  • Amina, a 3 year old baby with Down Syndrome was suffering from Complete Atrioventricular Canal defect (CAVC) in her heart. Her parents, both from the medical field, flew down from Nigeria to get her treated at Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad.
Despite the higher risk of the surgery as compared to other cardiovascular congenital anomalies due to late detection, it was essential as screened through the cardiac catheterization. She underwent a two-patch repair of complete AV Canal defect under the supervision of Dr Rajesh Sharma, Clinical Director, Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad.
She recovered quickly and was shifted from the ICU to the ward in a few days only post the operation. The little girl’s parents expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team of doctors and staff as they happily flew back home.
