Chu’s decision to bring the groundbreaking film to the big screen instead of Netflix. “It was really to make the statement that this story was worth telling in this big pantheon of cinematic history,” Holding said.

Just saw the movie today and it was awesome. Alot can be related the storyline was beautiful. Got laughter, romance, family and more. So happy that this is first Asian cast after 25yrs of Asian movie.

peacelife I liked the movie as well but it's cliche. Was like Tyler Perry's Good Deeds but with Asians.
I saw it today and I fell asleep. Thank god I downloaded it. What a piece of dogshit. Talented cast though. Nora is insanely talented, but the "Asian Asian Asian Asian Asian" drumbeat wears thin very fast. Didnt realize Ken Cheong apparently also wrapped up in some kind of Asian-identity trauma thing. Poor poor poor medical doctor you. And that Henry guy, eventually the fact his dad is white is gonna catch up with him and his "Asianess" is going to be vilified by the tribal purists. Hey, keep those tribal drums beating though.
Yugoslavia here we come. Hope our race wars also only last a sloppy decade or so.

Best cast, best movie, great story, great vibes, made me cry. Watch this!!! It's got some great life lessons that hit home and connect with anyone and everyone! Also, who doesn't love glamour and humour.

Yeah, Chow is one of the most charismatic Asian actors I've ever seen... along with the brilliant actor (cannot remember his name) from Inception.
I love how Henry calls Awkwafina by her real name (Nora) during the interview. I saw the movie and honestly I think the three comics they cast, Awkwafina, Jimmy O. Yang, and Ronnie Chieng were absolutely perfect in the roles they portrayed. Awkawafina with this movie and Ocean's Eight is getting ready to explode in the Hollywood stratosphere and good for her.
If they ever consider casting a James Bond or another similar version of the super spy from a British Asian stock. Henry Golding will be ideal, he has the looks, the suave and that so British accent plus that natural pleasing voice that can charm socks off most ladies. O07 or 008 maybe?

Agree. Binaural beats usually takes me about 20-30 minutes to fall asleep but this movie had me out cold within less than 10 minutes. Cannot recommend it enough. Best sleep therapy I've used in _years_ .

In theatres Singapore is this huge beautiful city that lit up the whole screen. It was such a moving story & it was filled with so much laughter & tears. You really need some love in your life.

This movie is a lot of fun! The leading guy's character standing up for her to his dominant mom is heroic and romantic considering in real life there are more weaker mama's boys who can't stand up to their momma. Great story, perfect casting, great directing!
