of heat - but then, they make money selling replacement batteries :)
My question, is: you just finished flying your 3 bat to almost 8%..... you got home after 40 mins. You have your charger pad. That can charge three bat. After all three batteries are charge. Can you leave them plugged in the charger ? Let’s say for three days without going to fly?
Not sure id do that, heard phone batteries shouldnt be left charging over night as they will drop in charge a little then top up over n over again? Not sure if this applies to drone batteries too but......?!
Thanks for the comment, I definitely wouldn't. I'd plug them in and charge them to 2/3 lights, then disconnect. Then charge them up ready before I'm actually going to go flying.

Great advice! "My wife" crashed my Mavic 2 some days ago but that's a tank of a drone so it just needed 2 new propellers. But the top of the battery got a bit scratchy. All works fine but can it have taken damage? The battery I mean.
Another one is check your batteries every 3 months if not in use. The Batteries continue to slowly discharge after they reach the auto discharge point. If this is left to long you will either damage the battery or get a cell so far out of balance that you will get the faulty battery warning that prevents you from talking off. Cycling many times will sometimes fix this problem. The internal balance circuit is not good at balancing large gaps in charge.
Thanks Brian, this does happen but LiPo's don't discharge very rapidly at all, even after 3 months a battery can hold most of it's charged capacity. Thanks for the comment!
@@Droning-ON That is true of non smart batteries. I check and storage charge my "Normal" batteries every 12 to 18 months. Unfortunately with DJI smart batteries the smart monitor circuit is always online. It is this circuit that slowly discharges the batteries to dangerous levels. This is why DJI recommend you charge them every 3 months in their documentation. Also if you do have batteries in storage, do not trust the Light indictors by pressing the power button once. It keeps the indicators at the level they were when the self discharge circuit completed, so you get 2 on and one flashing. As soon as you put in on the charger it will show 25%, 1 light on. This is after 3 months of storage. 4-5 months I have lost batteries due to being tardy. (Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro+) p.s. DJI actual use LiHV chemistry in their batteries. This is one of the reasons that people get confused when judging charge levels from the GO of Fly application. Cheers Good video and reference. I will use it in some of my online "discussions" :)
I was always taught to completely discharge the batteries and charge them again to 100% at least 3 times, so that the battery would last. So it's exactly the opposite?
That would apply to NiMH batteries but not to LiPo because they don't have the "memory effect'" issue. Lithium Polymer batteries should never ever be completely discharged. Charging them to 100% is absolutely fine when you're going to fly.
Yes, they partially self deplete to protect the battery. On several of the DJI drones you can select the number of days before self depletion begins, but not on the MA2, if I remember correctly.
I have 3 Mavic Pro 2 batteries. They have never been misused. All 3 are swollen. The bottom line is DJI batteries are absolute junk. I will never buy anything from DJI again.

I wouldn't leave batteries plugged into a charger as that's a fire risk. Charge them up partially to 2 lights, then disconnect - then charge them just before you're heading off to fly. Thanks for your comment!

Yes that's very very true, and trying to replace the internal battery within one of these DJI hard-cases would be very complex!

Yes that's true, they always seem to neglect the most expensive component of the drone, which is unfortunate!
DJI will replace swollen batteries, don't throw them away. Go to the DJI support page and send them an email.

Haha, blame the wife :) if the battery isn't physically or visually damaged then it'll be fine. Look for dents and swelling.

When a battery is dropped from 5 feet on the hardwood floor. It is considered done. It will give you an error message.

Any advice on storage between flights? Is there an ideal temperature?
The batteries heat it rather dramatically during heavy load, so for them to cool to room temperature is desirable afterwards.
Can't say that tip #4 is mentioned on any dji literature...

We’ll fly combo is the value for money ! Take Mavic air 2 for an example the fly more combo cost only £180 extra and you get more than batteries.

Tip 11 Dont use a charger with modified Sinus! It can damage the curcuits in the battery.

I would unplug them as soon as there done charging and put them away
