There’s enough engineering and tech data available to build the Super Tomcat-21 in DCS. Among those plans for upgrades where a couple different versions of a head mounted visor for ground attack at night mainly for low altitude terrain awareness, and an interceptor version.
You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting. Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements. Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.
Iran got them before the 1979 revolution. In response to Soviet Mig-25's violating their airspace. Iran's government was really tight with Washington in those days, not everyone who asked got F-14's.
Ok, now we need American F-14A vs Iranian F-14 followed by F-14D vs Iranian F-14 to illustrate how the capabilities of the Tomcat improved with later models.
Learning more about fighter combat from watching this channel for a few months than playing tons of hours of EAW, MCFS series, the old IL-2/1946, LOMAC, etc long ago.
what would happen if the beautiful F14 was upgraded with 3d trust vectoring engine . AESA radar ,aim9x and JHMCS .Aim 120 and new updated aim 54s. full glass avionics , and the f35 see trough body sensors. Painted like f22 color . it would be a beautiful killer LADY.
That was a great dogfight. I would really like you to see you do these same types of dogfights, but on IL-2. There are some real interesting fights like the P-51D vs G-14, the P51 a rate fighter like the F-16 and the 109 G14 is like a Delta wing plane that is much better in the 1 circle. Also they can be interesting because you have to worry about gloc much more.
So much fun watching you two go at it. Except for the last 'kill,' Shotgun makes the 14 seem much less prone to departing when pushed. You can see how good it is when well flown. I didn't think it was possible to move the nose almost cobra-like in that big bird. Somone's been practicing. Thanks for this video.
Keep in mind the F-15C is 50 years old and has been upgraded substantially while the Iranian F-14 has had little upgrades to its core systems (as far as we know)
Well the Iranian F-14's are all A models so they would have a distinct disadvantage in thrust to weight and should not really be competitive with the F-15. It wasn't until the B model with the GE F-110 the B models had a 61% greater climb rate than the F-14A.
I wouldn't say the F-15C is a good representation of the actual aircrafts capabilities. It's a VERY old module and it's quite well known how poor it's energy retention is in comparison to the real thing.
I got the pleasure of seeing one of F-14s land at NAS Lemoore (I was an AC2 there at that time), prior to them being decommissioned. What a beautiful bird.
Loved it, intrigued to see what would happen if the US navy did what the Air Force did with the f15 and give it a massive uprate. So F14 with Aim9x and Aim120’s with better radar and visor mounted HUD
I think the F-14 entered service in 1974 while the F-15 entered service in 1976. Not far apart. Only one is still in service with the U.S. and astonishingly in production (F-15EX). So, as amazing as the F-14 history is considering Iran is flying them today, the F-15 is even more so. That said, I think the F-16 is even more impressive. It entered service in 1978 and over 4600 have been built. More than the F-14, F-15, F-18, F-22, and F-35 (so far) put together. And it is still being made for export. In the modern jet era, as far as western fighters are concerned, I think the F-4 is tops in numbers produced (5200) for a jet that is still in service in some nations.
Idk if that's how the models are but on the manoeuvre kill it looked like his wing clipped the ground and basically pulled the entire aircraft into the dirt like skipping a rock on water...very brutal way to go as we see from the fireball around the jet.
Love the videos GS. You post the most content without it feeling repetitive or watered down. Thank you for what you do! Can’t wait till I get my set up maybe I’ll see you in the sky!
Attempt 8! Could you please show us ground strafes with different weapon setups from ground perspective? We all know how A10 Brrrt sounds from the ground and looks on target, some even know that for Viper's 20mm, but I really wonder how a 37 mm, 6 x 50 cal., 23 mm MiG-21 and 30 mm MiG-29 long strafes would look and sound on target! Also, could you please bring out the flying lol machine I-16 against the F-22?
Yo GS, thanks for the video. Enjoy the what could have been videos with modernized older aircraft. I agree with you, was sad to see the tomcat leave the US inventory. Will be sad to see the tomcat leave forever. As always great content. Have a pleasant day. Cheers.
Ahead of the 3-9 line, the R-73 is very weak when opponents stay out of afterburner. DCS does model afterburner cooldown, so there is a delay between cessation and the benefit. Rear aspect it’s very difficult to flare off.
8th time asking Growling to please play the Harrier! I think you could usw the VTOL nozzles to great effect manually and use them to make some crazy sharp turns, stopping mid-air and stuff like that. That would be amazing to watch!
Buddy ... There is hell in my country ... They are killing student. Arrest them in street and put them in ambulance and trasferring to jail as a cover to not recognize by the people... And wipe the tracks ... As i write this .. tomorrow its gonna cut the internet again by regime... Women-life- freedom✌️
bro us goverment gives us ( iran) this shity regim . our peoples have no problem at all. and usa and their allies will not let this regim go down because its their benefits . no one care about iranian peoples in western or eastern goverments :(
In 1975, for the purchase and export of Iranian F-14A’s the USAF had mock dogfights of the F-14 against F-15A’s and F-5E’s where the f-14 would turn onto their opponent faster than both the F-5E and F-15A, in addition to being the clear winner despite different pilots and swapping aircraft between them.
Both awesome planes, my favourite maritime plane is the F-14. The F-15 just stands the test of time which is testa mount to it’s design and versatility.
Overall it's superior. The only reason why we still have the F15s is their strike platform. The ST21 (Super Tomcat) would have replaced F15s, F18s, F22s, and been a strong base for a next generation version to compete with the 35s readily. However (regretably) politics and cronies got in the way and the Super Hornet program was chosen... which under delivered and can't replace F15s strike or keep up with 22s
Start asking myself how the F-14 would perform if it not just had modern weapons but also fly by wire. Granted, she`s not completly unstable like an F-16, but imagine taking off the workload to make her cooperative at high angles of attack. By now I`m super impressed how much potential this nearly half a century old airframe has. Especially for such a big and heavy bird.
The F-14 is actually very cooperative at very high angles of attack when you take into account when it was made and how much AOA planes of its time where pulling before the 14
It was amazing, and also I love your subtitle in this video, keep it doing for beginner's 👍 It's not need to mention that f14 was awesome in this fight except the last round
In one corner we have the F-15C Eagle! Not a single loss in combat, but on the other side we have the F-14 Tomcat!! One of the best air to air fighters, who will win?!
When Shotgun is the opponent it generates a certain hype and eagerness to witness great air combat. Merge with an Apollo Rocket was the best part. 😂 Well done GS & Shotgun! 👌🔥
Suggested dogfights: As the Typhoon was the RAF answer to the FW 190, a fight between both would be interesting. MBB 339 vs Tomcat may also be interesting.
Whenever GS gets fired at, the missile fired turns on line. But whenever he fire a missile it either doesn't turn enough or the missile doesn't even track at all

Crazy to think one of our greatest adversaries has more than a few F14 tomcats. If anything popped off with them, I’d love to hear the stories of them being shot down by F15s and F22s. I imagine that’s who would be hitting the majority of them.
Jalil zandi alone has been reliably credited with shooting down 11 Iraqi aircraft. The victories include four MiG-23s, two Su-22s, two MiG-21s, and three Mirage F1s.
Surprising fight with regards to the F-14 booster thrust. Here's my sixth suggestion about the Ukrainian MiG-29 vs Su-57 Boss Dogfight. I'm curious about it and I hope everyone can be excited for the outcome. Outstanding content GS!

@2:40 it seems like the missile hit the F15 that just fired it, does DCS would consider this type of thing?
"We've merged with an Apollo rocket..."
Hey Heir! Didn't know you were into DCS. What a pleasant surprise :)
Heir likes DCS?? Are we going to see Captain Patchy the military aviator??

Damn well finally lookin forward to this video like the RUclips sidewinder hermit I am
FINALLY.
I knew your dedication wouldn't go unnoticed brother.
Not fair, Russian turrets fly higher 😩
I think it’s awesome that physics of a good flying aircraft actually looks beautiful as well. I believe the F14 personifies this in a big way.
I’ve always believed that the Tomcat was like the Classic American Muscle Car of aviation, it’s looks can kill and so can it’s performance
The fact that Iran had/has the most iconic American fighter jet gives the word "business" a full meaning
TopGun should of picked a different fighter😂
Iran got them before the 1979 revolution. In response to Soviet Mig-25's violating their airspace. Iran's government was really tight with Washington in those days, not everyone who asked got F-14's.
@@DirtyBird28 exactly. When they got them Iran was the closest ally in the region.
And let's not forget that the Iranians have gotten more kills in air to air combat with the f14 than the US Navy.
"Most Iconic" isn't going to the Navy. F-15, or later, F-16 walks away with that one, until the F-22 was popularized.
Ok, now we need American F-14A vs Iranian F-14 followed by F-14D vs Iranian F-14 to illustrate how the capabilities of the Tomcat improved with later models.

I would be really happy to see some WW2 dogfights as well.
This would be sick
That maneuver kill looked like a compressor stall. That’s tough.
I'm just picturing Javeed the Iranian version of Jester grabbing those punch out loops and prematurely ejecting.

I believe these aircraft are a lot closer in performance then people think, and that archer is deadly on the F-14, so that's scary for our airmen
