At least in Age of Empires 4 the French receive their historical adjustment, the balestrerie or arbalestero from Age of Empires 2. They could adjust that there, it wouldn't be so broken without the range brace technology! This AOE4 campaign was really good, I hope they add more civilizations and their variants to AOE4
