Excellent ministry, explaining ancient customs to modern Believers. One thought though regarding minute 4:45: The Host of the Banquet is God the Father for the purpose of extolling the merit of the Son / Bridegroom. The Servant who calls the guests is the Holy Spirit, just as exemplified in the narrative of Genesis 24 wherein the servant of father Abraham went out with a similar objective, namely, bringing an outsider into relationship with the son of father Abraham. Thank you so much for your explanation of this parable which has troubled so many.
I gave up years ago trying to understand that parable. Thanks for clarifying what it meant via looking at it through the lens and customs of first century people in Israel.
This is how all pastors should be and understand that tithing is contributing and helping the poor so that everyone can have a balanced and fair life. Not stealing but sharing and less corruption and more helping each other. Respect and love between neighbor for the good and peace of a nation.

Our “unrighteousness wealth” in this parable is God’s forgiveness for our sins. God tells us we should do as the unrighteousness in the parable and forgive the debt of others to us (their sins against us) just as we have been forgiven by God for their sins.

I never thought the steward's dishonesty was being condoned, but thought Yahshua's commendation of the steward was tongue-in-cheek, knowing that worldly friends would not literally be capable of receiving anyone into eternal habitations. Anyway, Jon's explanation does make a lot of sense.

Luke 8 11says, " Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God." So which one is true, The people are seeds or is the Word of God the seed? The guests that made excuses were the Jews, not the scribes and pharisees. Thank you for what you have shared.
Mat 13:36 is the parable which the seed is the people. Not Luke 8. Yeshua himself interpreted that parable. There is no doubt the seed is people in Mat 13. Many Jews at that time did not fall into the category of “guests who made excuses” as spoken of in that parable. All the Pharisees did.
It seems like Jesus told this parable after an encounter with Zacheous. Who said if he had been dishonest toward any he would repay 4x that amount. A repentant manager would be commended for his new mindset. But, a false repentance would be a mockery to God. And this was a warning to those who would offer lip service to God but not truly repent.
SOME Pharisees and scribes were greedy hypocrites, not all. Watch Hollisa Alewine’s amazing series called ‘Pharisee: Friend or Foe’. The Pharisees played an in incredibly important role being the first to believe and teach about the resurrection of the dead and paved the way for Yeshua. They were very loved by the common people in contrast to the Sadducees.
When reading 1John 3 it implies that God "laid down his life for us" and therefore we need to lay down our lives for others. Where does the writer of 1 John get the idea that God "died"? How can God die if God is eternal and has no begining or ending how can any part of Him die as men die? 1John also implies that God commanded us to believe in jc. Where does YAHOVAH state that we are to believe in the name of jesus (1John 3:23)?
I do not mean to offend anyone. But I need y’all to help me out here concerning Jesus. I am not here to challenge but to open a discussion that I’m confused about. I started studying and keeping Torah a few years back. So, I ran through some commands and I need some help with this. Correct me if I’m wrong but do so with scriptures and not feelings. So the question that is in my head is this. Can God’s spirit violate the Torah? Here is what I mean. Matthew 1:18 “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” Luke 1:27 “to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.” Now I know that some people say that the term “virgin” is a “young woman “ but you still have a problem since Joseph says “before they came together”. Now I was studying the Torah and this is what is says: The Torah is certainly not a fan. Deuteronomy 22:23 “If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;” “then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.” Deuteronomy 20:7 “And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.” So did the Holy Spirit took a betrothed woman and did contrary to the Torah? Also if you believe in the Trinity, then that creates an even bigger problem. I’ll let you figure this one out. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
The first virgin birth was Adam so there’s a biblical precedent. 2nd witness Genesis 4:1 Eve says “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord” And anyway I don’t see any correlation between the Torah prohibition you mentioned and the Holy Spirit bringing miraculous life.
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7 13 Mary was spoken for long before Joseph came. Or was Isaiah false jn his testimony?

Tax collectors and stewards were 2 absolutely different things. Study closely the context surrounding "stewards" thru out scripture. Stewards could become the same as members of the family and potentially heirs. No where is it found in scripture that anyone ever became a member of a family because he was their tax collector. The steward in this parable is facing a serious crisis in his life, not only is he losing his job but his position with the family. He's ruined his name. We see him take actions to repair his ruined name and to make amends because he's had a change of heart. We read the word "resolved"and this represents a new direction for him. Sometimes the best way through a problem is straight through. He's making a serious attempt to fix all he has done wrong and move towards rebuilding relationships with those he has mishandled and abused. He''s willing to take his lumps and that is shrewd. He's not going to lie or continue to manipulate the situation, he's just doing everything he can to get right with others. We often start out with good intentions, and somewhere along the line we seem to propagate a little lowering of the standards and that only snowballs and before you know it we've screwed up our whole life. Sometimes people don't attempt to fix their past problems and would really just rather have it all go away. Well we ask God to forgive us and we figure it's all cleaned up but it's not, there's people in our past that we have hurt. We can't correct everything we've done in our past but there are some things we can correct and we should think about doing those things. He who is faithful in the little is faithful in the much.
Yeshua did not speak in parables to be confusing. He spoke in parables in order to make difficult concepts more clear. It was a common teaching method in Israel. He chose to speak in parables to people because they were not as advanced of students as His disciples were. His disciples understood easier. The parables were a crutch for those who would find his teachings of the Kingdom difficult. Matthew 13:13 is Yeshua explaining this very concept. Think about it, why would Yeshua try to call people to repentance and to prepare for the kingdom by purposely trying to obfuscate the message?
Interesting but, according to Matthew 13:9-16 he taught in parables so that only those who had a true heart would be able to understand. “......it has been given to you to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens but to them it has not been given........”

"He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given." The masses did not have the same understanding of difficult concepts. The parables were a way to convey that in understandable terms. This was the purpose of parables even before Yeshua began teaching. It was a common teaching mechanism.
Finish reading the chapter, not just verse 9. Yeshua is very clear about why He speaks to the people in parables. Yeshua explains what the parables mean to His disciples (in private)- they did not have special insight. They had the Master.

You say at 19:16 that what is exalted among men is an “abomination” in the sight of God. But earlier said that God is the master who commended the bad managers shrewdness…? Wouldn’t it seem more understandable to suggest that the master was/is the god of this world….? As Jesus tells us Satan is the god of this world. And that is why he was happy with the Pharisees causing the “people” to falsify their debts…? As the story CLEARLY shows the debtors are asked how much they REALLY owe and then told to write down a smaller amount…. They were then thankful to the “bad steward” bcuz he made them think that he was letting them pay less than they should (or else if they just knew he had been overcharging them significantly, they’d still think he was an a-hole for ripping them off to begin with) it only earns him favor with them bcuz they think he’s saving them from a TRUE debt. Which is what the religious leaders who serve the god of this world do… They (the leaders) tempt people in to taking blessings that THEY (the leaders) say they (the people) don’t deserve & they tell the people that it’s only bcuz of their (the leaders) kindness/personal choice to be charitable to them (the people) that the blessings are possible…. When really they never owed that much to begin with and didn’t need this favor from the leader to get them the blessings…. But because those leaders made the people feel like they got something they didn’t deserve and that it was a secret deal they were getting, they feel guilty and fearful of being found out someday… so they live life hiding in the darkness feeling undeserving of their blessings…. Representing to us (“the people”) that when a manager comes to us and offers to help us avoid paying what we owe to the god of this world we shouldn’t accept his offer and become buddies with him…. Instead we should tell him NO I won’t sit down and write 1/2 or whatever… Bcuz however much I REALLY owe, it’s been paid in full, no strings attached by Jesus Christ. Or if it’s actually a real earthly debt and the steward is like a real employee of the person we really owe money to, we should politely decline the offer bcuz if we really owe it then we really should pay it… If he then explains that we don’t REALLY owe that much bcuz he had been scamming us with added fees and now he’s taking those off then we can pay whatever the right amount ends up being…. But ONLY with some verification from the person (or company) that we REALLY owe to make sure they’re satisfied with the payment. Christians should pay what they owe… trusting God to provide as needed.
12:29 tax collectors increased the bills of the people in order to be paid, tax collectors and stewards could never be compared. Study the scriptures. Tax collectors would never be made heirs to their masters where as stewards could become heirs to their lords. You are very confused, sorry.
Are you sure you're not confused that you rather are confused? “The steward made his money by adding his fees onto the bills of his master's debtors", and that was a practice in their culture back then, which was similar to how the tax collector system back then was modelled.

And Yeshua didn't just talk about any generic steward, but it was specified with the adjective “UNJUST”. I hope that clears the air for you. The video compares an UNJUST STEWARD to a TAX COLLECTOR. It doesn't equate the two as the same.

Stewards were close to the householder, the "steward" may have been born and/or at least had grown up in the family. If the Master of the House had no son of his own a steward may become the Master's heir. No one turns the operation of their whole enterprise over to a stranger, there was no training programs to train Stewards. The master would select someone from his own household and train him up in a trusted position. Stewards were in charge of collecting the items/produce/money owed in a prearranged agreement, from leased farms. The steward was paid as a trusted member of the family. He had the same rights and privileges as any other member of the family. The steward is not only losing his job but also his family. At the 12:29 mark the narrator in this video likens Stewards to tax collectors. Nothing is further from the truth.
Mmmm... not your best teaching in my humble opinion. How do you reconcile your opinion that the "rich man" is the Father? It is obvious that the "rich man" found in v19 is the High Priest Caiaphas so why would Messiah use the same term to denote the Father a few verses before with them being polar opposites? I could say more but there is no need as the whole premise falls apart if you understand the rich or wealthy man to be our creator.
The unrighteous steward served greed/Mammon. A good steward would have served his master/God. Jesus could say "the rich man "Caiaphus, had a steward." It changes nothing. The parable of this rich man is still a picture about God.
💡 ooook...now I get it! Use money to for loving relationships that last into eternity. Don't use money to get rich. Great lesson brothers!

Or if it’s actually a real earthly debt and the steward is like a real employee of the person we really owe money to, we should politely decline the offer bcuz if we really owe it then we really should pay it… If he then explains that we don’t REALLY owe that much bcuz he had been scamming us with added fees and now he’s taking those off then we can pay whatever the right amount ends up being…. But ONLY with some verification from the person (or company) that we REALLY owe to make sure they’re satisfied with the payment. Christians should pay what they owe… trusting God to provide as needed.
12:29 tax collectors increased the bills of the people in order to be paid, tax collectors and stewards could never be compared. Study the scriptures. Tax collectors would never be made heirs to their masters where as stewards could become heirs to their lords. You are very confused, sorry.
Are you sure you're not confused that you rather are confused? “The steward made his money by adding his fees onto the bills of his master's debtors", and that was a practice in their culture back then, which was similar to how the tax collector system back then was modelled.

The video compares an UNJUST STEWARD to a TAX COLLECTOR. It doesn't equate the two as the same.

Stewards were close to the householder, the "steward" may have been born and/or at least had grown up in the family.
If the Master of the House had no son of his own a steward may become the Master's heir.
No one turns the operation of their whole enterprise over to a stranger, there was no training programs to train Stewards.
The master would select someone from his own household and train him up in a trusted position. Stewards were in charge of collecting the items/produce/money owed in a prearranged agreement, from leased farms.
The steward was paid as a trusted member of the family. He had the same rights and privileges as any other member of the family.
The steward is not only losing his job but also his family.

Mmmm... not your best teaching in my humble opinion. How do you reconcile your opinion that the "rich man" is the Father? It is obvious that the "rich man" found in v19 is the High Priest Caiaphas so why would Messiah use the same term to denote the Father a few verses before with them being polar opposites? I could say more but there is no need as the whole premise falls apart if you understand the rich or wealthy man to be our creator.
The unrighteous steward served greed/Mammon. A good steward would have served his master/God.
Jesus could say "the rich man "Caiaphus, had a steward." It changes nothing. The parable of this rich man is still a picture about God.
