  • One of the most beautiful scenes in cinema history, and it's right inside a comedy! or it was a thriller? or an adventure movie? this film is pure brilliance.
This film is copyright of Twentieth Century-Fox.

Silver Streak is like an old friend that you see only occasionally - a friend that makes you smile, feel good, appreciate memories (both good and bad) - and makes you wonder why you don't see them more often. This scene is almost bland in so many ways, yet it's one of the first ones I think of when Silver Streak pops into my mind. Then all the other good scenes and line come flooding forward. Ray Walston, Rita Babtree and the airplane, the shoeshine guy, Clifton James as the sheriff - supporting roles were outstanding here!

I saw it in the days when one could hire a projector and the film and see it at home. See the final crunch as the train hits the terminus - then play the film in reverse for extra laughs.

So going by the backgrounds they basically went from Toronto to Calgary and back lol 😂

The ethereal score of "Silver Streak" was my 2nd introduction into the wondrous music of Maestro Henry Mancini (after the Peter Gunn and Mr. Lucky scores). "Hilly's Theme" exudes warmth, tenderness and introspection as few other musical pieces can. It marks the point when I began to actively search out any and everything crafted by Mancini.
