This was actually my favorite LM song ... I would add to the comments that the track was a unique fusion of freestyle, hip hop/new jack swing and (more than most would realize) acid jazz that was only just touching the ears of listeners in the states. How did this do overseas?
Fever/Rush Associated Labels/Def Jam/ Columbia Records/Sony. There were a lot of hands in the cookie jar. Written by Franc. Reyes, writer and director of the films “Empire” and “Illegal Tender”. Producer was Carlos Berrios.
I understand. The record companies had flawed logics at that time. This song is not only great but it's also rare to find this kind of track of this genre with vocals on it. They'd mainly rap over a beat like this. This track was SOMEWHAT common in THAT time, but hell if you'll ever find something like this now.
This is a fresh sound and an electrifying music video. I didn't know there was a music video for this song. I was and continue to be a big fan of Ms. Melendez since her debut in 1990. Mr. Berrios, please ask her to rerelease this song. In fact, she should do a rerelease album. With today's dull music, we need something from the past to reignite the music biz.
She has a very powerful and commanding voice
2019 and this still sounds fresh. Very crisp video.
Wow after all these years i never knew this was a video to this wow
This is great. The bridge to the chorus is pure KC & the Sunshine Band ☀️ - good stuff!
Spot on!
Hi this song suppressed me I love it Melendez.
There's a video it was a single? Nice this song is fire. 😊
She should have done more music like this

2024
At the very least, this song should have been used in a motion picture. Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker, etc.
Agreed!
Video is actually not Freestyle. It's in between old school Hip-Hop and Jazz. Jazz-Hop.
Much appreciated! That's what we were going for but hit a wall of resistance with the record company.
