I love Julie and I listen to Tempo on CBC Radio 2 every day. She is the soundtrack of my morning.
I lived in Ottawa for 20 years and so had many opportunities to hear Julie in both opera and recital. She has an amazing, luscious mezzo voice.
If she'd been in the right place at the right time she could have been a major force in the opera world. Many current opera stars credit their careers with being an understudy called upon to replace an ailing singer.
I remember her "non piu mesta" from La Cenerentola at an Ottawa Men's Chorus concert where she made the rafters ring with her aria.
