I have wonderful childhood memories of summer firefly scouting in Louisville, Kentucky.
And I was thrilled to discover that fireflies can be found (though in smaller numbers than in wetter climates) in healthy riparian ecosystems in my dryland home in southern Arizona.
This video is mostly audio as it was very hard for me to capture the fireflies on video.
Though I got pretty excited as you'll hear in the audio.

when i was a boy mom and i took a train from calexico to mexico city. on the train when we were on the inland portion of the gulf of california the porter excitedy ushered us kids to the vestubles .and showed us fireflys . they are either saying im too sexy for my shirt , or keep out . never seen em since .:(

I fondly remember them as a kid. One thing I miss about moving to Western Oregon, we don’t have them here.
