One thing to remember is that Stalingrad was a modern industrialized city with high-rises, and all you see here is a pile of ruins. When the Germans ferociously bombed the city before they went in, it was made even worse when combined with all the oil tanks in the city. One account said the bombing was so massive that he could read his newspaper from the light of the fires from 40 miles away. The bombing intended to soften the city actually made it much harder for the Germans, as all the debris is a defenders paradise. Not only that, but it made artillery and other explosions so much more dangerous. Every explosion would send all the glass, concrete, and other debris flying everywhere.

Yeah Stalingrad was really fucked up... I have seen alot of combat footage and its very sobering to actually see the real deal, even if it is very disturbing and just completely sad. Its nothing compared to any Hollywood movie. It maybe hard to do at times but those people 80 years ago where just like you and me, not just some entries in a history book, they had dreams, struggles, families and hopes in life. And for me as a german it is especially hard to deal with this part in our history. However it shouldnt be forgotten, no one is born inherintly evil, Hitler was also a normal boy once, Ideology and indoctrination, just simple words at the end of the day, can lead to +80.000.000 Dead within just a couple of years.

I have always had a theory, ww2 was not a racial war, but a religious one, as a Catholic it was not difficult for me to see that the vast majority of Axis allied countries were mostly Catholic, and there is no one, or at least in that era more anti-Semitic than us Catholics. Imagine that in Catholic Lithuania its civilian population exterminated more than 90% of the Jewish population in such barbaric and brutal ways that horrified the German troops. The vast majority of Poles murdered were Polish Jews, Catholic France collaborated more than it resisted, the French resistance is an exaggerated myth, I feel that the massive participation of Catholics in the Holocaust was covered up, as well as the complicity of the Vatican with it. axis due to the "atheistic communists" of the USSR and that accepting massive Catholic participation would be giving arguments in favor of the Soviets and communists about what Marx said "religion is the opium of the people"..
The enemy countries of the Axis were the English and North American Protestants along with the Soviet "atheists."
The allies of the axis were the mostly Catholic Italy, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia (ruled by a priest), Lithuania, Latvia, "neutral" Spain, Ukraine, and the Polish civilians. I will never believe the false story. that the Polish ultra-Catholics did not collaborate with the axis when the vast majority of Poles murdered were Polish Jews.

The Russians used unfinished tanks in their Stalingrad Tractor Factory complex while being bombed and fired on to destroy advancing German tanks the tanks would not even have their first set of tracks or a transmision because the turret would be the first thing that the workers would assemble onto the body so that they could defend the factory that was pumping out Soviet armor while being shelled and bombed they are truly a symbol of resistance in Stalingrad and the eastern front.

some of these are no doubt from france, italy, berlin, or other battles in the ussr (e.g. moscow). i don't think there was that much german footage from stalingrad because most of them died or were taken prisoner. i'm pretty sure none escaped. so the soviets likely would have confiscated and destroyed these films.
