    Good video, I was self taught, took about a year to come up with something good, I dont know if I should of gone to college or University for music, maybe but didn't. I never come to RUclips to learn how to do music, I just wanted to see other people doing what I do. I use samples sometimes, but as a rule most of the time I have to add at least 50% of My own melodies and stuff ontop or chop up the sample so it sounds completely different.

    There’s a good reason why I keep my songs held back from release.
    1. I can’t sing, I use heavy pitch correction and autotune for un-natural creative purposes. Although it’s not enough to enhance the tonality of my voice. It also affects me worse since singing incorrectly can cause strain. So of course I stopped and focused more on what was recorded already.
    2. I’ve been told my songs (not talking about the ones on my old channel, those are irrelevant) are not where they should be or finished as far as composition. I’ve played my songs for my friends and family. And it was the same thing. Dead silence and then switching to another topic. It seems there’s a lack of interest and focus going on as I watch people just sit there and can’t make sense of it. I feel afraid if I release my songs, others will perceive my work the same and see it as embarrassing or not good.
    3. It’s all digital (hearing this from older folks). Due to a lack of real instruments and everything being processed digitally, it makes me feel like my samples used, my melodies, or my songs combined in general need some more work to be more listenable for the general public. Related to this it’s about the audience your after. But I don’t want my music to become too artificial. Unless using virtual instruments that sound exactly like the real thing.
    As I know these are real issues with simple solutions. My approach to resolving these problems would be….
    - learn how to play a musical instrument
    - Learn more about music theory
    - Take in person singing lessons in the future.
    - Study and practice more on production skills
    - Once I complete these goals, I want to come back to these songs I made and possibly redo them.

      Do as she said and take proper lessons. It could be an issue with composition, mixing or effects causing dissonance, or a bevy of other things. Keep your head up and keep learning

    I don't think using samples is cheating, but using loops might be. Especially if you take the example of friends by Marshmello, that makes me disappointed 😞...

      yeah when i was a huge marshmello fan and was 8 yrs old when that song came out i thought his guitar skills were amazing 😂 but yeah it's a good loop tho

      @@officialskullfadermusic I'm pretty sure he plays guitar tho. He probably doesn't have insane skills but I'm pretty sure that riff is simple lol

      @@darioparisi6863 yeah i've seen vids of him playing. but i agree, he's not the next Ed Sheeran on guitar or anything😂😂

      @officialskullfadermusic 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@musicbyplv it does show that a hit can be used making pre made loops and samples!

  • @jenssieckmann
    @jenssieckmann 5 месяцев назад +1

    Samples are cheating, haha. I'm producing orchestral filmmusic. There's little chance to get anything on the track without samples. I admit, physical modelling is really closing the gap, but there's a few years to go to completely abandon samples.
