These are a must cop for me. Love the history, love the 80s vibe. I also agree about it being the best time to be a sneaker head. I’ve been in the sneaker game for 10 years now, not even close to being an old head, but I’ve been feeling like one with all these 80s sneaker revivals.
These do look very promising, can't wait to get my hands on a pair. Definitely one of my favorite tennis silhouettes. My OG pair is '85 stamped as well but I've seen some from 84-86 production dates. OG box isn't hinged, just pulls straight up and goes all the way to the bottom of the base box if that makes sense. Wide top lid slide that goes all the way to base. No insole stamp on og either, plain white like OG ajko, vandal etc. Happy to see nike finally bring these back!
@WearTesters could you give more details about sizing compared to Jordan 1’s? I’m an 11.5 in Jordan 1’s, but 13 in so many other shoes. Is the toe box more narrow and I should go a half size up? I know you said they were long, but still normal size….on the fence on which to get
I’m so glad these are coming out. I really did like that McDowell’s we’re doing their thing because before he brought these back before Nike did and didn’t need to a collab to justify a release. He continues to be passionate about the history and bring back classics. Cool to see these coming out
Hey, just a heads up. The original Mac Attack does not have a PU midsole, it only came with the rubber cupsole with the 3/4 stitching according to the original nike 1985-86 catalog.
Re: the year, I think the design was completed in. 1984 but I'm pretty certain McEnroe didn't start wearing them til 1985. He was still wearing Nike Challenge Court Mids (which looked very similar but came in white with a navy flash and red trim) at the end of the 1984 season. These didn't have the checkerboard label either.
Johnny Mac was my favorite tennis player back in the day. I never payed attention to his shoes back then but these are definitely 🔥and as a tribute to him I might have to pick these up
Can’t wait for these. Mac was my favorite tennis player back in the 80’s. Loved his competitive drive and the touch he had at the net. Of course I was always looking at his sneakers too on court. He transformed tennis and with an attitude. 😆
It is really interesting (At least to me) that these ones are now labeled SP for Special Project while having the five dots of the Alpha Project line before it existed. I wonder if this was the start of it or sort of a tribute for pushing technology forward for its time. Maybe it was vice versa and the five dots Alpha Project logo idea came from this model :)
These bring back a lot of memories. I never liked them back then but enough time has passed that I can actually appreciate the silhouette now. I was the same way with Jordan 1’s. I’ve always worn dunk lows as beaters though
I think the reason why the stitches on the midsole stops at the forefoot is because tennis players have a tendency to drag their toes while playing especially while sliding on clay courts. That’s why modern tennis shoes have rubber reinforcement on the forefoot’s upper. Nike calls that tech Drag-On.
Borg Vs McEnroe is a great movie, highly recommended and definitely instrumental in my interest in this shoe as someone who didn’t grow up during this time period
So sweet these are coming out! Discovered these awhile ago when Thinking Different released their version of this shoe. They replaced the Nike check with a Blue Bunny logo.
This is such a dope model. Never seen these as i was born in 1990 and they never retro'd before. Hoping it wont be too hyped of a release so i can cop a pair.
Dude, I have a doubt, I'm a volleyball player and I wanted tennis shoes with the best traction possible (excluding weight and comfort, focusing only on the best traction) and I was in doubt between 4 models: -KD 15 -Air Jordan XXXVI Low -Air Jordan XXXVII -Lebron NXXT Which of these models above do you think has the best traction of all?
Damn I'm happy to see this review. Thanx Chris. Nostalgia strikes again for (I'm 48). When I was ten, friend of mine played basket-ball with these. Man, they looked great. Since it was a tennis shoe, it was rare to see it on a basket-ball court. While all the kids were wearing the same shoes, my friend was the only one to have something different on his feet. I almost bought a bootleg pair from Think Different, you know, the one with a rabbit instead of the swoosh, because I never thought that they will come back one day. The question is : when will they drop and if it's an SNKRS thing. I'm tired of getting Ls.
Fitment is kind of tricky with these. I got my pair and I went UP half a size. I have normal width feet. The width of these shoes are definitely narrow. Much more narrow than AJ1. Length wise these are true to size. I'm glad I went up half a size. I'll just have to deal with the extra length.
My dad had these back in the day. He was a huge John Mc fan and wore the hell out of it.
This is where it’s at.
Good 👍
Love the fact that you are a true reviewer, and not a hype man like other "shoetubers". Respect!!

As always, appreciate the sneaker history lesson! 📚

Really appreciate the history behind this model, and as you said… what a time for sneaker heads! Definitely keeping my eye on these.

I'm fresh in the scene and this channel has helped a lot. Infact its my new go to. Haha
The design and the stitching which mentioned really clean

I’m unsure which colorway I’ll get. I miss the days when we got the catalog to know every colorway releasing.
Lovely shoes
I use to cut grass in these. They were my dad’s old sneakers he never got rid of…😁
