  • In the pursuit of an accurate, HPA based, airsoft DMR, I believe to have come to the conclusion after over a year of testing. Getting the perfect amount of nozzle engagement from the Begadi Neptune hopup chamber was not enough. Wolverine and Silent Industries, both, have hopup chambers on the market to apply additional, bucking lip tension to control the bb's entering the bucking (Wolverine Phoenix and Silent Industries Alpha). The Phoenix is for MTW's only, but the Alpha just released in a V2 version. This video is a review of the available tensioner rings with an assortment of buckings.
To summarize the results, the following combos fit best:
    Madbull Red- Tight Ring
    Begadi Buckings- Very Tight Ring
Maple Leaf Silicone MR HOP- Tight Ring
Maple Leaf Rubber MR HOP- Medium Ring
    G&G Green- Medium Ring
    Madbull Blue- Tight Ring
Old Maple Leaf Buckings- DO NOT USE

    Is there a particular bucking/tensioner combo you'd recommend for 0.32g at 1.5J?

@NerdESO We're seeing best results with Begadi MHP5 70*, Begadi D3x5mm nub 70 (same as maple leaf omega, but any 70 degree concave nub), and an extra tight tensioner ring (triple groove)

Interesting, I have had problems getting the TNT hop rubbers work in my kythera setup, this could actually help, I would love to get the TNT hop rubber working in my hpa kythera setup since it is imo the best rubber for accuracy and range, at least it has been on my AEG builds. So you have to use these rings with this hop up chamber or can you use with like a Maxx hop up for instance?

These rings are chamber specific. Even if they fit in another chamber, the ring would push the inner barrel forward. Lock clip would not work and would need a super long nozzle. Don't have any footage, but had decent success with Reaps 80 degree bucking in the Kythera with Silent Alpha. Not crazy range, but consistent at least. My Cyma SR25 with the SI Alpha and Begadi SHP7 doing well though.

@@Karrottop009 Interesting, Well what I really want to get working as you might understand is the TNT hop rubber in my kythera build, the rubber lips are "straight" so they dont fit well with the polarstar nozzles, it even leaks air after a few shots, I figured if I can just tighten up the lips and get it to seat the BBs right it would probalbly make for the best setup.

@@scandimanairsoft Well, science never hurts. Don't like it, then you try the next thing lol. For me, this has been the only method to solve the wild innaccuracy of the kythera. Can say that going too tight of a ring has also caused bucking lips to fold into the inner barrel, especially the madbull red apparently.

@@Karrottop009 I acctually have ok accuracy on the kythera with ML MR hop, 50 or 60 degrees, at least in the 1 to the 1.7 joule range. It is when I rock it as DMR up at 2.2 ish joules that I see the flyers, I do think the TNT rubbers would fix it though, I will keep looking for a soution or perhaps ill just get the SI hop unit and try these rings.

Hmm, for me, 1.5J was unplayable with ML, Begadi, Madbull, or Prometheus. Going 1.85J allowed me to lob .40's at least. I also had to use the PTS EPM 250rd's for their super stiff spring to slow down the nozzle. So, what causes midcap syndrome in aeg's is actually helpful for Kythera's super strong nozzle. I also tried a tighter metering screw to slow down the Kythera, but one size change caused double feeding...

Good video. What were the specs of the barrel you were using?
