Friday today and we present you a new video.
We are located in Domokos, Fthiotida prefecture.
It is an Ottoman fortress and was built by Rasif-Pasha, at the beginning of the 17th century. There is also the opinion that it was a Frankish castle, but this is probably not true.
The castle occupies an area of approximately four acres. The special feature of the castle is the 10-meter high round cannon in its northern part, inside which was the ammunition depot, from where it got its name. White stone from the hill was used for its construction.
It is said to communicate, by an underground tunnel from the "ringing well" of Domokos, with the ancient Proerna (Gynaikokastro) and the "Vassilotrypa" site on the top of Mount Narthaki above the Neo Monastery.
