I am disabled and quite often must use my wheelchair. This story got me like no other episode! I was so angry at this poor womans husband! How did he expect her to go out and make friends? No wheelchair ramp!!? Broken radio? What a thoughtless jerk! My husband wouldn't dream of leaving me alone like that! My goodness it will take me a while to calm down after this one...UGH.😱
My husband moved to Hawaii in April 1960. His dad was in the marines. They took the boat over. So he was living there when this took place. As a young teen he started being interested in Ham Radio, so he knew Morse Code. His mom told me they always had to go to the highest point on the island when a tidal wave was expected. This is true. Later my son was stationed in Pearl Harbor.

Reality is that there was little to no damage in Honolulu and she didn't need to evacuate. Almost all of the damage and injuries were on east facing side of the island but it does make a good story.
@@valmikabeneteau7229 Actually, there was absolutely no damage from this wave at all. It occurred soon after the tsunami that wiped out much of Hilo on May 23, 1960, because the immense quake in Chile that caused this previous disaster was just one of a whole series that went on for several days. A subsequent earthquake was thought to have caused another tsunami and the warning time was just minutes, so people were semi-panicked to escape since they knew that 61 people had been killed a short time before in Hilo.
