    Thank you for going into such detail on these. Probably one of the most comprehensive videos around. I have some Dragontail rods and a few from Tenkarabum. I really like the weight and feel of the Japanese rods especially with bare grips. Now that I know what I want in a top tier rod and with Chris retiring I have been trying to decide which American company to go with. After this great review I believe I have to go with one of the Tanuki rods. Thank you for this video Kris!

    Awesome collection, I would love to hear your overall favorite rod. If you could only have one, which would it be? From someone on a budget, this would be super interesting for me.

      I have often thought of it in May make that announcement at the end of my 2023 rod discussion. A lot of the choice would have to do with what type of water and fish I am pursuing.

    Hey Kris - Checked out this video again, been thinking about the darth quattro. How soft is the 5-5 flex? If you had to estimate a penny rating rating at longest length what would it be. I'm not a fan of rods with a noodle for a tip, hate the hook sets and honestly I don't detect the strike as well.

    • @tenkaraonthetrail
      @tenkaraonthetrail  Год назад

      I will take a closer look at it and maybe compare it to a rod I know like the golden trout or perhaps a makeshift measurement. It’s definitely not a noodle IMO. WTR definitely errors on the side of stiff relative to their rod ratings. There is a guy on FB (Greg Shafer) that has fished his and may have good feedback since I haven’t fished mine yet. If you do get one, I have the link and a 15% discount code. 👍

      @@tenkaraonthetrail For sure will use the link, and I agree they tend to be stiff regardless of their rating.

      I just sent you an email with a couple to follow with photos and short video. If I were a betting man, I would guess 14-15 pennies. I think if it were any stiffer it would not be as enjoyable at the shorter lengths. I’m glad I got the 5:5. Definitely not a noodle or whippy like some people consider the longer length of the Foxfire.

    I really like the look of the tankuki rods especially that carbon fiber handle. Can you tell me if the ninja headwaters rod has the same carbon fiber handle as the new Shinobi rod?

    • @tenkaraonthetrail
      @tenkaraonthetrail  2 года назад

      The headwaters rod is a little more glossy and smooth and not as textured but essentially the same thing… A flared part of the handle
