    Alright I've been a fan of bowling my entire life. It's bad enough I'm a natural leftie. I'm also ambidextrous and never been able to take advantage because according to A.B.C., and now U.S.B.C. regulation you cannot bowl with opposite hand unless you have an average established and you're injured. Why, then are pros allowed to switch hands within ANY match and or bowl two handed? We need more regulation. Far as I'm concerned all these new generation two handed bowlers don't even exist

    • @notonyourlife7939
      @notonyourlife7939 Год назад

      The speed sensors are WAY down lane, not more than 6 or 8 feet from the pins... as they are in most bowling centers. At that point the ball has slowed down considerably, usually 2-3 mph. The real TV telecasts (not this crap) use SPECTO (or similar) systems that have multiple sensors along the length of the lane, and they give you the speed off the hand, not down lane.

    • @sonofnothing
      @sonofnothing Год назад

      @@notonyourlife7939 hey, were blessed to have all of the qualifying and match play, as well as this.. This wasn't televised, yet we can watch it (much better than a phone recording)..
      Anyway, they're still rolling slowly for the conditions, because I'm a bitc4 and usually throw 17-18mph according to the speedo. Apparently like 19-20 off my hand?

    • @notonyourlife7939
      @notonyourlife7939 Год назад +1

      @@sonofnothing You can't place too much faith in the numbers those sensors spit out... in most places they're calibrated when they're installed, and then ignored for decades. I bowl regularly in 3 different centers, and while my speed remains relatively consistent no matter where I am, each place is way off compared to the other two. One center tells me that I'm around 13 mph, another has me at ~15 mph, and the 3rd at 17-18 mph... there's no way that I vary my speed by as much as 5 mph from one center to the next. Take the numbers with a grain of salt... the only thing they're really good for is telling you whether or not your ball speed is consistent from shot to shot...but the numbers themselves are often comically wrong. If you really want to know what your ball speed is, take some video of yourself, then get a stopwatch and do the math. That's the only way you'll ever really know.

    • @sonofnothing
      @sonofnothing Год назад

      @@notonyourlife7939 that's fair. My og bowling center, wood lanes and all, shut down in 2020. Bowled there since 2005. But I also have bowed in leagues in 4 different houses around the area and I haven't seen any such variance. Maybe 16-18. I haven't howled leagues in 3 years now, though.

    What I wanna know is why on the major PBA events like the WSOB when they throw the ball its always 18-20 mph, 17 being on the slow side so they say anytime you watch these events like today their ball speed never reaches that unless its a spare shot Frankies strike ball is being measured at 14.8 mph if that was on a major telecast it would be 17-18 mph I just watched the Chetah show with Packy and his ball was being measured at 19 to 20 mph I'm subscribed to his channel and he never throws harder then about 16 he's even stated that the hardest he can throw his strike ball is around 16 to 17 mph so why is the PBA inflating specs like ball speed??

    • @RahmesRolls
      @RahmesRolls Год назад +4

      Most likely explanation is they're measuring ball speed off the hand, rather than as it hits the pins.

    • @joegarcia1193
      @joegarcia1193 Год назад

      @@RahmesRolls you are probably right as the ball does slow down from friction didn't think of that.

    • @notonyourlife7939
      @notonyourlife7939 Год назад

      They're not inflating anything... the sensors in this place are way down lane, not more than 6 or 8 feet from the pins, as they are in lost bowling centers. The Fox telecasts use a SPECTO (or similar) system that calculates the ball speed off their hand, not 50 feet down lane after it has slowed down 2-3 mph.

    • @radiatedracer3830
      @radiatedracer3830 Год назад

      @@joegarcia1193 another reason it is more accurate to read speed off the hand is because if the sensor is down lane it doesn't account for how much angle the ball is thrown as well. All it is good for is checking to repeat your shots, not how fast you actually threw the ball.

    The question I have, after watching many, many bowlers and their body language, is this. Is there some kind of "real", tangible connection to the ball and pins when we use our hands, legs and body to try to coerce the leave? I don't know, but I'd like to think that after realizing that we all do it in some form or other, it would seem awfully silly if not. I know we are creatures of habit and we all tend to have some form of belief that our pre-throw routine makes us more consistent, but are we really having an effect on the outcome post-throw?

    • @chrisruss7863
      @chrisruss7863 Год назад

      I don't think anyone actually believes they can change the outcome of the shot after it leaves their hand. And as a fairly talented bowler myself I can say I really only have that body language when there are spectators or other bowlers around. I'm not going to tell the ball to hook more or less if I'm the only person in the bowling alley. Maybe it's a bowlers way of subconsciously saving face? As if to say "I know that I threw it slow, fast, etc. So I'm going to recognize it with my body language for the people around me to see." Or maybe its a way some people cope with being nervous and having the jitters. Either way I don't think its silly. The massive culture built around a ball and some pins we call bowling has plenty of little superstitions and intricacies and I think this is just another one of them.

    • @notonyourlife7939
      @notonyourlife7939 Год назад

      Seriously? Can a baseball player "will" the ball he just hit over the fence? Can a golfer steer a putt after the ball is set in motion? No... at that point they are no longer part of the equation... and neither are you after you deliver your shot.
