  • Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (born December 10, 1830, Amherst, Massachusetts, U.S. - died May 15, 1886, Amherst, Massachusetts, U.S.) is one of the most original and influential poets. With Walt Whitman, she is widely considered to be one of the leading American poets of the 19th century.
Dickinson spent most of her life in isolation on the family homestead. She is known for her unique style and innovative use of form and syntax for the era in which she wrote. Many of her poems as central themes use death and immortality. Although she was a very prolific poet and regularly sent poems to her friends and correspondents, she was unrecognized in her own time. Only a small number of nearly eighteen hundred poems were published during her lifetime.
The first volume of her poetry was published in 1890 by Mabel Loomis Todd and Thomas Wentworth Higginson. A full compilation and mostly unaltered collection of her poetry, The Poems of Emily Dickinson by Thomas H. Johnson became available in 1955.

This woman blows me away. She has more wisdom in her index finger than nearly anyone else I can think to name has in their entire life. She always makes me feel stronger by reading her words.

@@cynthiakreuz-uhr2162 @abdullah hosaini Consider that among Emily D's aquaintances - slaveholders - there would have been: none. The conflict to save the union and end slavery; did she learn the reports of the death toll? : tens, hundreds of thousand of American men. Enthused about all she could obtain of the writing and the life of George Eliot; she would therefore have understood writing of utmost bravery and beauty, Nawal El Saadawi texts in arabic that could only be read outside the author's native land. Now what do you get from Rumi; verses on Sheba presenting herself to Suleiman? hyperbole disparages her speech and culture, denigrates her intellect.Threats with humiliation for her to submit is Xenophobic supremacist hatred of women as representatives of their people. this thing of Rumi and its source in the Holy book falls outside of the Humanities.
'Brain - wider than the sky'. 'Faith..Gentlemen who see'...'Bees /clover...Reverie/Few/Prarie'
spiritulized subversion gets handed on to Joan A, Joan B, Kate M, Kate T, Joni Mitchell. A 7 year old hijabi returned a guitar (given to learn on) because her father would not have it in the house; she told the tutor, her father said, 'guitars are for prostitutes.'
Emily Dickinson, her originality and focus would have saved Ophelia from Shakespeare's forensic scene of her involuntary drowning. Ingesting of Cannabinoids for relief from emotional agony might help.. Loose living on the coast, Nightclubs, offering comforting arms.
