    What is a Game you consider to be overrated?

    • @danielcalabrese5769

      I think the reason the last of us was and is so popular is because the real story was about emotion and how well they were able to me the player feel those emotions because of how well they presented the relationship between Joel and Ellie, being parent myself meant that this story hit me harder than someone who isn't a parent but because it was presented so well i think even people who are not parents were able to connect so strongly with these characters, it is a master class in story telling and how to make players feel connected to characters. I think part was even better in that regard but it hurt itself with some of the worst pacing I have experienced, if they cut about 1/4 or even 1/2 of the runtime part 2 would of been even better (story wise). I think it's safe to say that while you feel the last of us story is overrated a vast majority of players disagree and it was an instant hit on release and is loved by a major part of the people who played to this day which to me shows that it isn't overrated. This is of course all subjective as in thus is my opinion and you have your own. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and hopefully get people to think about things without blindly reverting to anger, have a great day or night wherever you are in the world. 👍😊

    Personally, I would put FFVII over FFVI as being overrated. The marketing push, thanks to Sony, is what really made FF7 bringing it into the mainstream conscious. Also Sephiroth has always been more generic than Kefka.
    Both are great games just FF7 is the worse of the two that was riding on the FF6's previous success and the marketing power Sony put behind it to get Squaresoft to make the leap from Nintendo's console to Sony's console. Most people didn't know or don't remember but Sony published FF7 outside of Japan for Squaresoft. They had a lot of help and that all driven by previous success.
    But I mean Final Fantasy's greatest depend on who is talking and where they come into the series. Where that may be FFX or FF7 or FF6 or FF1...

    • @feiitogaming
      @feiitogaming  Год назад +2

      Altough FF7 is my personal favorite game of all time, I do understand when people don't like it or think it's overrated. I mean, Video Games ultimately are all about emotions and making you feel things. If one game doesn't do it for you then that's fine. 😎

    • @Xsetsu
      @Xsetsu Год назад +1

      @@feiitogaming I am pretty certain FF7 would be many's personal favorite (probably more than any other), but I don't think it would be that way without Sony taking such a huge role especially in then insane marketing surrounding it. At the time, Sony needed RPGs and Squaresoft was the premium developer because of FF6 and Chrono Trigger. Those games were system sellers, so Sony did everything they could to get Squaresoft on their platform.
      Sony sold that game to many who had never even played a JRPG. FF7 was their first or close to it. The thing that made it even better though was FF7 was a fantastic game.
      Personally, I would still have to put FF6 or Chrono Trigger as my favorites, but I can understand if you played them afterward as you really had to be there. I had been playing Final Fantasy since the very beginning though.
      FF7 was the last Final Fantasy I have ever played all the way through. It was a bit of a disappointment at the time for me personally.

    Yeah, I was in the same camp with you with NieR Replicant, first being hyped when I was Blown away with Automata, and while I did like Replicant in terms of story, characters, atmosphere and music, even the combat is solid. The actual gameplay/story structure and quest designs is what killed it for me, and It's a game I can never feel like replaying. Opposed to Automata, where it handles those aspects so much better and every time I keep playing it back appreciating it a lot more, finding some new things I probably missed and feel comfortable playing too. I can sort of understand the love of Replicant if basing it on a story perspective, but if we're talking about it from everything else, then yeah it's overrated.

    • @feiitogaming
      @feiitogaming  Год назад +1

      You're so right. One thing I didn't even mention in the video are these sections where the game suddenly becomes some sort of a text adventure. There are not many of those but man they annoyed me. The first time this happens was pretty cool as a gimmick but if I remember correctly the second playthrough starts with a never ending barrage of text. That's pretty much where I stopped playing this.

    I agree with TLOU. Haven't played any NEIR title. Only played a little bit of the first Horizon. I know I'll like the Horizon games but I won't love them. I want to try Vanquish out. I find Bethesda games overrated in general. So I instantly agree with Starfield. Sonic 1-3 are what got me into gaming. But I agree they are overrated. But, for 2D Sonic, it's about memorization and replaying. Not played FF6 I plan to pick up the pixel remaster collection soon.
    For games that are overrated in my eyes I'm doing something similar in the near future. But I'll name one that didn't make that list. Tales of Vesperia.

    I feel that the last of us came out at a time where most games where going for a faster pace. So i found it's grounded approach quite refreshing at the time! and while the zombie virus story has been done before, i feel the last of us executes it the best in all honesty. As for the sonic games, yeah, the platform sections where you need to slow down can be difficult to get a grasp of at first with the speed, but it's something you can get used to fairly easily i feel!

      @@feiitogaming literally NONE, all feel like soap operas balanced for women. I've tried quite a few over the years and I seriously don't get it... like do soap operas ever get high ratings on tv / cinema? NO... But games somehow do... Like everything Final Fantasy is such a soap opera, same goes with persona, or even last year phenomenon - Sea of Stars. I also tried Tales of Arise, even bigger soap opera. What's worse - nothing is compensated by amazing combat system. It's either some weird turn-based which is nothing like what western tactical turn based games do with positioning and such (recent Larian games, Wasteland 3, etc)... Furthermore - JRPGs mostly are not "choices matter" type games - so another massive downside for an RPG. There's just nothing high quality in JRPGs.

Dragon's Dogma is a great JRPG that you may never have played, and even if you have played and didn't like it the people who enjoy them form a relatively large community, and so these games will automatically get positive reviews from them. Just because they don't cater to you doesn't mean they're overrated. JRPGs are about long hours of immersion and builds for battle.

    I never got what people saw in The Last of Us when they say that it’s, “One of the greatest stories ever told in a video game.”
    I watched a full playthrough of the original game, back when it initially came out in 2013, and then again sometime around 2020 when a person in a former group chat played it for his first time and streamed it over Discord. After seeing the story twice now, I’ve found that I don’t really remember a lot of it. I know the general plot points and characters, but no individual scene really stands out to me all that much.
    I think it was fine, I won’t call it outright bad. But it was just... average. I’d personally rank the story as a 6 out of 10, or the equivalent of 3-stars. It’s something that held my attention and kept me interested until the end, but never stuck with me at all beyond that point. I didn’t find myself emotionally invested in Joel or Ellie, like other people do. They have that “any other video game protagonist” sensation to them.
    I think it comes down to how simplistic and basic everything about the game is. Everything that The Last of Us does, there are numerous games which do it far better, in my eyes, and that includes story.

  • @bri2000
    @bri2000 Год назад +3

    I loved The Last of Us. It's a story you have heared multiple times before, but that happens with almost every story unless you go too weird and twisted hehe. But I loved the gameplay and the emotional depth of the story.
    I haven't played Forbidden West, but guess what... I was playing Starfield, got bored, and started playing Zero Dawn for a second time, and began to have a lot of fun again. I'm really looking forward to FW when it comes out on PC. The thing is that Horizon games are... not really open world games, but a fighting robots simulator set on an immense playground with a bit of story around it. The emphasis has to be on gameplay and not on exploration.
    Starfield could really use a bit of No Mans SKy in it. For me it doesn't even feel like an open world game, but several mini games connected by lines. Ship minigame, city minigame, dungeon minigame... and I loved Skyrim or Fallout.
    Sonic, ha! It's been a while! For some reason I never got into Mario games but I finished Sonic 1 and 2 on my GameGear, about a million years ago. Had a lot of fun although my hands where shaking when I finally beat each game :)

  • @meanon4408

    TLOU is not overrated to me. Signs of an incredible game for me is replayability. I've replayed the game near 10 times. I was so hyped for the original trailers, one of the few games that delivered and some.
    My most overrated games are: GOW Ragnarok, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Bioshock Infinite, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Portal, Cyberpunk 2077, Undertale, MGS V: Phantom Pain and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I have completed all of these games except Smash Bros which I couldn't get into at all.

      @@redfoxbennaton It really isn't a shooter though. Gears, Halo, Killzone, Doom, Quake, Resistance, COD, Battlefield are SHOOTERS. TLOU is a story driven adventure survival game with a focus on stealth and strategy. It's one of less than 10 games I'd scored a 10 and I've finished well over 100 games.
      If your list includes Journey, Dark Souls, Alan Wake, Portal, Super Smash Bros, Mafia 2, Persona 5, Cyberpunk or Fallout: NW, then I disagree. If it includes something like AC: Valhalla, the opinion is invalid.

    I can understand the Horizon series not being for everyone but to call Forbidden West "overrated" is quite a hot take. Where many AAA games seem to release buggy or incomplete relying on updates to fix the situation, Guerrilla Games put together such a breathtaking & polished gaming experience. I appreciate the fantastic environments & transversal (flight, swimming & climbing mechanics), fluid combat, a great story with interesting side missions, great Mo-Capped NPC's & dialog scenes, solid voice acting, a fantastic OST, & well designed & diverse enemies. However, there are some small gripes like all of the collectables, too many weapon & outfit variations & the overuse of shard costs on EVERYTHING, especially ammo. Strike is maybe another near miss but there is not such thing as bloat when you love a game. :) I completed Zero Dawn + DLC to 100% & Forbidden West currently around 90% + DLC, both on Hard difficulty. Politely, I couldn't disagree with you more regarding that particular title.
    FFVI is overrated too? Dude, how can a game be "fantastic" & "overrated" lol? I think it gets the praise it deserves and nothing more. It was pretty monumental on the SNES (FFIII - U.S) way back in the day. Still one of the greatest SNES titles of all-time. You're on-point with Starfield though, sadly, and I am a big Bethesda Game Studios fan. Anyways, interesting list. Cheers.

    • @feiitogaming
      @feiitogaming  Год назад +1

      Yeah I know that calling Forbidden West overrated is a hot take, that's why I wanted to talk about it haha. You're absolutely right by saying AAA Games nowadays tend to be released unfinished and FW was in a very polished state on its release. I still like it, I just didn't like it as much as most folks but I understand why people like it.
      I think a game can be overrated and great at the same time. I
      For me it just means that I don't agree with a rating or the general conception of a game or that there are flaws that I never hear people talk about. FF6 is a great example imo. It does a lot of things very right and for that it's a fantastic game, but some things I don't like weigh so heavy for me, that I think it's a tiny bit overrated.
      Does that make sense? 😂😎

    i didn´t expected the classic sonic games on the Video
    My LEAST fun of the classic games is Sonic 3 Because Some levels have Enemies or Traps in front of SPEED Sections and Few enemies or Traps are Annoying like these Spike balls on a Chain or those Floating robots with spikes and Because of that i Prefered to go SLOW to be aware of every DANGER
    My MOST Fun of the classics is Sonic 3D Blast Because it's a Top down view and not a 2D one and one of the few sonic Games were you don´t Die for Taking too much TIME, i've played that game more than the Main ones because i have the Sega genesis and Megadrive Classics on PC :)

    All Platinum games, Yoko Taro games, and Kojima games are overrated, except those that are considered bad games, those are rated exactly as they deserve: bad.
    Final Fantasy 6... your party is separated many times, and I really love that, from a narrative perspective I think it's perfect. I really would like that happened more in RPGs, but it doesn't. Once you have a party, all your characters remain together even if narratively it made zero sense. I am playing Star Ocean 6. There's a moment when you travel to another continent and recruit an elf, she is the queen of that nation, but she joins your party and now travels with you to another planet. That's stupid, she has responsibilities, she's the queen! And it annoys me to no end in most RPGs, because there's not actual reason for it to happen.
