My grandfather ( Capt. Rickards) worked for Meyle for 42 years on various tugs show here. Mercury, Venus, Jupiter. His pride was “ Triton” built 1889. Pop also worked on Curtis Bay ( white tugs/ blue diamond/ stack), Taylor/ Anderson, McCallister also. I used to ride the tugs as a boy from 1969-73. Great youthful memories 👍

Truly fascinating. We live right on the river so see boats and ships going back and forth all the time, but not like this, when it was a real working river. I put up boat videos on my other channel, Boats on the Delaware River, but I definitely need to get a better camera! Or just give up on that channel! i just think the boats are so interesting, I want to share the view, but it might not translate well in my videos! I should probably just stick with the dumpster diving and frugal tips on my main channel. Anyway, loved this video!

Lived in Bellefonte several blocks from the lighthouse from 1951 to ‘69. Remember the river traffic sounds well but never knew what they meant.❤️

Wow! Before containerization. Notice the scene of the Chester-Bridgeport ferry which I recall from the 1960s.

Also- Pop would let me steer Triton ( standing on a milk crate, on the hiptow with a barge, he was right behind of course). What fun man
