Wow this is the only benchmark video of rtx 2080 ti in 2024 .I think I should buy 2080 ti used because it is now worth buying over 3060 ti and 3070 and having more vram.
@@greatexpectation6456 I was very shocked myself at that fact. When I started recording this video I went to search for RTX 2080 Ti in 2024 to see what kind of games other channels were testing but I couldnt find any. Definitely agree that it is a better buy performance wise than a 3060 Ti and 3070, with a single caveat. That is a very decent pairing. I used a 9700K and 3070 back in 2020 to 2022, and at the time only Cyberpunk struggled on the CPU as it had no hyperthreading. Cyberpunk fixed a lot of its issues, including CPU usage, and now runs fine. A friend still has the 3070 / 9700K setup as a secondary PC, and has no issues running modern games at 1080p High, or 1440p with DLSS or medium settings native.

Great video, love seeing how older GPU's are doing in newer games and engines. For some reason it's really satisfying to see a 5 year old GPU still be extremely playable at great visual settings on 1440p. I wonder how current GPU's (other than the 4090) will age 5 years into the future and if they will still be really good.
At the rate games are increasing in required specs I think only the 4080 and 4090 will age as well as this. What gives the 2080 Ti some leeway is the 11GB of VRAM. Crazy to think a 1080 Ti and 2080 Ti have more VRAM than a 3080 🤦
Appreciate the support, as always. Yeah, it's really doing not too bad, but I want to test more UE5 games with Lumen etc. Will do a dedicated UE5 video next week, thanks for the idea 🤣
I had a 2080ti and a 8700k. I was torn on upgrading either the gpu, cpu, or both. I decided to go with a 13600k on sale for 250 and paired it with ddr5 memory and kept the 2080ti. My fps didn't improve, but the stability of my games did. Only reason I am not going to upgrade my gpu yet is because I would be upgrading it for one game which is cyberpunk. Everything else I play is from 2020 or older lol
Hahaha! I upgraded my 1080 Ti to a 3070 just for Cyberpunk! I waited a little bit and managed to get a 3070 at MSRP even during the crypto craze so I was happy about that. That said, you now have a very decent CPU and should be able to upgrade to a pretty decent GPU as well if you so desire, the CPU will be fine. I am guessing your 1% lows etc are much better compared to your 8700K?
Very much so. FF7 remake is a good example. It would stutter with the 8700k and runs buttery smooth with the 13600k. Cyberpunk would just drop fps in cities and now it runs smooth at high settings, but no ray tracing. I am waiting for the 5 series and am going to aim for the 5070 level.
@@TheJeffBala I currently daily drive a 4070 Super. The 70 class GPUs have always been my go-to for daily driving as they are often the best bang for buck. That obviously depends on which way the wind is blowing on release day, as prices can vary wildly haha!
I love this card, im still usng it with a 13600K using it untill the 5080 drops, still runs games great even at 4k! I dont often game lately and use using a small usb c dongle u can even get up to 4K 144Hz 10 bit HDR10 which it does not support through HDMI and DP only 4K 60
The USB C port is a very nice addition indeed. Not many cards have those nowadays. And the 11GB of VRAM means it surpasses GPUs like the 3070 and 4060 Ti in longevity for sure. A pity it was so very expensive at launch, but those who got it a little while later for cheaper definitely scored.
I've been running 2080ti since 2019, it worked perfectly in 4k. all i had too do is turning dlss quality on in some games, but with pre 2020 games it works in 4k with no problem. It's frame rates are very similar to that of 3080, a few frames behind in 4k, and 3080 and 4070 essentially runs at the same fps in 4k, so i would say 2080ti ≈ 4070, which a bit less efficient power consumption.
3080 is faster than 4070 by a solid 10% and 2080ti is 20% behind a 3080… Listen, 2080ti is a solid card, but there’s no need to lie to yourself about it being a 4070 equivalent, it’s not really a great card anyway. 4070s are trash and there won’t be a solid card for RT for a long time. But all of these cards are great for rasterized, so enjoy it as long as you can!
@@Seongbin-0 2080TI is more or less a 3070 with more vram and less rt, with the new drivers the 4070 is more or less a 3080. between a 3070 and a 4070 it's 30% in rt more or less the same. With rt the 3080 and 4070 are +40% faster than the 2080ti. the 2080ti only beats the 3070 in vram intensive games, does 8gb are a pain in the ass.

The moment you turn on ray tracing the 20 cards in modern games like cp2077 are just far slower than the nvidia 30 and 40 cards. just watch some reviews digital foundry is another where the 3080 stumps the 2080ti and with the new drivers the 4070 is even faster than the 3080 by 5% average.
Just went from an 8700k and a FTW3 2080 ti to a 4080 Super. and I am building out a new machine with a 12900k and a wateblock for the 4080 S. But moving to just the 480s and the 8700k it is a huge difference from the 2080 ti. I do play at 4k so if you play at 1440p, I wouldn't even worry about an upgrade until the 50 series.
Hi MPR 👋 The mic is fine, I couldn't notice any problem from my smartphone. The video quality is also perfect, the capture card seems to work fine. It's interesting to discover 2080ti is still offering such performance in 2024. Alan Wake 2 is the only game that actually puts the card in difficulty. I left a like. Keep up the good work 💪
Appreciate the comments, likes and feedback more than you know, thanks! The mic recently fell and since then lacks warmth / lower frequencies, and it also distorts at times even when talking softer. I couldnt hear it on a TV or phone, but on headphones you can. I have another mic that I will use and see if it works better.
it’s multiple videos showing even with the classic monster I got 3080 it still can game great with great optimized games and monster cards like a 1080 gtx/2060-2080ti these cards were made to last for years. 1080p has been mastered ever since the 2070s, which means almost any game with these sorts of strong cars runs 1080 even high without any problem. 1440p has been mastered ever since the 3060 came out, which means any cards as strong as that and after runs that without any problem. 4K is still up and the air doesn’t seem to be mastered yet unless it’s with monsters like a 4090, so cards in the future need to be strong as that or more.
Yeah for sure, there are a few iconic cards that still hold up very well today. People scoff at the revised 2060 Super, but it's actually a very decent GPU. Then the 1080 is also very decent still, the only thing that is starting to hold back Pascal is the lack of mesh shaders, which more and more games will start using. But if you have a 2080 or 2080 Ti it should still last you quite a bit at 1080p / 1440p. And agreed, 4K is just something completely different.
@@cmoneytheman Here's the funny thing. When the 4090 released it was doing 4K 180 fps without issue when no RT was enabled. Not even 2 years later and already there are games where it cant maintain much higher than 60 fps at 4K. I read a very interesting article yesterday from an ex-developer, and he said that GPUs used to increase in performance faster than what game technology developed, so we got to a point where we got crazy high frame rates. And then with the addition of Lumen and Nanite, games suddenly became more demanding, but also during that time devs knew they had a lot of headroom so they just didnt bother optimizing as they used to. Add in DLSS and Frame Gen technologies and devs felt even less compelled to see where they could optimize. And now we are at a stage where some games are again more demanding than the average hardware combination. Sure there were games in the past that werent well optimized, but recently the amount of games that rely heavily on upscaling and frame generation has increased significantly, and I am not too thrilled about that. I just did a video on FF16 with the 4070 Ti Super, and at 1440p Native it struggles to maintain 60 fps. But enabling DLSS Quality and frame gen, suddenly we get 180 frames per second. That's a big difference, and it makes me wonder if there something they couldve done to improve performance at native.
RTX 2080 TI is great for anything still, up to 1440P, but it certainly needs a model that has large heatsink. I haven't tried RTX 4060 TI but those should offer similar performance at 100W less power, making everything much cooler and quieter.
Yeah, it's amazing how efficient the 40-ssries GPUs are. If you still have a 2080 Ti it's still very capable indeed, but if you are looking for 2080 Ti performance today it's definitely a better choice to buy something newer that's more efficient, like you said.
I would still go for 2080ti vs 4060ti 8Gb or vs 7700XT(weak RT, and trash FSR) 11GB of Vram is actually the perfect amount for a midrange GPU in 2024. If you are lucky to have Samsung memory you can easily OC bandwidth from 616GB/s to 704GB/s (+1000MHz) Reference design has 250W TDP, so only 5W more than 5y younger RX 7700 XT. I'm still using the MSI Gaming X Trio, 300W OC model but undervolted to 1800MHz@0.825, +1000MHz mem, 180-220W. This gives the same performance like stock settings, but 80-100W less power.
Best used GPU in the market imo from NVIDIA. Your gimping it using 300w though, I am pretty sure 90% of buyers using this will use a 380w VBIOS to get more juice out of it. 2100mhz Core Clock should be easy to achieve as long as thermals are in check with that PL. if you find one with Samsung Memory that’s like another 5-10 fps since you can push it to 8200mhz
We never forget our firsts 🤣 My first was a 1080 Ti and still think it was one of the best cards I have ever owned. The 2080 Ti I skipped as it was way too expensive at launch, but today it can be had for a fairly decent price. Enjoy!
The CPU will coast along nicely at pretty low usages with a 2080 Ti. It's not necessarily a bad thing as it leaves you with a lot of options to upgrade your GPU in future.
I just ordered a 2080ti on Ebay for $240 bucks. I've been wanting a 4070 but I don't want to spend that much. My second option was for a 7800xt for $489 but even that was a little above my budget. I really needed something around $350 but there's Nothing in the New Market for that price that has any real performance. I had completely forgotten about the 2080ti and stumbled on a Dealer on Ebay that had an Asus Turbo 2080ti that has a Guarantee. The images look good enough and the Ebay Store has great reviews so I'm taking the chance. At the very least, I'll apply some new Thermal Paste and maybe some Thermal Pads. It might not be quite the Performance of the 7800xt or a 4070 but for $240 - I think I'll be happy enough for what it has to offer. It'll certainly be a great update from my 1070ti..! Worse case scenario, I'll be able to return it and get my money back.

I've successfully ran Helldivers in 4k at 60-70 fps on my i9 7920X with both a 1080TI (medium preset) and a base RTX 2070 (medium to low custom). I think with the increase in performance it looks like a 2080ti would be a aolid upgrade in both quality and FPS.
Yeah, the RTX 2080 Ti is about 30-45% faster than the 1080 Ti / 2070 Super on average. It does pull quite a bit ahead of the 1080 Ti in newer games though due to it's newer architecture and mesh shader support. The 2080 Ti is still a great GPU for modern games.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Thank you for clarifying that. I'm shopping for a new GPU in the near future and I'm currently debating with getting a used 2080ti to hold me off till the next tech advancement or price drops, or buying the best card I can afford now and hunker down with that for the foreseeable future. 🤷♂
@@biggboysouth You're welcome! Yeah, it's a tough one because we actually have no idea what the next gen of GPUs will look like when it comes to ray tracing and feature sets. I know a lot of people that were so angry because they bought a 3090 Ti for $2000 3 months before the 40 series launched, and by then you could get 3090 Ti performance in gaming with better RT and frame generation for $800. The same happened to people that bought 2080 Tis at launch for $1500, because 20 months later you could get similar performance with a 3070 for $500. So personally, if I were in your shoes, I'd get the 2080 Ti and see what the next gen brings. I doubt you'll lose much money, if any, if you sell the 2080 Ti again in 4 months time, but if you buy a 4070 Super new now you might regret it because its used price will probably drop by that time.
At 1080p the only thing that is limiting the 2080ti is the CPU. In my example the old Ryzen 2700x is the limiting factor, as it simply cant provide the frames for the GPU to process (not even at a 4,1ghz OC, only 4-5fps gain). At 1080p the gpu usage is 55-60% 😂 its not a bad situation though, as its almost always over 100fps, and this way i can crank everything to MAX settings, and even AA on MAX with supersampling on aswell WITHOUT an fps hit. The only thing that changes is the gpu utilization is up from 55-60% to about 80-85%. So all in all this gpu is an absolute beast for an absolute high-end 1080p experience. It has such a performance headroom that its bearly breaking a sweat at 58-60c degrees after longer sessions. Plus, it also handles a decent OC, i'm running it stable at 2085Mhz at these temperatures (and +400 on the memory). Also i'm using the ROG Strix version of the 2080ti. Its a beast! I'm positive that i wont upgrade for the next few years, because i dont plan on gaming in higher resolutions, 4k gaming for example is very expensive for what it is.
Yeah, I used to own a 9700K + 3070 system and it was almost always CPU bound at 1080p. The 12400F does a decent job, but it still falls short at 1080p in some games, but it doesnt feel right running a 13900K + RTX 2080 Ti for 1080p gaming 🤣 So I agree, even though it is slightly CPU bottlenecked, it's still a great experience, and will still be viable for 1080p gaming for a while. Heavier games will just use more GPU resources, meaning the headroom will shrink as it will take something very graphically heavy for the 2080 Ti to become the bottleneck at 1080p when paired with a 2700X. All in all it's still a great GPU today, even for 1440p gaming, but I agree with your sentiment that it will last a while still at 1080p.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Yes, the 13900k seems like an overkill 😀 For my system i have one more upgrade in mind, and that is the Ryzen 7 5800x on the cpu front, instead of the 2700x. The whole system would benefit from that, the system memory would clock higher (3200mhz ram is stuck at 2833 on the 2700x (thanks memory controller 😂)) , the GPU would have additional support, plus it's still AM4 so i'm good with my old mobo. I also thought about the R7 5800x3d, but I think that would fry the VRMs on my pretty mediocre mobo pretty fast 😅
Yeah, that's the awesome thing about still running on an older AM4 CPU, there's plenty of drop-in upgrade options. I actually think a 5800X3D should fare better than a 5800X due to lower power and clock speeds? I used to have a 5800X and it was a damn imoressive chip, especially with PBO2!
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Yes, i thought so myself, and it really is the same ballpark if i look at the prices (with far superior stats on the X3d), but the question is if an old Prime b450plus mobo can hold up 😬 i think it's kind of sketchy, even if its officially supported. Those werent the best boards ever made 😅
@@ThePeca1988 Yeah, the prime boards dont look very convincing from looking at it. I have one for my Ryzen 5 5600 non-X system. Not sure if you watch Hardware Unboxed? The did a lot of motherboard testing, maybe there is a 5800X3D B450 Prime combo somewhere? Let me see if I can find something.

@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Yeah thats what the 240mm AIO is for, every 5*c after 30*c on nvidia loses 15Mhz, so I gained back plenty of boost bins vs Air coolers. 1920-1980Mhz standard now holds 2025Mhz stock clocks,..due to lower temps. VBIOS up to 370watt, not always there, but thats the PWR limit. Clockspeed forced to 2115Mhz at 1.0v holds steady all day 300w-340w loads. It can go as high as 2175Mhz at 1.065v-1.075v but it's just wasted power holding 340w-370wfor little gains at that point. I love this GPU its a tweakers dream with 370w to play with, it's a pity to let go but the new buyer will enjoy "faster than 4060Ti" at a nice price.

Fantastic video. I'm curious if anyone has encountered a situation similar to mine. Over the last few months, I've observed that my MSI 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio crashes either immediately upon entering gameplay or within a few seconds after exiting from the menu. The only temporary solution I've found is reducing the core clock by -100MHz. While this resolves the issue for some games, others still experience crashes.
What are your temps like? Do you have an overlay to show this? You can also check HWINFO64 as that will show you hotspot and memory temps as well. If temps are fine, I suggest take off the shroud, cleaning it a bit and putting new thermal paste on. It would be very sad if your card itself has gone faulty 😔
This is an MSI Gaming X Trio model and it has very decent cooling. I recently did a repaste and it stays very cool. I have a custom fan curve, but it's more for noise than cooling. It stays at 30% fan speed until 40 degrees then it goes to 40. 50C goes to 50%, 60C goes to 60% and so forth. So this wouldve been 65% fan speed at 65C.
12400F? I actually have one and it slightly bottlenecks at 1080p in some games, but nothing to be too concerned about. It's a difficult choice between these 2 for sure, but I think the 11GB of the 2080 Ti will serve you bettet for longer. Edit: Missed the i3 part, so 12100F. It will be a bit of a bottleneck unfortunately, but still playable. What GPU do you have now?
They go for about 250-300 USD here where I live, so $220 to me isnt that bad. Not sure what your used market looks like as it differs a lot between regions, but for me it's not a terrible price.

These cards were made to last for year's same as 1080-ti; the same goes for 3060-3080; all these cards are monsters for 1080p-1440. 1080p has been mastered since the 20th series. 1440p has been mastered since the 30s There's no need to use DLSS with these resolutions unless a game is optimised badly.
Didnt Nidia now have updated drivers for all RTX cards to use DLSS 3.0 and 3.5 now? My 2080Ti still beats 4060ti and 3070 8GB in performance. Most 8GB cards are getting obsolete for anything beyond 1080p. But the 2080Ti is the sweet spot for 1440p on high DLSS in most games and even 4K and can be had in the used market for the same price as the new 8GB cards that are less performance.
The DLSS naming convention is very confusing. All RTX cards support DLSS 2.0 version 3.7, which is the latest version of DLSS upscaling. DLSS 3 refers to DLSS frame generation, and that is still only available on RTX 40 series cards. DLSS 3.5 is ray reconstruction, and that is supported on all RTX cards as well.
Thanks for the look at the 2080ti in all these titles. But this isn't an accurate depiction of Remnant 2's framerate most game. Everywhere you go has a highly different fps. One area will literally half your framerate or worse. Even at potato mode at 1080p with upscaling you'll go below 60fps.
Yeah, it's impossible to show every scenario though. I speak about this in most of my benchmarks and say that performance will be different in other areas. Some higher and some lower 👍
I am aware of the poor microphone quality in some places. I will try and resolve it as soon as possible.

That is a very decent pairing. I used a 9700K and 3070 back in 2020 to 2022, and at the time only Cyberpunk struggled on the CPU as it had no hyperthreading. Cyberpunk fixed a lot of its issues, including CPU usage, and now runs fine.
Crazy to think a 1080 Ti and 2080 Ti have more VRAM than a 3080 🤦
Great look at the 2080ti and great work on the video you have been busy

Yeah, it's really still relevant even in modern games. And can be had for a good price mostly, depending on where you live.
it's a flagship gpu it's been created to last a long time so it won't be obselete anytime soon

3080 is faster than 4070 by a solid 10% and 2080ti is 20% behind a 3080…
Listen, 2080ti is a solid card, but there’s no need to lie to yourself about it being a 4070 equivalent, it’s not really a great card anyway. 4070s are trash and there won’t be a solid card for RT for a long time. But all of these cards are great for rasterized, so enjoy it as long as you can!

@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews How long do you think before we can master 4K like we have mastered 1440, as I said with cards like 3060-3080?
I would still go for 2080ti vs 4060ti 8Gb or vs 7700XT(weak RT, and trash FSR)
11GB of Vram is actually the perfect amount for a midrange GPU in 2024. If you are lucky to have Samsung memory you can easily OC bandwidth from 616GB/s to 704GB/s (+1000MHz)
Reference design has 250W TDP, so only 5W more than 5y younger RX 7700 XT.

2080Ti with AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and liquid cooled here and I can freeze food on my PC LOOOOOL
The 12400F does a decent job, but it still falls short at 1080p in some games, but it doesnt feel right running a 13900K + RTX 2080 Ti for 1080p gaming 🤣
So I agree, even though it is slightly CPU bottlenecked, it's still a great experience, and will still be viable for 1080p gaming for a while.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews Yes, the 13900k seems like an overkill 😀
For my system i have one more upgrade in mind, and that is the Ryzen 7 5800x on the cpu front, instead of the 2700x.

Your 2080 Ti is running 45C? And at 370W? Or am I reading that incorrectly? If I did read correctly, that's crazy good!

There are lots of different models with varied default power limits, even at 100% PL.
Mine is a 300w model at 100%, it goes up to 373watts at Max PL.
My other 2080Ti i bought from a friend has a 290w max PL, 260w at 100% PL
2080 ti is on par with 3070 right?
Pretty much yeah. It has more memory and memory bandwidth, but overall they trade blows in most games.
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviewsone more question, have u noticed gpu downclocks on 4k res due to power limit?and does it cause microstutter?
@@elinbarrage9638 I havent tested much at 4K wit this GPU. This is the MSI Gaming X Trio with quite a high power limit though, but I will test Cyberpunk and see how it goes. Any specific game you are interested in?

Will test a few and let you know 👍
Fantastic video.
How is the gpu only reaching 65C at 99% usage? 🤨 Running max fan speed? :|
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews i have got Asus Strix 2080 Ti. It reaches 80C easily in games when 99% usage.I have replaced thermal paste as well :( .
could i3 1200f bottleneck a 2080 ti ? i could get a 3060 ti founders edition or a 2080 ti and i can't choose lol
@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews my pc exploded but it did have an rx 460 and i5 2nd gen lol
is 220 to much for a 2080ti i might ask if theyll take 180
They go for about 250-300 USD here where I live, so $220 to me isnt that bad. Not sure what your used market looks like as it differs a lot between regions, but for me it's not a terrible price.
$180.00 is a steal for a 2080ti especially if it was never mined on and maintained

Why do you have an ad about poop expert on your video?
I dont have any control over which ads get shown to you. Google decides which ads to show users based on their possible interests if personalized ads are enabled in your RUclips settings. If not it will just show you anything.

These cards were made to last for year's same as 1080-ti; the same goes for 3060-3080; all these cards are monsters for 1080p-1440.
1080p has been mastered since the 20th series.
1440p has been mastered since the 30s
There's no need to use DLSS with these resolutions unless a game is optimised badly.
Nice joke at the beginning 😂
I thought at least someone would appreciate it 🤣 Everybody complains about SOTTR still being used so had to slip that in.
why did you joke about showing shadow of the tomb raider? is it a inside joke i dont understand
So many people use Shadow for benchmarks, and so many viewers complain about using it because it's an old game.
3070 beat a 2080ti...
2080 ti = 3070 or 4060 ti
Thanks for the look at the 2080ti in all these titles. But this isn't an accurate depiction of Remnant 2's framerate most game. Everywhere you go has a highly different fps.
One area will literally half your framerate or worse. Even at potato mode at 1080p with upscaling you'll go below 60fps.
Yeah, it's impossible to show every scenario though. I speak about this in most of my benchmarks and say that performance will be different in other areas. Some higher and some lower 👍
