The scanner has a funny use case, as it charges fast, does no damage, and has no power cost. You can use it to power level your gunner. It is not a great use for it, but I think it is hilarious.
in the event where a civilian pod tries to sell you out to the rebels if you try to reason with them, you still will likely end up fighting them, however you wont get any notoriety for doing so.
I’ve found that a human engineer can talk them down, though I can’t remember if there’s a reward for doing so. Might be better to just kill them for scrap
Light laser II with a skilled pilot and full reload upgrades is basically a vulcan that doesn't need windup. The tradeoff being that it does no system damage.
Did a run with boarding on this ship and it was insane. Using sylvan, the ranger slug and an orchid , teleporting on weapons and the fight was already over
You should have gone for the Pro-Hull Beam there at the start; It combos with the neural lasers for a pretty damn easy way to kill crews and capture ships. Extra scrap is extra scrap.
Trying to do both to get Sylvan B and C in a single run is "almost" virtually impossible. Theoretically you can both fight Sylvan and save him in true end by at least fighting him before Node 17/Sector 8, but Sylvan only spawns in certain systems (But he can spawn in almost roughly all types save a few), AND you have to be pretty prepared to kill his ship. He does have scaling difficulty depending on what sector you fight him in, I believe he gets a Zoltan Shield by Sector 5, 6, or higher. Also the biggest fear...is by once reaching Node 17 and Sylvan just ended up getting covered by the rebel fleet before reaching him would've just been SOUL CRUSHING!!! ALL THAT HARD WORK WASTED!!! Your best bet is to fight Sylvan before Node 17, but again Sylvan only spawns in certain sectors, so your chances are pretty slim still...
yeah the only guaranteed Sylvan encounters are in sector 1 and sector 8. With sector 8 being unreliable due to fleet interference. If he spawns early on in sector 8 tough you can absolutely kill him there and then use the fed base to jump to the ancient sector, it's a storage check as long as the flagship isn't there yet. But the payoff for getting both, that being..... double Rift Wakers, would shred the MFK Flagship in a matter of seconds. A shame you can't rescue Sylvan first, then kill him. Having a rift waker would make the fight a lot easier.
If you manage to unlock the Sylvan C, I'll be very excited to see you actually use that ship. It's very unique, and will rely a LOT on your knowledge of events. Spoilers below. The ship has only a single hull point at most, so any event that damages you instantly ends the run. It does however have a preignited Voulge Beam that does 4 damage a room, with an augment that can instantly delete enemy shields, at the cost of also deleting your own. So you start, and likely end, every fight instantly with the strongest non-ancient beam in the game. But god forbid you don't remember an event choice that causes you to lose hull points.
Try to get a chain Vulcan or that gun from earth so you can be the real Sylvan. Also, shield overcharger drone makes you kinda like Sylvan cuz it gives a temporary Zoltan layer.
*Gets to the end of the run and sylvan is too far and you just can't reach him before the rebels catch him* For real tho I once tried to fight him and I thought I was OP, had all the upgrades, onboard tech, had scrap to spare, cloak, hacking and 4 harbingers mk-1s, even did a backup to get a few more tries, died all 5 times that I tried, honestly don't know what to do .-.
Sylvan only fires a single, allbeit colossal volley. If he hacks you in cloaking or hacking, it's over. Otherwise, cloak his first volley, and hack to delay his next until cloaking is back up. You can stall him indefinetly this way. At that point the main threat is boarding, if you have a Zoltan shield, doing the cloak+hack makes the fight completely free since the Zoltan Shield blocks everything but his weapons. If you don't have one, you can use an overcharger drone to achieve the same, cutting him off after the initial boarding wave. Hacking might be a problem tough. Getting a defense drone 3 will also massively help as it can shoot down all of his boarding and hacking drones. Boarding with a Crystal Sentinel can also cripple his weapons, but that takes time, as there is a lot of weapon bars to chew through. Once he is sufficiently crippled, use any sort of missile or other shieldpiercing weapon, or a yari beam.
The 'easiest' fight I had against sylvan was with one of the stealth ships. If you start with shadow cloaking as an external augment then you can first upgrade your stealth to level 5 and then internalise the augment. That is broken against anything btw ;)
Missiles have worked for me usually, especially the Elite Chain Kernel. Allows you to destroy piloting, and several secondary systems, then just rapid-fire for the kill.
I thought the Partisan beam looked kind of interesting, so I looked it up. It has the same range as the fire beam, deals 30 crew damage, and has a 100% chance of stunning any crew it hits every 14 seconds with a 14 second charge time. I want to like it, but if I remember rightly, one of the anti-bio runs you did a while ago showed that the beam has to pass directly over the enemy crew to hurt. So you couldn't use the beam to, say, completely stop the crew from repairing shields. It's a cool idea, but I'm just not sure it's something I'd want to keep. If you stack it side by side with the Fire Beam, I think the Fire Beam wins, honestly. Fire Beam is same power cost, slightly higher charge time, still hurts crew, is easier to aim, and still stops crew from repairing systems. Though, the Partisan beam *does* stun the crew completely, so you can stunlock them until they die.

The military train their elite gunner using a virtual assistant program. When deployed in real combat, all soldiers said, "Just like the simulation".
The best part is that you don't even need an enemy to do it, you can scan rooms on your own ship.

The time is upon us. Let’s see how well you prepared for Sylvan at the end.
this ship weapons and crew screeeeeeeams for boarding man. imagine the stun just before you board

The scanner is great for leveling up a weapons crew member.

Just found your channel and Im now going back and watching a ton of your vids. I used to play FTL a bunch but I had no idea about this multiverse mod.
Multiverse is awesome and I recomend trying it :)
Not as easy to mod as other games but there are video guides for it.

No power makes it so fun to use. And can just dump it once you get enough scrap to pivot to end game
Oh yeah, Sylvan's cruiser. This is going to be fun.
Good one youtube. Notifying me of a video that came out 5 days ago. Right on time as always.

Starting this run from the beginning again, finally! Glad it's gonna be a crazy one lmfao. You got this bro, let's see the fall of Sylvan
bae wake up new Spearmintz run dropped

Who is more powerful, the ancient dreadnaught or the sylvan merchant (the bosses not the ships you get)
Sylvan
Sylvan, like it's not even close not even a bit
Even the ship that beat sylvan is weaker than sylvan in my opinion.
How do you unlock it?
You keep forgetting that you have the repair gel which can do 1 point of free repair at an empty beacon.
Let’s go this is exciting lol been trying for this one
IDK why, when you have an elite crew, you don't immediately get a clone bay.
thanks for the video!

I think boarding with some means of crystal lockdown is the only real way.

@@christoffernordblom890 Cloaking Lv5 with stealth weapons sounds like something worthy of The Spiffing Brit...
I recently discovered your channel on a yt dive... I've now been watching all of these series and loving them. Keep up the great work!

The not sylvan, sylvan cruiser.
I just realized, Sylvan's sprite looks kinda SUS
I am the second comment
If i remember correctly, then Sylvan is canonically gay
