My heart breaks while reading all the stories about their fathers in the comments bc mine is neither dead nor my parents are divorced and i just don‘t have this father-daughter-relationship but i would do anything to have a father who walks me to the aisle or dances with me on my wedding, someone i can actually talk to and share my feelings. This song hit me on another level. I never really had a father.. he was really neglective, physically and mentally abusive when I was younger so I never got to experience a love of a father. But hearing the emotion in her voice when she's singing about him made me sob. I'm happy that she has a father who loves her unconditionally. I'm happy for anyone who does because that is something so special and everyone deserves to feel that way. So if you have a father hold him tight and thank him for staying.. for being there. I hope everything turns out okay for everyone here. And if you dont have a father or if your father got taken away from you, stay strong. Keep moving forward. Keep being who you are and embrace the love of others around you. Sometimes love from your friends can fill that empty space that's in your heart. For me its music and my little sister. Life can be hell, but it also can be beautiful at the same time.

Christine Waters I know what you mean, but listen my love I’ve dealt with the same thing for 17 years but then I looked around an thought of the men in the life, uncles, older cousins, grandpa ect... they have all been father figures when I was growing up. A man doesn’t need to be married to my mom to make a figure in life. Surround yourself with men who have been there for you, I promise it’s the exact same feeling of being loved by father unconditionally.
