El Anatsui - 'When you unite things, their power keeps growing' | Tate

- We travel to Ghana to meet El Anatsui and see the construction of his monumental installation for Tate Modern's Turbine Hall.
Made of thousands of metal bottle tops and fragments, Behind the Red Moon builds on Anatsui’s interest in histories of encounter and the migration of goods and people during the transatlantic slave trade. Sourced in Nigeria, the liquor bottle tops used in this commission form part of a present-day industry built on colonial trade routes.
See Hyundai Commission: El Anatsui: Behind the Red Moon at Tate Modern until 14 April 2024.

How great thou art. Perfect opening. All of us can access this greatness, if we are open to it.
It is a great pleasure to experience him and his work. So inspiring to be part of such a special art movement
Heard of him since school nut this my first time I am seeing him.
Honest Man and meanigfull art (commos or trashes from 1st world outsourced to 3rd back again to the 1st world as a art pieces. Seems like recycling not only the objects - but the whole conception of art). Excuse me of indolence - but does anybody know this french song (there is no info in description)?
As an artist, you dont have to have a clear meaning for every element you are using, you just play around and eventually, meanings come out of it. _El Anatsui
It is so nice to hear genuine voices, this song💖 Thank you💚

Cómo se llama la canción del principio?
The opening song sounds like How Great Thou Art, but in the lines he's supposed to repeat the same line twice, they sound like two totally different sentences. Does anyone know what this variation is or what language it could be?
8:59 They list all of the music credits at the end of the video.
You are correct it is 'How Great Thou Art' - it's sang in Ewe a local dialect in Ghana, the country of origin of the artist.
0:59 If you want to skip the singing & just hear from the artist.
