    Great Video, Have had many breeds of Chickens over the years and the top of my list is still the Australorp. More eggs than other breeds and have lived longer than other breeds of hens I have owned.

    • @GKGPoultry
      @GKGPoultry  5 лет назад

      All chickens make noise, roosters more than hens of course. Your heavier breeds like the Australorps are not necessarily "noisy". However, Orpingtons and Cochins are somewhat known for being quiet. in your case I would choose a heavier breed and only get hens. Good luck!

    Thank you for the info, would have loved to hear some actual audio of a black australorp only flock. Living in the city I'm very concerned about my considering keeping chickens and I'm told these are the quietest of all chickens but just how quite I'm trying to figure out? What will 2-3 hens only sound like at 6am as they get ancy to be released from their cage, etc. Maybe a future video idea for you to make for us rural city dwellers. Thanks!

    • @GKGPoultry
      @GKGPoultry  4 года назад +1

      Thats a great idea. Overall, three hens will not make much noise. The biggest thing is to keep up with bedding care so your neighbors do not have to smell chicken manure.

    • @GKGPoultry
      @GKGPoultry  5 лет назад +2

      You can cook the egg as soon as the hen lays it. Chickens can eat a lot of types of plant material, they love grass, kitchen scraps, etc. I have a video of things chickens cannot eat coming in a week or two.

    How to identify that this is real Australorp breed.. More over i also want to know following...
    1. Life span
    2. When they start laying eggs
    3. Do they get broody
    4. Are these friendly like cochin,orpingtons
    5. Any details to share that from where these can be imported to pakistan as i had hardly seen any pure breed autralorp here.
    Thanks

    • @GKGPoultry
      @GKGPoultry  5 лет назад +5

      Great question,
      1. Their lifespan will be similar to most chickens 5-11 years
      2. When they start laying will depend on breeding, you can assume 4-6 months
      3. They are quite a broody breed, not as much as a silkie
      4. Their friendliness will be very similar to Orpingtons (so long as they were treated well as young birds)
      5. give or take they will lay 150-200 eggs a year, single combs, dark colored skin and shanks.
      I hope this helps, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

    Is it just this breed or any other rooster?

    • @GKGPoultry
      @GKGPoultry  5 лет назад

      The process of castrating roosters is called "caponizing", hence a castrated rooster is called a capon. You can do it to any breed, I think it would be difficult to do on bantams though. Hopefully I will be good at it enough one day to where I can produce a video showing how.
