if you'r going to add the boats in you should your nether portal in one of the boats so it feels like you just came in on a ride to get there I love video btw.(sorry if there is 2 of this comment things were glitching out)

With enough people exploring I think we can find any biome we might need without the compass. I used it last season because it was just me.
