So many great points Jay! It's so easy to get frustrated during tournaments or just fishing for fun. Usually, when I'm having a bad day on the water, I pull out baits that I never use. Try different techniques. Sometimes I get lucky. No matter what, I'm always having fun. That's the most important thing. Thanks for the shout out bro!✌
2025 is gonna be my first kayak bass fishing season! excited for sure. use to fish with my dad and grandpa when I was younger but haven't made time for the past few decades. Love the content of your channel. Looking forward to joining your team if you do it again in 2025!
Do you have a lot of really good points, and I appreciate your internal honesty with the being angry, get in your head is one of the worst things that I myself do. So I appreciate this content. And appreciate the honesty. Look forward to more videos
Great video. Experience is an excellent training tool. The more you experience the more you know which will eventually translate to success. My limited experience in tournaments has so far taught me to slow down and trust my instincts and if something isn’t working change it up, baits, locations, structures, your attitude or all the above.
I tournament fished this year for the first time. I really enjoyed it and feel like I learned a lot that I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for tournaments including learning to fish in new ways!
Great video & great pointers. I have a habit of getting upset with my self when out. I'm getting better at not doing it & i just take few moments to just look around & enjoy nature. No fishing pole in my hands just looking around.
For me the fan fish off was my pre fishing day. I google earth searched the tar out of a few areas. Luckily I got a good pattern and made the big day. That pattern didn’t work the day of the tournament. I had to mull it over and decide take a long pedal to try a different area. It paid off. Don’t be afraid to make big changes when something isn’t working. Chatters and jerks didn’t work for me either. Switched up to senkos and went very finesse with the presentation. It paid off.
Glad I wasn’t the only one with unmet expectations with the jerks and chatters 😅 A long pedal can really take the wind out of your sails, so it’s always a toss up whether it’s worth it not. Glad it paid off for you bro!
@@BeardedDadFishing I was looking forward to my first swim bait bite, too. Alas the brush hog and wacky worm saved my 🥓. I did miss a couple bites on the fluke. That long pedal… 🥵
I’ve gotten depressed about a tournament while prefish sucked , but ya gotta go thru that tackle box n find what works ……adapt n overcome …set the hook brother
Sounds like you made the changes you needed to, and met the challenges both mentally and on the water. Don’t think that is a failure. 19inches sounds like some solid lessons :)
Don't feel bad. I have fished Guntersville lake for decades and have watched the fishing decline. It is the most over fished lake in Alabama. They killed all the milfoil on it which made it harder to catch the big ones.
Man this sounds like a tournament for a lot of people that is in one, so i cant say i wouldn't disagree with any advice you gave out in this video brother 💯🤝. It a shame that the other person didn't get the memo 📝 and quit on his teammates 😕. This is a good point to talk about why some people don't do tournaments. Its stressful and makes you question what you are doing for sure. Thanks for the advice and catch you on the next post🍻
Thanks for watching my guy! Totally agree. Tournaments can be stressful and intimidating for newbies. I certainly was when I started fishing them. Have yet to place in a tournament but I’ll keep pushing and learning!

💯 brother. That’s when you gotta lock into enjoying the experience and creation.
Loved the dad joke bro!

Thanks for watching bro! Always gotta keep it real!
I was thinking about doing tournaments. Appreciate this💯
100% recommend. Slay Nation Upstate NY has a fire trail next year. I might fish a few of em.

Absolutely John. You hit the nail on the head! I’ve learned so much from tournaments and look forward to next year’s trails!
“The big crybaby” 😂 knowing some dude quit on his team will forever make me feel great about the tournament days that I’m getting my butt kicked
For real!! Can’t imagine being that selfish.

For sure! So much that fishing tournaments can teach us. Usually in an accelerated way.

Great suggestion! Nothing like creation to calm your nerves and recalibrate!

@@BucktailFishing the fluke was so clutch for me. Almost didn’t bring any with me. I fish them so rarely.
I don’t miss those long pedals bro.
Really appreciated this. Thank you for the Bible verse and all of your videos. So helpful.
Thanks for watching!

Yes sir! Gotta recalibrate sometimes and not get stuck in your feelings. Thanks for watching!

Well said man. All valid points
Thanks Anthony! 🙏🏽

Thanks RV! It took some recalibrating for sure and worked out perfectly in the end. Lots of lessons learned! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching man! Sad to hear that it’s declined!

Anytime I’m in gods nature I’m at peace wether I’m blessed with fish or empty hooks Ty lord for the day and the health to still go
Thank you! Great reminder!
I can take you to New Jersey and help you with grass mats
100% down to go my guy!
