When you replace the unit should you apply oil or some other lubricant to the upper o ring gasket that seals between the fuel tank and the fuel pump/ filter module. I replaced my fuel filter on my NP Pajero a couple of days ago and now have a lingering fuel smell. I rechecked for physical leaks and all hoses replaced correctly. I suspect my old O ring may be not 100% sealing the fuel vapour.
Very helpful, the only question I have is how did you came to the conclusion it was the pump and not something else, am leaning towards that in my montero but would hate to change that and not being the problem. Just a question is all
My gen 3 Montero turns over but won’t start . All of sudden happened today . I think it’s the fuel pump because I can’t hear it come on .. should I be able to hear it come on ?
Very helpful. Thank you for posting. My Montero's fuel gauge is not reading accurately. Reaches Full but will sink to 3/4 or half tank. Is the float part of the pump assembly, or is the float elsewhere in the tank?
Hello, I replaced my fuel pump with the same parts as you. Before my car would just crank and not start. After replacement the car starts up but it takes a little longer to start. Sometimes It cranks a tiny bit more then it used to and other times has a long crank time before ignition. Any ideas?
@@01170154 I took the pump assembly back out and replaced the O ring. That was the fix. The old one was torn so mush not of been able to maintain and build pressure
Excellent video. I think I will need to do this very soon. Did you have to disconnect the fuel pump relay to remove the fuel pressure in the system? Thanks in advance!
Wawa Iki ok I’ve just had a induction clean and it’s still blowing black smoke but it surges when it starts to smoke so I’m looking at the suction valve now
Did you have any check engine lights before you changed the fuel pump? I'm getting a p0171 and p0174 in my 04 and was wondering if that's why you changed your fuel pump.
great video by the way, did you hear a noise coming from your fuel pump I hear this like vacuum type noise or a humming sound coming from the fuel pump
@@01170154 I mean it's loud enough that I can hear it from the driver seat then going under the car I assumed it was coming from the engine bay but the noise was coming from like the gas tank area.
@@01170154 so I can hear it, does that mean I should change it out, it's kinda loud, like if I'm at a red light and it's quiet outside I can hear it in my cabin.
@@andrewlluen8239 you should be able to hear it before you start the car when it's priming. Once the engine runs it should keep running, but will be barely noticeable as the engine noise is louder
Just trying to pull mine out after buying the car from a guy that didn't take care of it and he's never done the fuel pump... having trouble taking the clip with the little blue buttons on either side. Is this a simple clip and it's just seized on there or is there some sort of trick to taking it off
Great video thanks! I don't have much automotive experience but with this video I think the job is doable ;-) It appeared that the clips that keep the housing together were tricky to get apart. Any tips how how to separate the housing without breaking clips?
Thanks for filming this.
You are the man!!!! Thanks for doing this!!
Fantastic Video!! and Thank You for posting it.

Lube the o-ring with a little gasoline

Is there access for fuel sending unit on the montero 2002?? Or you have to remove the thank??
Where did you get the fuel pump? it says it was discontinued

Is the float part of the pump assembly, or is the float elsewhere in the tank?
The float is in separate part. Under passenger side floor carpet
@@01170154 Thank you so much for the immediate reply!🙂
Saved me from buying the wrong part.
Good job
Hello,my montero is 2003 model limited, and it is not fast,i think its have porblem, and this problem would be petorl?
Excellent
Great video dude, would you happen to know what p0441 error code is? Popped up recently says it's a fuel problem....

Did you replace the filter too? How's your battery charge?
@@01170154 yes I did everything like you did. New filter, pump and strainer. Haven’t checked my battery but it is brand new

Montero 2002

Didn't need to
Can I reuse the the plastic part? Instead of replacing it?
Top bloke, thanks for this! Any error codes after doing this mate?
No error code. Ran even better
good video but i missed a lot of info on the fast part
All one handed😀.
Is Montero limited?
Is the access point on a 2006 the same?
Yes
Thumbs up for this.
thanks! enough shown so we know what parts to procure before opening it up!
Is this 4m41 diesel?
When you replace the pump what was the noticeable difference
Starts up faster and no more engine dying while driving
Wawa Iki ok I’ve just had a induction clean and it’s still blowing black smoke but it surges when it starts to smoke so I’m looking at the suction valve now
How do you remove the motor off the assembly? Do you simply pull it out?
Yes, just pull it out
thanks Buddy!

No CEL, but engine would die during driving. I just replaced spark plugs and filter so the problem must've been the fuel supply
Hey I just got a p0171 code. Did you get yours fixed? If so what was the issue?
great video by the way, did you hear a noise coming from your fuel pump I hear this like vacuum type noise or a humming sound coming from the fuel pump
I heard it, but it wasn't consistent. So I knew the fuel pump was weak

is fuel pump for Pajero 2010 the same for for 2002?
I wouldn't know, Mitsubishi stopped selling Montero here in 2006 but I would imagine the replacement steps are very similar to Gen3
Is this under the driver rear seat?
Under the rear passenger side seat
Is this a Montero limited or sport
Limited

They make a special tool for it . If you don't have that you have to seize them together hard and pull.
wa, sktr 7:48 yg nyocor tu apa, bensin??
Yoi, sisa bensin di dalam filter
push the hoses off with plyers not pull them off , they fall of instead of damaging old rubber!
Is this same for pajero io
I'm not sure, we don't have that in US

hope he disconnected the battery.... very dangerous if not...
muy malo. cuando viene lo importante que es .. como cambiar el fuel pump, entonces acelera la grabacion... y por supiuesto no hay descripcion de nada
