Yes did exactly the same, kings 2 years had them on Flinders trip one fell off and the other the steel bracket snapped. Got my eye now on Stedi for reliability and good vision with no vibration.
Excellent review and as an owner of Stedi LED lights for a few years now, I agree with everything you said. The company based in Melbourne, is also very easy to deal with. That's another bonus.
Great review. I just replaced Kings 7" lights with a set of these love them. The Kings lights had massive interference and wiped out my am and faint fm stations when they were on. These Stedi lights have the quality suppression of a more expensive light. Recommend them.
I've been looking at these for ages now - still a stefi $220 light bar which is 4 years old now and still working perfectly so can't quite justify it yet but the pro X will be the next set. Stefi are simply amazing build quality for the price. Have a 32" king's bar in the roof and it's not bad (cos it was free with a VMS) for spread - that combined with the 22" stedi spot)spread bar does the job well for the price
Have had these on a week and first night I had them i did a perth to albany run which once set correctly proved an impressive test. Have been doing alot of driving at night all week and can't compliment them enough especially with a side by side comparison to my mates kings ones. Bloody stoked with these I love how clear the light is even 1k or so away can still see clear as
Stedi really have thought about the regular punter when putting together wiring loom etc as a whole package. Given me confidence to purchase a set and install my self. P.S still waiting on the KegEsky video!
Got these saved in my browser favourites, but in a 7 inch, as I previously had Kings 7 inch and they were ok for the money. Combined with a light bar mounted to a roof rack, it will be more than enough light.
In the interest of full disclosure did you have any arrangement with stedi on the supply or did you pay full RRP? I had a stedi bar on a previous vehicle and liked it. Very good value. Thanks for the review
Great Review. Going to Stick a set on my MU-X and VY One Tonner. Living in the South West, these look like they will Kill the Kings one's I'm currently using.
I've been looking at getting a set of quality spotties for the Ranger for some time now. After watching this video and looking at the Stedi reviews I'm ordering a set of Type-X Pro's right now.
ill add a foot note...not all headlights assemblies are the same plugs as the 2 that come with the set. PLUS on my Fiat work van the lights are on a CanBus system and you need to remove the whole headlight and tap the wire directly to the rear of the High Beam globe fitting. anywhere else and your letting gremlins in. you need to be on the globe side of the Headlight CanBus reader unit.
Freaking awesome mate. You have it look pretty simple to install these lights. I was thinking it was going to cost between $200 and $300 for an auto electrician. I was quoted $400 from a 4wd place. I will definitely be doing it myself. Thanks mate for saying me money. Cheers David
I have a pair of Stedi Type X Sports for my 2021 Isuzu Dmax X Terrain. Your video is very helpful. I have a ARB Summit bull bar and the squarish hole behind the mounting holes is too small to put the plug through. Im wondering if I have to drill it out or remove wiring from inside the lights?? Cheers
Should compare kings new laser spotties I've had the stedi spotties and just bought the kings ones to try out and I'll tell you what they blow these out of the water brightness wise but not build quality, there definitely built better than the model you had and will last a while I'd say
Nice review. Hoping to get some on the front of my Jeep XJ soon. In America the main three light brands are baja designs, rigid and KC. Baja designs have great lights but they cost 900 per light. Rigid is just as expensive. KC makes an affordable light, but they don't put out anything close to what the others do. I only wonder how the Stedi will do in cold climates were they use a lot of salt on the roads.
I have the x evo but surprisingly my mates kings lazers are much better. I still like my stedis but was expecting them to be better than the old lazers.
Hey, Did you just do the 1 bolt from the bracket into the bar or did you use all 3 they give you ? If you did use the 1 bolt, has it loosened up and is there alot of vibration from driving with just the 1 bolt ?
Yeah I've only used the one middle bolt. Probably will drill the bar out to put all three through eventually. But Nah hasn't loosened at all. And not too much noticeable vibration.
Great lil vid mate! Looking at upgrading my lightforce for some LED's, you just might have sold me on these! Best place to buy in West Oz or online? When do you head off on the lap?
have a set of lightforce 4000k led on the front of the truck i drive and they dont reflect off the street signs near as bad. beautiful soft light for when your driving 10 hrs in the dark. easy on the eyes
They definitely look the goods also anyone interested have serious look at the Narva Ultima they are an incredible light I do 6000km a week at night and highly recommend them.
Hi there! American here that is interested in these exact lights for my 4Runner with bullbar. I am planning to do an alaska trip, but I want to find a quality product for lights. How have these held up over the past three years? Thanks! T
Same problem no matter what brand you go. They all throw the light way too far. Once they figure out how to get the same brightness but only throw it 300 meters. I have a 50 inch light bar that’s perfect but you have to be in the middle of nowhere to be able to use them for their intended use.
Haha good timing. I only put one bolt in through the middle, which ripped out on corrugations last week! Tore a hole through the bull bar. So Ive now drilled out the other holes. My mistake!
@@ryangrayson5289 measure twice, drill once! A smaller pilot hole first (like a 1/8) will help your drill bit from wandering. A dob of grease works well to lubricate the bit, and collect the metal filings- can just wipe it all off when you're done. Give it all a wipe over with spirits afterwards. And if you've got a can of any color paint in the shed- spray a bit into the cap, and use a small paint brush, your finger or a ear bud to paint around the raw edges of the holes to seal the steel from rusting (if it's a steel bar. If it's aluminium don't worry about it!).
I've got the narva spotties but there the 24v version from my truck and I didn't realise at the time but I should've run a reducer when I put the lights on my gu😂 got the stedi type x pro and there way better
Mate they are an awesome looking light, and will be what I will be putting on the front of my car at some stage - my only concern would be someone reversing back into them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Somebody that says IP68 is the highest rating means he didn't understand the rating and test methods. An IP68 rated device can still fail an IP66 test...
Certainly not my area of expertise. If it’s yours then feel free to fire away with some helpful information. My understanding is that an IP66 rated item is rated to withstand 3mins of 100lpm of water at 100kpa through a 12.5mm nozzle from 3ms away. IP68 is rated item is rated to withstand submersion to 3ms for a lengthy period. Maybe my wording in the video was incorrect, I guess I’m suggesting that the IP68 rating is the highest RELEVANT rating for what a set of spotlights may be subject to on a 4x4.
@@WildTouring , the test are different in a way that one is a spray test and the other one is a submersion test. IPx7 has a fixed depth and time.. however, IPx8 does not have a fixed time and depth which means the manufacturer has to specify this. If not specified, it can even be same a IPx7. The reason why I mentioned that IPx6 could be more important is that a focused spray could dislodge rubber sealings which IPx8 would not do because of the equal pressure. For the company I work for, we usually perform and mention both the submersion and spray testing. So if you are not intending to dive for half an hour with your car.. then IP66 rating could be more beneficial... By the way, sorry if I sounded negative.. was not my intention!

Great review. I’m going for these and you saved me the fitting costs cause I’ll do it myself. Plug n play makes it easy

You can buy those yellow covers that helps with the brightness on signs

If you use a regular harness make sure you switch the polarity around so it's negatively charged that's how people are blowing their IP dm's
Excellent review mate
This works mate even you didnt connect the high beam piggyback? Can I use only the switch?
Great effort, shocking result!
Nice one Cam good set of lights 😎🇳🇿👍
Great video Cam, had my eyes on the Stedi for a while. Lots of good reviews and the plug and play harness is the way to go. Cheers mate keep it up 👍

Good chance he wouldve paid retail
like the montage at the start mate good job
Cheers mate...
They seemed to have a really annoying hot spot in the middle.
Maybe it's just the camera
The beam is hitting the road too close in. Light needs to be angled up a bit.
Im going to treat myself to a set of these for Christmas for my mitsi L200 (Triton to all you aussies)
Great video mate, well done

You’ll need a harness adapter for the ranger talk to stedi first but we’ll worth your money
Nice vid mate cheers.
When it came to connecting the individual lights did you have to place female pins on the two pin male plug directly connected to the each light
Thanks mate great review cheers
The best set of driving lights I ever had were cibie and would recommend and I have them nearly 25 years and come with a lifetime guarantee.
Great review mate!
Currently trying to chose between the pros ams sports! So hard
Lexan glass (high end polycarbonate) is one of the strongest carbonates out there and when laminated it is so strong that its used in ballistics.

Nice bit of kit they are!
Awesome vid came and sound advice. They’re a sick looking light! 👌

I am going to get some of these!
The camera doesn’t do it justice but the reflection off the road signs does
Pizza & a bush chook.....defs got the priorities right mate 😂!!!

I didn't get the smiler? I bought mine only 3 weeks ago.
Where did you shoot the first part of the light test vid ? looks familiar

Hi there!
American here that is interested in these exact lights for my 4Runner with bullbar. I am planning to do an alaska trip, but I want to find a quality product for lights.
How have these held up over the past three years?
Thanks!
T
Gday Ted, they’re a really solid light mate. Still holding up really well 👍🏼
That’s awesome and thanks for the quick response.
How has the lenses held up?
How much were they for the pair ?

Good old ferguson valley hey
Still loving the Stedi’s mate? Thinking of upgrading my spotties 🤔
Yeah mate still happy with them! Great bang for buck.
Hi mate Do I need to move off the lens covers when I turn on the lights?
Nice Dmax brother
When mounting the bracket for the lights. Did you use all three holes or just the one bolt onto the bullbar ?
Just the one, and it eventually ripped a hole out of bullbar- obviously my fault… definitely use the three bolt holes!
@@WildTouring yeah was putting mine on now and was hoping to get away with one but didn’t think I would. Thank u
I'm wondering if 3 of these bad boys would be overkill

THANK YOU GREAT DETAIL VIDEO ON SETUP OF LIGHTS THAT SHOWING
Hi mate, i have a MUX-lst with the led lights. Do you know how to wire the cables to the LED high beams? many thanks.
Stedi do an adapter for your model:
www.stedi.com.au/isuzu-d-max-m-ux-led-piggy-back-adapter.html
Great vid cam, but will stick with Lightforce, simply proven in the outback, on almost every road train. Cheers mate.
I’ve compared these type x pro to my htx on a beach and Ide take my htx any day. Get a bit of mist and stedi is very average
Just a quick question did anyone put any rubber between the spotlight and bullbar or did you mount it directly to the bull bar?
Directly, which is not ideal. I also only used the centre hole to mount because I was lazy. Definitely use all three!
I just bought a pair of Stedi Type-X Sport & they come with that rubber.
Do they do locking nuts for the spotties so they don’t get borrowed?
Not sure mate, but they didn’t come with any.
great review.. well done
what track were you on?
Did the stedi smile included? I bought mine then i did not see any stedi smile
nah they're an optional extra
Mate they are an awesome looking light, and will be what I will be putting on the front of my car at some stage - my only concern would be someone reversing back into them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
DAD 4x4 Adventures bahahahaha my thoughts exactly, guy likes to do things twice too hahaha
WA Camping Adventures 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah I think I will need a bigger bullbar if I was to get nice lights like that!!
Retap the old spotlight and use a helicoil
Youll never have a problem again
Do it right it will never fail again
and it will still be a pos.
Nice video, Kings gear is terrible.
