  • Ep. 98 MORE MOSAIC SUNFLOWERS and Finishing the Mosaic Stepping Stones!
    This week kicks off with dreaming about finishing the sky and some work on the bottom left background behind the sunflowers. I use some lighter blues for this part of the sky and work around the petals and leaves.
    BONUS: I took a much needed break to Gibbs Garden in Ball Ground, GA and found it VERY inspirational!
    Then I tackled the third mosaic stepping stone using a gorgeous orange glass! I use GE Advanced Silicone 2 as it is neutral cure for all that mirror as well as waterproof. This is the last in a series of three similar stepping stones I will use to make a colorful mosaic garden path.
    I show the grouting process using Mapei Sanded Grout in black, from mixing, taping off, spreading, shoving in edges, to squidging it off, then waiting, wiping and buffing! Then I FINALLY take them outside for some glamor shots and to place them in their final destination - on a sweet little path that connects to my neighbor's house. Yay! My garden path is complete. I few days later I hose off the pollen.

    Firstly thanks for taking us to Gibbs Garden - it's truly inspiring and we can see it coming through in your mosaics. Sunflowers coming up beautifully - the beaded centers look amazing. The stepping stones make me want to come there and jump from one to another !!!!

    Wow your work is beautiful. The sunflowers project has like a frame. Is this a picture or stepping stone? And are you placing pieces of glass one on top of others, or side by side? I love it but I’m confused. Would you please show how is the process of the sunflowers finish? Thanks so much.

      Hello Elizabeth! The sunflowers mosaic took several weeks to finish, & I make one video/week. I’ve labeled the episodes so you can search for the next one & watch them in sequence. It is in a frame as it is wall art. I usually work on several projects at the same time & show progress on all of them. 🤪

      Thanks for your response. I suscribe to your videos. It means you will show the finished sunflowers project? Or explain. After gluing everything what steps fallow. And did you glue pieces of glass one over another one to create effect of the petals? I had work in stained glass windows but now I like to learn mosaics. Happy I found you. You are amazing.

    Are these stepping stones actually used for stepping on for your path or decorative? Wouldn't they be slippery to walk on with such a smooth surface? They are lovely in the garden, though!

    What adhesive do you use to first attach the pieces before the grout?

  • @flowerbug55
    @flowerbug55 2 года назад +2

    Your vision for each project is just gorgeous. Can you tell me how you choose what adhesive to use for outside stepping stones? This project seems to be a clear, possibly silicone adhesive, when I would assume outside would mean thin set. So confused. Any advise would be so appreciated.

    • @mazzonimosaics8222
      @mazzonimosaics8222  2 года назад

      Thinset is an excellent choice for an exterior project such as this. However, I used quite a bit of mirror which requires neutral cure adhesive. So I used GE Advanced Silicone 2 which is both waterproof and neutral cure.
