- Een oefenrit ambulancebegeleiding gefilmd vanuit de ambulance tijdens de VTB-opleiding.
Naast de chauffeur van de ambulance zit de instructeur. Bij aankomst op bestemming zal de rit nabesproken worden. Dit gebeurt niet alleen tijdens de opleiding maar ook de echte ritten worden na afloop besproken.
De eerste motorrijder voor de ambulance is de commandant. De commandant geeft aan zijn spitsers door wat zijn afstand van de kruising is, zijn snelheid en de kleur van de verkeerslichten. Verder geeft hij via handgebaren aan de ambulancechauffeur door of de snelheid omhoog of omlaag moet, of er oneffenheden in de weg zitten en wanneer er van rijstrook of richting gewisseld moet worden. De spitsers geven door welke rijstrook er bereden moet worden voor de kruising en andere bijzonderheden m.b.t. de route.

Ik ben eigenlijk wel heel benieuwd naar de bevindingen na zo'n rit... zijn er bijvb zaken die beter hadden gekunt of juist erg goed zijn gegaan.
Vooral in het begin gaat het bijvb niet goed dat ze te traag reageren en de ambulance zeg maar bijna boven op de commandant zit.
Daarbij hadden de 2 spitsers veel verder naar voren moeten zitten, dan hadden ze veel sneller en rustiger de kruisingen kunnen oplossen van doorstroom, nu viel het redelijk mee qua verkeersdrukte, maar als het drukker had geweest hadden ze een mega groot probleem gehad omdat ze dan te laat de doorstroom konden garanderen.

It’s me or the motorcycle in front of ambulance sometimes go slower than the situation permits
It's a safety escort. Speed is not the primary concern. They want the ambulance to travel very smoothly so a patient in serious or critical condition is not injured.
The two bikes in front need time to secure the crossroads, it's why the third speeds down.
You don't know the specific goals set for the transport. I assume the goal was set primarily to have a smooth transport, with speed being the second priority. For example with head or spine injuries, it is more important to get to the hospital without causing additional damage than getting there fast. You often see the third motorcycle slow down in situations where the next intersection is not yet cleared.
Yeah i would thought the Ambulance would have the right of way
The "Commander" will coordinate what the maximum speedlimit at certain situations are, due to safety and to offer the 2 motorcyclist infront to clear an intersection
Even the escort itself is very smooth (sometimes it seems like the motorcycle breaks the ambulance), i guess the bigger problems are the Streets themself xD
just one question if I may, was the driver of the ambulance supossed to stick THAT close to that motorcycle in front of him????

Ik vind het altijd zo mooi dat als er zoiets gebeurt dat iedereen stilstaat en even omkijkt... Dan krijg ik altijd wel even een lach op mijn gezicht :)

When he point, that probably means that we are going to ove over to the direction he was pointing towards, when he moved his hand Up and Down, thinking they mean to ease off the gas cause we are going to slow down, but the one where he moved his hand side to side, that was the one that got me.....

Happens actually numerous times in the videop, I will give you the first time he does it------right around the 7:50 mark, right after they got off the freeway/highway....

Can I ask why you need a police escort? You don’t see this in the UK.
This is a gliding transport (or whatever it is called in English). that means that the ambulance needs to turn, accelerate and decelerate as gradually as possible. A gliding transport is used when the ambulance has a patient on board (and there might also be a paramedic standing btw). The patient might not be allowed to move. After an accident it can be (due to internal injury) of vital importance. It is also not uncommon for them to become motion sick. In short, the G-force on the patient has to be kept as low as possible. The area around and in The Hague and Rotterdam is almost always very busy. The chance that the ambulance driver has to step on his brake because of someone not responding to the siren is simply to high and something they can not afford. The police escort has to find a smooth driving line and make sure the ambulance can keep driving. To keep driving gradually is in such cases more important than speed. As to why you don't see it in the UK I don't know. No budget maybe?

Misschien een domme vraag maar waarom heeft de ambulancechauffeur vrijwel de hele tijd maar 1 hand aan het stuur?

+Fabian van Raaij Volgens mij is dat een (foute) gewoonte van de chauffeur en heeft niemand hem erop gewezen dat je in noodsituaties echt 2 handen aan het stuur moet hebben. Misschien ziet hij zijn fout zelf in als hij dit terugkijkt!

waarschijnlijk omdat dit glijdend transport is en geen spoedrit met tijdsdruk.

You should consider watching other videos and look at their comments. It is said that the speed is less important than a constant speed without any emergency braking.
