I think you did a very good review. I am a newbie, I purchased this generator because I live full time in my RV now and the weather is getting colder, so this will be my back up when the power goes out during winter storms. Again, thanks for the video review!🙂
Nice generator. I have the same one. The reason I picked it was because it fits under the tonneau cover of my truck, has good grab handles and suitcase style handle, is light enough that I can lift it myself, has good power, and is very quiet. They used to have an issue with the choke cable not being connected but looks like that’s resolved. Good video!
I went with the champion because i didn't wana deal with the choke issue and heard they had some other issues sometimes but my brother in law has the westinghouse and its been problem free he loves it
well Ive already had to replace the carb on mine. I also had to replace the spark plug as they are JUNK. changing the oil is a real pain on it to. as well as regular servicing and now mine is starting to burn oil. so I ordered the champion as a back up for when the carb goes again or something else goes out.
I bought it in 6/2021. She would start and kept choking and coughing. My brothers came down and complained that I bought it and gave me grief about it. So two years later the battery died and it took forever to get a new battery. No one told me I had to charge the battery before installing it. I have been trying to get it fixed for four mintage. Brothers are always busy. It did run in Jan 23 and I was really happy.
Treat it like a riding lawn mower with a battery. Spark plugs , oil , and etc. Unpredictable times is part of life usually. Preventing something is KEY. The average person the prevent things is life.
This has a floating neutral correct? If yes, do you feel confident using it as a stand alone power source to run drills and other tools? Or do you use a neutral grounding plug?
Can you speak to the floating ground? Pros/cons of that, do you need to do something different? What do you need to do to run surge protector with the unit? Thank you!
Great job on your videos, so informative. As a new owner of the Westinghouse iGen4500DFc, I’m confused whether or not I need a Ground Neutral Plug when connecting to my 50 amp service RV w/30 amp adapter?
iv got e 5000watt ver , iv yet to take it out of the box im going to run on propane 3 questions 1 how often do i need to do maintenance on propane an 2 do i need to clean the corroborator an how often an how often change oil ?
You would need an isolation transformer to safely step up to 240... Don't use an auto transformer for step up even if tempted to do so those aren't safe. Isolation transformers are safe though.
We bought the exact same model almost 2 months ago. We run it 24/7 on our RV with 1 15kw AC set at 72 degrees here in South Florida. Our bus is total electric. It powers the entire bus but we only turn the water heater on once a day in the evening for showers. Doing it this way we use about 7 gallons of gas every 24 hrs which is about 25 to 27 dollars a day. I've got around 300 hrs on it so far. Zero issues.
For people wanting to know how the noise actually sounds, it’s a lot like an idling four stroke motorbike. Louder than the makers or this video suggests. If it’s running outside, you’ll hear it from inside the average house, but it’s not a horrible noise. The only downside I’ve found so far, is it won’t start at all if the battery’s flat. It requires a small amount of battery charge to allow the auto choke to engage, even if pull starting! If the battery’s flat, you’ll need to jump it to even pull start the unit. I find this a really poor feature, as many old lawnmowers have an auto choke that’s activated by the pull start function. The fact is, when you really need to pull start it, because the battery’s flat, you’ll be out of luck. I assume you could take the dude cover off and move the choke manually if desperate, but what a hassle. Certainly not how this video suggests, and is even stated in the manual, so if you make a video like this, you should at the very least have read the manual!
excuse my ignorance, but that cord running from the unit to your RV? Wherre do I get that? I am trying to figure out how to plug it from generator to house
The plug type it has is a TT-30 basically the standard RV 30 amp 120v plug rated for 30 amps. You can get adapters to plug in standard 120v appliances to the 30a circuit which is the only way you will be able to utilize the generators full power
Thanks for letting me know their customer service is bad and doesn't answer calls..i was shopping around for a good one, but i won't take a chance with this brand if they don't care about thier customers who make their jobs possible...😒
Finally received the part, runs again, bad purchase, after having this apart, you can buy one the same, identical, different name and color for one quarter the price.

You don’t need the battery to start it. Just is the conventional pull start… battery is only for remote start

Very helpful, thanks mate!
How did you get yours to show 15 hours?
I just started up mine for the first time and it won’t show more than 10:30 with nothing plugged.
Fill it all the way up with gas. It's probably not completely full. I fill mine almost to the top.
I have the exact model and its super loud with my ac unit plugged in and it fires back after shutting off.
Are you using ethanol gas?
Yes I am.
Acts as if my ac unit is too powerful for this

It’s still doing great no issues after a year

I read somewhere that if the battery is dead, you can still start it with the pull if you’re using propane but not gonna happen with gas.
