Amazing Video
Real reef Rock is great as it stacks well and has the coralline look to it already..
I bought a dry RRR. What should I do now?
How do we glue it without drying it out?
I've really wanted to finally try making my own NSA. Down side is the cycling will take alot longer, so I'm most likely going to cycle my finished scape in a bin for 2-3 months before starting my tank, would you consider adding some of this rock in the cycling bin worth the while? I've looked into Dr.Tims and Brightwells cycling kits, but adding this instead is alittle more appealing
I would suggest adding in any rock to that bin that you plan to use in your tank. Getting it going ahead of time is advantageous.
I bought this from Saltwater Aquarium before finding BRS and it did not come wrapped in wet paper. Feel like I got ripped off!
me too but I'm in Australia so I figure it dried out on the way from the US
Hey guys, quick question:
I have a bunch of rocks in my tank, around 15months old - so it's cycled, I want to make a new 'scape, tips on glueing wet rocks together?
Thanks!
Most super glues, epoxy, and even E-Marco cement will cure under water. I've personally had the most success with super glue (and the accelerator) when working with wet rock. The accelerator is a must-have if you want the super glue to dry in any sort of reasonable timeframe.
@@BRStv Thanks! Do you guys sell the accelerator?
@@StreetArtistsOfTheWorld Sorry about that.... Here you go! www.bulkreefsupply.com/insta-set-super-glue-accelerator-bob-smith-industries.html
Real Reef is like legit early 2000’s Fiji rock, minus the hitch hikers. It looks that good. Totally insta tank.
Please can anyone give me advice on which of these 3 rocks is truly worth buying caribsea life rock Real Reef or Reef Rock 2.1 from Walt Smith . I want the best option for the money and the one that has truly the best purple color from day 1 without added pest
Lots or personal preference here, but it's hard to beat the look of brand new Real Reef rock!
i was given a dry piece of real reef rock and its full of dry white tube worms do you know the beat way to remove the worms thank you
Unfortunately, manual removal is going to be your best bet in that case. Since they're all dead, I would just try to remove what visually bugs you and then call it a day.
thank you i will try that
I am a newbie - He said to throw this in your tank when you get it. Do I need to stick this in a brute trash can with a heater and a wavemaker to cure it for 3-4 weeks? When I get the rock do I need to use a tooth brush on it before the brute? I am sorry if these are basic questions. Does anyone know?
Most types of the Real Reef rock are shipped damp, so you want to get it out of the box and into saltwater as soon as you are able. This could be in a tank itself or a Brute can like you've described. There shouldn't be much on the rock to remove, so you probably don't need to take the effort to scrub every last thing off the rock surface.

I don’t understand. You say don’t let it dry out so then how do I build a nice, aquascape out of the tank?
Maybe a spay bottle with freshly mixed salt water to spritz it a little during the process. Or a large food safe bin (edit:full of fresh saltwater)to keep all the pieces in while glueing. I don’t think that the mortar would be an option in that case but glue and aquastix would be. I’m just spitballin here.
BRS guys, you're the best! And hence i have a query that only you guys can answer. I am from Pakistan where Reefkeeping is still in its infancy and the dealers here arent proficient in answering my questions. I have recently bought 40kg of real reef rock from someone here who used it for some time since importing this stuff isnt allowed for everyone. Now, the rock that ive bought isnt completely purple. Its white in most places. What do i do? do i scrub it? will the color return after i put it in saltwater? I can send pictures of it as well if i can get in touch. Thanks guys!
What you're most likely seeing is dead coralline algae, which will turn white when it's removed from water and dried out. It's going to be tough to scrub it off, but not to worry. Coralline will start to form on the rock in your aquarium over time. You might just not have the purple color right away because of this.
@@BRStv Thanks for replying! I scrubbed a small piece of rock with a toothbrush and water and like you said, it was tough. Very little results in half an hour of scrubbing. Then i filled a mug with vinigar and immersed the piece in it. It immediately started to effervesce so i left it overnight and this morning, most of the white stuff was gone. But i dont know what it will do to the rock itself and how ill clean the rocks later so this stuff doesnt bleach into my tank. Would you recommend that i drop all my rocks in a drum of vinegar?
Lest gooo
