Nice work, And you explained everything very well. I think people can take what you have shown, and apply it to any type of gasoline engine. I think ethanol is less stable and more prone to vapor lock. Using non-ethanol gasoline seems to help prevent vapor lock on my car.
I’ve had hundreds of cars and the only car that I ever experienced vapor lock in was my 1978 280z....... I attempted to drive up Mt Washington in New Hampshire and was forced to turn back about 1/3 of the way up, the car would not run! Aaaah the good ole days😂
I know this is an old video but I think you spoke my language. My car is a Buick LeSabre, and after about 7 miles or just a short drive in town, depends on if it's warm out or not, my car does what you described. I wrote it down and hope I can bring this to some one who can fix it.
great video on a huge problem for my old cars. Ethanol fuel makes vapor lock much more common because it significantly lowers the fuel boiling point. I am interested in more information on the orifice hole drilled into the piece of aluminum to build back pressure (3:03 in the video). what does it look like and how was it installed? Thanks.
i myself own a 81 280zx, and despite it being fuel injected, it also suffers from vapor lock. luckily, its only an issue when the engine heat soaks off instead of running, but it still bothers me. thanks for the tips
I have la 2011 corolla and since the summer I have to pedal to the metal and I already always use high octane gas , had spark plugs changed and worked for 2 days, the air compressor makes it worse but no one in my town knows what is going on?The dealer says it could be a chewed wire🤦🏻♀️thnx
I already installed the heat shield and still experience stumbling when accelerating after 7 to 8 minutes stuck in traffic. How do i get rid of this issue?
My holley squirt boiling fuel when hot out of the nozzle thats when i get lean bog, hesitation.car is not even running hot.i may try cooling fans.heat shield is no help
The engine is a 6 cylinder opposed with 2 one barrel carbs on top of the motor 1 carb off the the right and the 2nd carb is on the left near the wheel wells. and not to mention the car is a rear engine vehicle so it complicates some diagnostic theory's.
Just get some kind of metal between those carbs and the heat source. Check fuel lines for possible areas of heat exposure. If not done already, look into an electric fuel pump.
Thanks alot! My yea old small block locked on me yesterday so i posted the cutlass for sale.haaaaate to sell it...im going to try this out real soon lol
What do u think of connecting the fuel line through the electric fuel pump and then through the mechanical pump before connecting it to the carburetor? Hope u will provide some explaining. Bye loved the video 👍🏻
I actually did that at first but since the mech fuel pump is connected to the engine I suspected it added heat to the fuel before getting to the float bowls. I focused on eliminating all situations where fuel could warm up.
Uzarski Designs did you fabricate these yourself? Can you please let me know how you installed/where you attached the shields. I have a 260 with similar problems.
Solid recommendations. Having this problem in my Midget with Weber carb. That and carbs losing their prime.

Nice Self Help video and one of the better ones I've seen.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback!

Good to know what symptoms causes my engine to die after a while. Also your solutions will help my engine problems. Thanks for sharing
getting the manifold coated helps, but electric fuel pump with a regulator that has a return is bulletproof.

good shit! way to list and commit with the heat shields, you could fab some at any angle for any carb.
best video ever on this subject... you earned a sub
How did you install the fuel lines
Genius 👍 thank you 🤞
Good to know when I able to find a 240z for sale some day.
Informative video and well done!
May need a fuel / air separator type fuel filter ( 3 outlet ) with that orifice ( hole ) in the return line ?
Great video, awesome solutions. The electric fan and electric fuel pump are the best improvements. The heat shields are always a good idea

Awesome
Nice Video, can you show how did you put the electric fuel pump?
My sisters 1960 corvair gets the heat/vapor lock issue, starting to think it may be the carbs getting too warm from the engine.
I am not sure how the Corvair is set up, are the carbs next to the exhaust at all? Are the carbs close to the engine?

Mann same thing lol i have a 67 cutlass
Would love to see that ad. I bet the buyer doesnt know you are really selling it because it shuts off and you couldnt figure it out before this video

Great video thanks for the help on my '72
What relay did you use to extend the on time? tnx!

Could you tell me How did you wired it?
Great video, how did you connect the electrical fan? Did you remove the fan clutch?
What material did you use for the heat shields?
I used regular 22 gauge steel from Home depot. I switched to stainless, recently.
Uzarski Designs did you fabricate these yourself? Can you please let me know how you installed/where you attached the shields. I have a 260 with similar problems.
i thougjt i was just overheating , now i know my problem is vapor lock.
+Michael Alingod You get your issue solved?
thanks mate
Rubondo Moralez Hope you don't have any hot start issues!
No one seems to have a Ford in these videos
1:45 you're welcome
Btw i live in georgia lol high heat
Dude: You really need to have your facts before hand and STOP babbling!!
Hey could you show me how to do the electric fan mod with the regulator? my fans are on fulltime I don't like that? thanks
