Watching your son on that pile of dirt reminded me of 50 years ago when our children was about the age of your son . My husband hauled three loads of dirt in our back yard to fill in low spots . Our two boys got so
excited and began playing in it . They were having so much fun in that dirt pile hubby didn't have the heart to spread it out . They played in that dirt pile for a good eight years . When they outgrew it , then we leveled the yard .Them and all the neighbor children had so much fun !

Mark Twain said a boy was noise with dirt on it!
My father also brought dirt to spread around the front yard which once was pasture. We had great fun with old Tonka trucks and when the hollow we made with them filled with water we used small boards to make boats! Why are so many children indoors staying clean??

Your kids are living proof that you don’t have to have electronic devices to be entertained. Just give them a mound of dirt & presto! Maverick is ‘King of the
    Mountain’!
AND Belle’s artistic talent may have gone unnoticed if she had her mind on some electronic game.
I’m not saying computers, iPads & cell phones don’t have their place, but I feel they are WAY over used as forms of entertainment.
Thanks for another great video…& even though some might consider your channel as‘entertainment’, I’ve always thought of it as being educational & learning to do things on your own.
Doug & Ashley, you’re terrific examples of how to ‘Do It Yourself’!
I do love it when your sense of humor or playing a joke on someone, comes through…that’s very entertaining!!!

I love that, too, but this time I was disappointed that RUclips added a very inappropriate "ad" which was a 20 minute short movie. It even came with a content warning. Why in the world would they run a thing like that with violence and swearing to a channel I watch with my grandchildren to show them the life of a wholesome working family?!

I see there r some bullies here but try to remember that they r unhappy in their own lives and the only way to feel better is to hurt someone else. Sad really. It doesn’t help them like they think. Their words r empty and not worth reading. Oh got to tell ya…. We had a good rain a couple of days ago and my frogs r still singing. It’s such a wonderful thing to lull me to sleep at night. Looking forward to all the changes in store as u reno ur property.

It's good to have a wake up call every once in awhile. Everyone needs to stop and read their posts before sending. Some of us are more direct. Some of us just want to make suggestions. They are not meant to be criticisms. I'm a retired Nursing instructor and I have expertise in that area, so share it when I can. I never mean to demean or criticize. I just like to suggest or educate. I don't think I'm a hater. I love this family. Most of us just want to suggest not tear down. Doug and Ashley, keep on doing what you do best. I like to think some of the “rude” comments are people trying to offer their advice or a different perspective, or maybe get a better understanding of why something is happening. I honestly thought “I would do something differently with those blocks” but I’m also not pulling them out and seeing them in person, and they are about $12 here so… then reading through some of the responses to those blunt/rude comments I gained understanding of the reasoning why. Some of the responses by other subscribers are pretty mean and harsh too. We should all strive to be more kind with each other (unless there were a bunch of removed comments I missed or something)

I have a pond as well, it takes about 4 ft of dirt above the water line before it is partially mushy at that time of year. Perhaps consider getting some fill dirt soon before it becomes a swamp again. This time of year the 4ft mark is like a normal yard. About ten feet above the pond and I don't have to worry about getting stuck with the riding mower during the rainy season. Because you are smart, you made the work shop mobile and you have already improved the drainage. Keep on making videos for use to enjoy.

Using the blocks as land fill makes sense,
Why such and deep hole 🕳 I don't yet understand. But knowing you, you have your reasons and we'll find out later.

Great use for the old center blocks. He sure like that nappy zac. He is just growing in leaps and bounds and not afraid to climb or get dirty. Brave little guy.

Thanks for sharing another great video. I thought that you was going to make a berm for the pond to help with the flooding. I will also say that it's your property that you and Ashley should do what you want. Thanks again, can't wait for the next one!!

Doug and Ashley, always a joy to watch and learn from your videos, thank you for taking your viewers along, in all you do. It's sad to see negative people who waste their life, and their time, fault finding, and criticizing others, seldom being positive. Probably have very few, if any real friends. (I'd rather have a bad toothache, then have them for a neighbor)

Just a suggestion, when the warm weather comes and things dry out, dig out your pond take it down as far as you can and build up the berms around it. Are you putting in drain tile after the Reno is complete? If so all you have to do is lay the tile to drain to the pond…put a pipe in the ground before you build your berm. Put a post at the end of it so you k ow where it is afterward. Big job but could dry out the property if the water has somewhere to go

Oh dear! Seems like you can't win Doug. Some unjustified brutal comments again. I understand exactly why you buried them reflecting back to your last property and the strong feelings folks had then about the disposal of the chimney refuse. We know you love your property, and you did absolutely no harm burying the concrete. In fact, I think it was a great idea. If you have more to dispose of later, consider using it as a base for a berm around the pond. You may have no plans for a berm, but it could provide some protection for your house & property from flooding in those unforeseen mother nature occurrences. You can still enjoy the pond and access it easily. If you're interested in advertising them for reuse, there usually is someone that will come get them.
Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more videos.

I was thinking the same with the berm. I thought that was what he was doing lol. BUT I will say his property he should do what he wants.

One hit and they crumbled means they were worthless and not structurally sound better to use them for land fill.
