Folks, here is version 2.0 on a new "off grid" power station using a Lossigy 200ah LifePo4 battery. I built this a little big bigger than my first version to see if I would like to have that extra bit of power. This is a super simple build, and a very compact unit that can easily store in the corner of a garage!
I have posted some Amazon Affiliate links below for items that I used in this build if you are interested. Affiliate links can provide the channel a small commission, but at absolutely no cost to you!

These BYO battery stations are awesome. My family lives in a small town in Puerto Rico, where the power goes out all the time. So something like this would be super helpful 👍
👍🏻👍🏻
Can never have too much power, must be nice having that huge top on that table saw, can make some big cross cuts.
It is nice!
Great info again. Maybe consider doing videos on building these carts for us novices. Looking good...😊
I’ve built 2 or 3 so far on this channel…and I’m an absolute novice with this stuff👍🏻👍🏻😉
One of my down falls in life is,I am not mechanical inclined.that being said.i learnt a few things from your video. Thanks Brian.
Thanks Gary👍🏻
yellow and. blue - Go NAVY!
👍🏻👍🏻
That's a neat build. One thing that could be added is a 24v Meanwell power supply. It can be connected to the solar input of the charge controller and be used as a shore power charger.
👍🏻👍🏻
That is compact and definitely gets ones mind working. Few modifications like double batter and increase the inverter. Dang that would power appliance's.
👍🏻👍🏻
😊 Our son was taking things apart as a toddler to see how things work and continues to this day.
👍🏻👍🏻
Nurture his interest. Get him old stuff to pull up. When i was little my parents used to beat me for pulling up stuff. I'm now an explosives detection Xray engineer.
Whaaaaaa Brian is up early, ha ha ha!!! When we build our house, its going to be OFF-grid around 13Kw !!!
Awesome!
This is great! Thanks for sharing.
👍🏻👍🏻
I love it. Nice and compact design. I did the math and that setup would run my 5000 btu window ac for about 5-6 hours.
👍🏻👍🏻
What brand of window AC is it? I bought a manual controls supposedly soft start Frigidaire months ago but haven`t set it up and tested it yet. I got it and a cheap 2 stroke gas generator that`s supposed to bew able to power it after hurricanes for about 4 or 5 hours per gallon of gas. Now I have a 300 ah battery in my war on hurricanes.
Thank you for you’re instructional video learning a lot awesome video Katy Tx 🇺🇸🦅
Thanks for watching👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome Video thanks so much. It would be great to have a video on how to make the cart. Plus if you can upload plans that would be great. You have the best cart out there!
Love your shop setup! 🍻
Thank you👍🏻
Another great power station
I need to get busy with my solar system for my r v
You keep giving me more and more Greg ideas
Thanks
That's an amazing item.
Thanks bud👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this great build. And for the reminder I need a pocket hole jig!
Lol. I don’t know how I ever got by without one🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Great video Brian.
Thank you
Beautiful setup, Brian. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Freddie👍🏻
I wish I had the skills to build the setups like you do. I'm pretty much at the level that you showed with the battery and the inverter at the moment. 🤣🤣
Lol. I was a bit worried at first too I couldn’t figure it out. Not as hard as it might seem though👍🏻
Very nice design. I might suggest a main battery cut off switch. very neat and clean build. love the channel. thank you.
👍🏻👍🏻
Very clean build. That’s a beast of a battery. Interested in seeing the deep freezer test
Thanks bud👍🏻
That"s a cool setup. Gotta try that one day.
They are a blast to build. I have a few more coming down the pipeline
Always learning something from your vids. Thanks 👍
Shouldn’t you be enjoying the beach??
Thanks for the video. Like the compact set up!! Waiting to see the test.
Thanks👍🏻
Nice build and good info I can use to improve my solar projects.
👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Brian, I'm going to build one of these carts but I think I want to see what the next ones look like for comparison. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Ben👍🏻
Thx for this video and the ideas
👍🏻
Another great video Brian. I always learn something. Thanks!
👍🏻👍🏻
We eventually need to do build a few of these.
👍🏻👍🏻
So nice
👍🏻👍🏻
awesome build!
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool. I would have hated to lift that cart off of your workbench to put it on the floor..:) Great job as always.
It wasn’t too bad. Probably weighs 60 lbs all in
Another great video sir! Keep up the good work.
Thank you👍🏻
This is awesome.wish i could build one but the price on those batteries alone are crazy.
Thanks
coool, take us to school teach
Lol. 👍🏻
Great video …I have seen 24v and 12v battery , what is the advantages if go with 24v battery ? Thanks in advance
Basically: 24V systems are beneficial because you can use smaller diameter wire and reduce amperage by two times. Using smaller diameter wire can reduce wiring costs and decrease the space needed to run wiring. This is especially important where long wire runs are required.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors ok thanks. maybe your next video can be the 24v battery . great video and thank you for the reply.
Why did you go with the voltworks 1500 this time, instead of the Ampeak 1200 like last time? I'm in the market for an inverter and like the Ampeak, but heard it could be noisy. I'm looking for a more compact unit, but having just over 1000 watts is a neat idea.
It’s just a little nicer. The Ampeak is quite loud.
I'm on the fence on which brand to buy, Lossigy, TimeUSB, Redodo or Power Queen. I'm sure they all similar inside but which companies have the best customer service and warranty and will still be in business in a few years. Which would be your brand preference, I was leaning toward Redodo.
REDODO and PowerQueen have both been very responsive to me….even when I contacted them “discreetly” and not as a RUclips reviewer. I think you’d be happy with either one of those.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors Thanks, just ordered Redodo, Lossigy seems to have a quality product but appears to have zero customer service, many reports of them not responding. TimeUSB doesn’t have a lot of reviews and appears to be fairly new. Power Queen seems decent but Redodo seems to have more + reviews and Life of Lind likes it also…
If I would build that or similar how would I hook that to a transfer switch. Just a quality extension cord or hard wire? Thank you
Honestly, I have never tried to do that so I’m not sure. Would hate to give bad electrical advice.
@brian waters outdoors: I am building a system like the ones you've shown in your videos. I am improving on my original system, including some Harbor Freight controllers and other components, making it better than it was. The Harbor Freight kits included LED bulbs with a long wire, ending in a barrel jack. The HF controllers had 3 ports for these lights. I have already upgraded to the BougeRV 40Amp controller, but have many of these lights installed I'd still like to continue using. Do you know of a control panel with the barrel jacks, much like the USB panel you installed on your example, that I can wire into the system and still control/use these lights? Or am I better to investigate one and cut off the barrel jack and see if they just have two wires in the casing to make them work? Thanks much for the inspiration and info!!
I’m not aware of a panel, but maybe you could drill some holes and use these for the 5521 barrel connections?

@@BrianWatersOutdoors That's something I had considered also, I have some of these female jacks of a different style, so perhaps I'll just do some testing. Thanks so much.
I currently have a Weize 100AH Gel battery and 3 SLD Marine Batteries (can't recall the AH on these), but from what I understand (discovered today), I need to separate the wiring for the different types of batteries for a longer life for the Gel. I love off grid solar to try and take some power from paying the grid and now for emergency power needs. Inspired by your deep freezer run for several days. I think I'm on the right track. It's addicting, lol.
Great video
Thank you👍🏻
Need to see it work with solar
If it would do pass Thur charging with your portable ac
👍🏻
What is the brand of that blue gear you have? Drill screw holes for the wood, what does it called? Thank you
It’s a Kreg pocket hole jig
Thank you so much I’ll go look it up
Another great video keep them coming love the soler builds. #BrianWatersOutdoors
Thanks man👍🏻
You’ll get to 100k subs before 2024
Lolol. If I do I’ll buy you a drink🍺🍺
@@BrianWatersOutdoors I’ll hold you to it lol. God willing you will
I'm thinking about purchasing that inverter. Can you tell me if it is truly pure sine wave and does it put out a full 120volts ac?
I can say it’s putting out a solid 120 volts under an approx 500 watt load, but I don’t have any measurement tool to confirm pure sine wave though. I do know this company has been around a while and seem to manufacture pretty nice inverters.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors Thanks for letting me know. You were running fans off of it. As long as you didn't here any extra "noise" in your fans it's probably clean sine wave. I ran a fan off a cheap modified sine wave inverter and the fan had I high pitched whine (noise) while it was running.
oh yeah, no noises at all, and I did run some more equipment that was not on this test and didnt notice anything. My coolers, a battery charger for my drills and of course this fan you saw.
REAL NEAT BATTERY LITTLE OUT MY PRICE RANGE COULD I A AGM 200AMP IN STEAD?
You could use AGM on this instead
@@BrianWatersOutdoors i have24 v panels 235w but want to stay with 12v batterys any ideas? thanks Brian
It’s Maize and Blue like the U of Michigan….
👍🏻👍🏻
👍👍
👍🏻
Another great little build, but is air flow that critical in a unit this small that the components can't be enclosed? Maybe have a box with just the controls showing (meters, switches, outlets, etc.).
Thanks. If you’re not running the inverter too hard you could probably have it enclosed. I’ve seen a few folks build one of these that way.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors Maybe add some type of small exhaust fan. Just worried about the younger grandkids touching stuff they shouldn't.
Weee both use lithium for different purposes I’ve used these lipofoe cells before for car audio I fried them both over charged them anyways after the 12 smoking of fumes session lol I opened them there just a bunch off double a batts so waaaack when I seen that I was like never again man they tricked me I spent 1200$ for two 80ah liths now I only mess with the safest liths now is lto cells
👍🏻👍🏻 sounds like you know way more about batteries than I do!
How many panels can you connect to that cart
I can use around 200 watts of solar panels mainly because if the size of my charge controller. (15amp max)
How much does it lose if you don’t use it and it sits for months?
Only 1-3% per month. Lifepo4 holds their charge for a very long time.
Is it possible to use a smart plug with this with timer built in?
As long as your inverter is always on you should be able to. But you’ll use up stored battery energy keeping the inverter always on though.
Forgot to comment, those Woodpeckers are nice but holy crap are they expensive…
They are proud of them, but dang they are nice. I think I started buying there tools back in 2010 and slowly just started accumulating them.
How's your ac unit treating u?
Still running strong. Couldn’t be doing what I’m doing in this heat right now without it.
I need to rig up something similar with my 300 ah battery. I got it so I can have power for a small window air conditioner in the future after hurricanes mainly but I can use it for a lot of things. Hopefully prices continue to fall on these batteries. I wish I could have gotten four of them but spent all I had on it, inverter, and charge controller and still need more solar panels. I`d like to be able to charge it up fast. But even the chargers are crazy expensive. I foolishly thought I could just buy a high wattage charger and top it off fast with a gas generator but I could only afford a questionable cheap 20 amp LiFeP04 charger with mixed reviews. Now I`m scared to use it. A highly rated one costs hundreds and still takes all day to charge. Makes absolutely zero sense.
I bought the $80 Victron smart charger and it’s amazing. It’s only 5 amps so it takes a couple days to charge though. But I trust it.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors I may have to get it. I need a backup. Not sure how to test the one I have for safety. I`m worried about it damaging the battery. It may be best to just solar charge it to test it.
How much did this whole cart cost you?
Around $1000. Battery was 80% of that.
Dammm your more then more then more then consistant! Like more then any channel I follow lol
👍🏻👍🏻
I think you should figure out which parts works best, and start to sell it for a $2-500 above parts price.
👍🏻👍🏻
Install a 3000w and watch it power your whole camp trailer lol
👍🏻👍🏻
Very very cool man!!
Hey off topic, if you can get Busch light apple I suggest you grab some!!!!!! omg !!! Outstanding.
I’m not a light drinker by any means but WOW!!! It’s amazing lol!!!! Check it out if ya can👍🏻👍🏻
Tom, you won’t believe this but I bought a pack of that today. I saw it and had to pick it up. I got interested from “you betcha” channel😂😂😂
@@BrianWatersOutdoors omg!!!! It’s sooooo good👍🏻👍🏻
I’m going to save it for Thursdays trip🍻🍻👍🏻
@@BrianWatersOutdoors do a review on it on your channel, that would be cool as hell 👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺
Lol. A beer review…… that could be interesting🍻🍻🍻🍻
how much the way it sits
Approx $1000 as it sits
a simple basic cable layout would be cool
Will be doing another one soon and will show that 👍🏻
First :-)
👍🏻👍🏻
Great video at #brianwatersoutdoors ...keep the awesome videos coming😃
👍🏻👍🏻
Just found your channel Nice job on the reviews, like how you give Will Prowse his coo-dos just in case required and you forgot im the only one! #brianwatersoutdoors
Thanks👍🏻
I like it! Looks cool too.
