When you see what it takes to make an album you need to buy the physical product.
This man wrote the soundtrack to my youth. Now I am middle aged and still listening to this legendary songwriter and performer. Thank you Paul.
God damn Paul! This album is insane! As someone that lives in Los Angeles, I can hear so much pulled from the history of this city from old Hollywood nostalgia through some South LA soul and even sprinkles of early 90's gangsta rap and it's all blended and concentrated in a melodic soundscape full of textures that makes me feel like I'm on some amphetamine fueled drive from Silverlake to Palm Springs. It's crazy how good it is and I've only heard half the album so far. Taking my time with it for moments when I can actively listen.
I’m gonna go out early and say, this latest album is Paul’s most joyous, most complete album he’s ever created. Everything seems to have come together and Paul just seems so centred, content and confident. His confidence has allowed him to pull back at times and just let it all happen naturally. Dare I say, he’s allowed himself to let go and align himself with his feelings and intuitions
Another masterpiece from Weller. Really interesting seeing how this was put together. And doesn’t Paul just get cooler and cooler?

Orchestra leader Hanna Peel's reference to "The Beach Boys" is very accurate. This video is like looking at a young Brian Wilson searching for new sounds on the making of "Pet Sounds". It is nice to take a peek behind the curtains and fascinating to see Weller at work. Some of the music on this "On Sunset" is just terrific. I love the ambition of "Mirror Ball". But most of the songs on this record are really interesting. 8 out of 10.

Great insight to the process. I really wasn't expecting an album as good as this so soon after the classic 'True Meanings'. Listening to Mirrorball, Village, More and On Sunset itself, it's all there to see, very reflective.

Paul never fails to inspire me to pick up my guitar and attempt his songs even though cannot handle the Eb and Bb such as the chorus on Hung Up. His cannon of work is amazing and thus another record to choose a song and attempt to play. Only you and Noel do that for me.

Truely masterful.
First saw Paul in The Jam in the late 70's and he has provided a musical soundtrack for my life ever since. Another great album and perfect for the summer road trips we are all taking this year.

Great to see this. If inevitably the last PW album was sombre and reflective (I fully understand this having lost a parent at a similar time) then this one still pushes forward but with an obvious joy to it. Best of all its the touches here...the drummer playing for a long time rather than it being sequenced, trying lots of new things...hell...even recording it to reels. This is the quality and the class that we still need. Wishing you ever success with this Mr Weller!
