- National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate and MP from Kota, Om Birla has been elected as the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha on June 26. The motion moved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seconded by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was adopted by the house through a voice vote
LoP Rahul Gandhi congratulated OM Birla for being elected as the speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi said, "I would like to congratulate you on your successful election that you have been elected for the second time. I would like to congratulate you on behalf of the entire Opposition and the INDIA alliance. This House represents the voice of India's people and you are the final arbiter of that voice. The government has political power but the opposition also represents the voice of India's people and this time, the opposition represents significantly more voice of the Indian people than it did last time. The opposition would like to assist you in doing your work. We would like the House to function often and well. Cooperation must happen based on trust. The voice of the Opposition must be allowed to be represented in this House."

But not to worry he has form for disappearing from Parliament without letting anyone know…some 240+ times recorded…so this time to expect him to attend every day is a big ask? I am guessing that the House sitting is already proving headphones with translation. Rahul has a habit of using English when he wants to sound important but during rallies he uses Hindi for the plebs.
