- Can you make an iPhone more cinematic? I test out the app Protake on an iPhone 12 Mini to see if we can create a more cinematic look on a phone. As a first attempt, not bad. There's certainly a few tips though which I cover in this video so you too can give it a go with some good results.
So if you've been wondering, how to make your phone look cinematic, then this video will hopefully give you the tips needed to improve your iPhone filmmaking.

You may have noticed some dodgy audio syncing during this film. I honestly have no answer as to why. Maybe the phone has an issue when using the app to record audio? Anyone else experience this and has anyone found a fix? Anyway, hopefully it was still mostly watchable. Any comments just leave them down below and I'll make sure to reply
That footage was awesome. Love the zoom a to b feature. I need to get one of those bendy leg tripods.
Thanks mate. Wasn't too sure if it was any good, but turned out fairly good. Need to find more uses for it.
@@JamesKellyStudio wanted to thank you for the glycerin tip too. Went out and bought some.
Great video, I don't have an iPhone so I'm not entirely sure why I watched this but it was interesting all the same. The stabilisation is interesting as I have a DJI Osmo Mobile to help but it is a pain getting that out and weighting it etc. I have Rode mic. Anyway you can see the warmth that has been brought back. The cinematic part was great! As an art channel this is not entirely great for me but I did have a vlogging channel as well which is suffering as my focus is on the art. Very nice tune in the background of the cinematic part. I have found my phone to be one of the most cinematic cameras I have but I will stick to art and leave you expert guys to the cameras and cinematography. Great video and glad to have found you following the Film Booth Channel Review video. Keep up the great work!
Glad you liked it. Fairly happy with the outcome but not sure if it will ever replace my proper cameras just yet. Might start introducing some more spontaneous vlog bits to the channel which this would be perfect for. You can definitely add a cinematic look and feel to your channel more if you wanted? It would require more work and setup time, but I can see something in my head that would be cool.
Well done James. Yes it isn't perfect, but as you said: it was a test and for me it worked quiet good 👌🏻
Greetings from Germany 😃
Yeah agree, not perfect, but some useful tips hopefully for anyone who only has a phone to shoot on.
Wow, I'm shocked that was the in built mic. I was watching thinking, he must be using a tascam recorder or something to record the audio and has synced it up in post.
I know right! And I was in the process of buying all the adapters to make my RODE mic conns t to the phone, but this sounds just fine as is!
Wow, Is it seriously shot on iPhone 12 with ProTake? So perhaps, I don't need an iPhone 13 .
Indeed it is. I think I could do a much better job now but it goes to show you don't need the biggest and best iPhone
@@JamesKellyStudio yes perfect, thankyou !
Love the music choices! Nice little phone!
Cheers buddy. Great little phone, not sure how much I'll do with it though. Yeah I like the music, almost had a 'sweet child of mine' vibe
nice pepsi jacket ;D ill get my iphone 12 mini soon! it will be a upgrade from iphone 6 :-)
