Haven’t tuned in since the 550i content some years back and some videos here and there after that with the injector replacement for the Z and so on. Glad to see you’re still moving and grooving.
Thanks for tuning in! I miss my 550i and want another V8 at some point, but time will tell. I will be adjusting my method based on suggestions here and doing the other panels. I watched a few videos and read a few forums and everyone seems to have a different method, so it's the case of keep trying until it works for you and just do that from then on lol.
Good work, but don't go from a heavy cut and wool right to Meguairs 7. I was impressed you used that number 7, I've used that since the early 90s...dates back to the 50s if I recall. It's really a glaze though with fillers and ideal for single stage paints. Doesn't hold up at all, but gives a nice slick look if you showing. If I were you, ditch the wool, stick with a meguiars 105 to cut, 205 to polish. Use foam and/or microfiber pads. That will get you through about 95% of any paint correction you ever encounter.
@@SimpleCarGuy i'll give it a try. been struggling to touch up a deep scratch on the bumper but the clear coat create is so thick and after wet sanding, it literally sand off the clear coat and cutting the base paint.
I’ve had a car for just over a year now and not put any scratches on it myself, however I have left it twice now in a particular spot and it’s been deeply cut twice, each time in that spot. I’m going to have to use this technique… it’s really angered me
i love that you included your failed attempt as well. Great video

Probably would’ve used less of that mirror finish. Less is better with the polisher and you can just add more as needed per area.
Looks great those. Especially for not knowing how to do it exactly it definitely came out really good.

@@SimpleCarGuy best way to do it lol no one moves the same way or same speed same with welding which is what I’m learning now.
Thank you for sharing what you learned! Its really helpful to see what techniques you used and how you improved.

May I know what's the reason of mixing the base paint with clear coat?
Sure, it’s so that you don’t have to do 2 stages and still have the same sheen as OEM paint.

If you cannot mix base coat with clear coat how would you do it? Apply base coat, sand, apply clear coat, sand, compound, polish, wax ?
That's it. You'd have to sand between the base and the clear coat.
