I’m in the U.S., I vividly remember being a little girl & waking up at 4am with my Mom & my sister to watch Prince Charles & Princess Diana marry. 😊 I realize there are bad feelings going back many years, but I am sad & concerned for King Charles and was floored hearing about Princess Kate last year. Charles made a lot of mistakes, (we all have) but I feel like he never really felt loved growing up. Phillip was very close to Ann, the Queen was very close to Andrew. It just seemed like he was forgotten, and that can cause people as adults to make some bad choices. That being said, I wish them all well and I hope before anything happens to the King, that he and his son make amends. As things stand now, it's looking like he will. I feel like William knows that he'll have to give her some level of pomp, given her status as his father's queen-consort, but it won't be nearly as enormous as it would be, should she pre-decease her husband. I wouldn't be surprised if he refuses to let her be buried in the royal vault in Windsor castle, though he'll likely give some kind of excuse related to her children, in order to cover that up. The jealousy and hate towards her is really staggering. Maybe it’s because she is very “American” - she has that vibe, mannerism, intensity, perhaps the ‘American Exceptionalism’ might be discerned in some of her behaviour. She definitely was ‘disruptor” in what was a status quo environment. I’d like to think it’s not all racism. It’s too bad they took a ‘protecting turf’ or this Sussex vs Cambridge vs Wales when she first joined the family. I really believe Charles is a positive presence . His support for the environment, the arts, social justice, and charity are very inspiring in a world dominated by the likes of Trump, Musk, the Kardashians etc who's only sense of duty is to themselves.
I visited Osbourne House, in the Isle of Wight, Queen Victoria’s holiday palace. It made me feel physically sick. The palace is full of opulence, expensive gifts/jewels, in glass cases from the empire. The children had a Swedish style chalet build as a play house, bigger than the average uk home in the grounds. People were starving in the uk in Victoria’s time, & childhood survival under 5 was low. So We’v moved on thank goodness, but there is more to be done. Fairness for all. He did. He badgered his mother relentlessly to step aside and pass the reins on to him. He came up against a brick wall - thank goodness! His mother was never going to abdicate. It was her life’s mission to never put the British people through another abdication, albeit one that was not a scandalous one. It was also her life’s mission and destiny to serve the British people to the best of her ability, and she rose to the occasion triumphantly. Charles will always walk in his mother’s incredible shadow, and not in her shoes. The old saying, “you get what you wish for”, holds firm for Charles, sadly. He is such a decent man.

I agree. I’m also surprised but it is sadly not uncommon for men to- prostate cancer. Definitely need to find a preventative for it. There is a link they say to alcohol but King Charles I don’t believe is much of a drinker so doesn’t apply to him. He’s always been a supporter of organically grown food too, so has had a healthy diet and is active. Maybe stress doesn’t help. He’s sure had a lot of that! I think it’s probably a combination of factors that creates the ‘perfect storm’, which is why some men get it and some don’t. I just hope his time left is kind to him.

I had cancer surgery years ago. I was told that it was a very rare and aggressive type of cancer that had a 50% recurrence rate within the first three years. I chose not to do any chemo or radiation treatment and instead worked with a naturopath and lots of spiritual work as well. That was 25 years ago! My point is that there is always a fear that the cancer will return and there may be several scares from the doctors if they see something on an x-ray that turns out to be nothing at all. I'm sure that Princess Katherine may certainly be going through a lot of this. I believe that she will love a good, long life and that their family will be well loved and serve long.

Charles will always walk in his mother’s incredible shadow, and not in her shoes. The old saying, “you get what you wish for”, holds firm for Charles, sadly. He is such a decent man.

I agree. I’m also surprised but it is sadly not uncommon for men to- prostate cancer. Definitely need to find a preventative for it. There is a link they say to alcohol but King Charles I don’t believe is much of a drinker so doesn’t apply to him. He’s always been a supporter of organically grown food too, so has had a healthy diet and is active. Maybe stress doesn’t help. He’s sure had a lot of that! I think it’s probably a combination of factors that creates the ‘perfect storm’, which is why some men get it and some don’t. I just hope his time left is kind to him.

Hello Maryann, As a cancer survivor, I sympathize with anyone going through it, especially the loved ones around them. I'm cancer free for over 20 years. No Colon, except for 3 inches hooked back up. My Sister in law just passed the day before Thanksgiving of an aggressive pancreatic type cancer. She fought for a year and a half and leaves behind my 3 nephews,one 4 and the other two,12 and 13. I had cancer surgery years ago. I was told that it was a very rare and aggressive type of cancer that had a 50% recurrence rate within the first three years. I chose not to do any chemo or radiation treatment and instead worked with a naturopath and lots of spiritual work as well. That was 25 years ago! My point is that there is always a fear that the cancer will return and there may be several scares from the doctors if they see something on an x-ray that turns out to be nothing at all. I'm sure that Princess Katherine may certainly be going through a lot of this. I believe that she will love a good, long life and that their family will be well loved and serve long.

As a sovereign country. For example we didn’t vote for Brexit but our autonomy was ignored we are supposed to be a country of equality what happened to that. The right for free speech choice and autonomy it gets swallowed up because we have no equality in our values and choices so we will always be under the rule of Monarchy. Unfortunately the current vote is for the reunification to the European republic from Scotland but we will never be heard because we are shackled by the Uk.
I should say fortunately from my perspective we do want to rejoin the the eu and I know we will achieve that in time maybe not in the same conditions we had before but in a new updated and united central agreement.

As a US citizen I've followed the Royals, English history as an observer for years. I've always felt an underlying sadness...the tragedies. I wish only the best for the Royal family and England at large.
Even though I would love Australia and New Zealand to become independent of the UK crown, I wish the Royal Family as human beings no ill will at all. The institution itself has damaged each member of the institution and I feel sorry for Charles and his family as I would for any being suffering in such a way.
