As long as the fictional characters being found attractive aren’t children or resemble children, I say let people thirst over whoever they want. The double standard exists and it really shouldn’t. The only thing that irks me when this is brought up is when people get up in their feelings about the attractiveness of characters and accuse developers of filling games with “wokeness” and “feminism/misandry” (they’re two different things, but they don’t care) just because not all the characters are insanely attractive. Sometimes a game is just a game and it’s not that deep.
I loved both Leon and Grace in this game. I especially loved how they are allowed to be strongly masculine and feminine respectively and how both of those things are depicted as GOOD. Because they are. I also like how the smart way to play as Grace is to avoid direct confrontation when possible and be smart, use stealth and clever tactics, and conduct chemical warfare. It gives her gameplay a distinctly different vibe to Leon's and is also realistic for her as a character (significantly weaker than Leon and no 3 decades of combat experience). This also makes her impressive as a person because she is shit-scared and not ready for the BS she's been dropped into, but she pushes through it and gets shit done.
