    It’s funny how Kristi gets accused of not being relatable while she talks to us casually from her bathroom and puts on a mask in an owl 🦉-esq pattern while wearing comfy sweats like a best friend would. Yes she’s in a a nicer house and has remodeled her life with money that she painstakingly earned as an influencer (which isn’t a common job) over many years; but there has been a very realistic timeline that has led her and us here. She’s still down to Earth. She’s stayed kind and grateful.. and she has never been hot-headed and full of herself like many others who have made it this far. I don’t get it. She’s very comfortably relatable to me. And my life is nothing like hers. I do look up to her and the life she’s chosen/built.. it’s what I want to a great degree. But she makes it attainable imho. Inspiration isn’t unrelatable unless you stifle your own self. ❤

      I hape Lupus Nephritis, and I'm going on 2 years after my diagnosis. I got to classes 4 and 5. I'm now on only 5mg of prednisone and still on my full dose of cell cept and on hydroxychloroquine and Pregabalin. My significant other wants kids someday, and I do too, but having Lupus is my biggest reason as to why I'm leaning towards not. I fear I will flare again, and since I almost died the first time, I'm scared. I don't know how long ill be taking Cell Cept. Or even if I don't need my meds anymore someday I fear that once I'm finally good, and I choose to carry a child it could put me back to square 1 and put me in a place where I can't care for my child. I also fear that I'll always need extra help and there's nothing wrong with that, I just.. what if I dont meet my child's needs..I appreciate you talking about it.. and I'm sorry I dumped all that..

      @@optimisticadventurer5492 first let me say I’m sorry and I really understand. Please don’t apologize for sharing this with me. Trying to respond concisely as I can. They said I wouldn’t be able to have children carry to term or might not even live to be 40 during the first couple years of my diagnosis. I’m 48 and have a very healthy 25 year old son. That being said i also have endometriosis and it did take awhile to get pregnant we weren’t really trying but we had been having unprotected sex for about 5 years but I had watched Roseanne and she talked about putting your legs up after sex lol and on our 2 year anniversary of being married I did it. And it worked!!! To my surprise I found out in October I was 4 months pregnant. Fortunately I had been doing well but I was put on bed rest and had to be induced early so my son was 5 weeks premature and weighed 5 lbs. he’s now 6’2 ! Soon as he got out of my body he took off!! And has always been healthy! My health was pretty good for about 10 years until he’s dad cheated and the stress really took a toll on me. Things declined over the next year or two and then I was able to go back to teaching for a few more years. I then had a seizure while driving and broke my neck back both my feet and I haven’t been able to work since. There’s definitely been times that I have felt guilty for not being able to be the mom I planned on being. However because of my health issues etc my son is such an amazing guy. So empathetic caring giving. He’s going to be great husband to his fiancé. I believe it was all part of God’s plan and that he has a plan for you too. Trust in him with Everything! Sending you love and prayers an abundance of blessings and health. What’s your name?

A good distraction from my pain and reminds me that things could be worse.

    I bet a million you don't know _exactly_ how your beef was raised. These farms are for-profit organizations and when it comes down to it, they'll choose money over animal welfare. They have to. Most beef is also a by-product of dairy farms and as you know there's a lot of unethical practices in that on top of the obvious killing of a young animal who would've otherwise had years and years of life left.
    You said: "everybody chooses their own diet or lifestyle". Why isn't this sentiment applied to choosing to use whatever makeup brands? It's just a choice right? Because like with makeup, most people can go the rest of their life without animal products and be just fine.

    As someone who raised dairy goats for 21 years….they are actually pretty tough. Our vet visits were few and far between and we had anywhere from 45-65 kids born a year. Do they require maintenance? Yes but so do all livestock. If you are milking them it is a lot of work. I truly don’t understand the constant fence jumpers LOL! We had 5ft no climb fencing and never once did any of them get out. Ours had no inclination to jump fences. But we also had standard size Nubians. I’ve heard Nigerians can be fence jumpers. Goats are lovely animals. Super personable and affectionate. Hand raised babies are especially personable. I say go for it!! You can do so much with their milk!

We're stopping at 1 because my husband's anxiety was so bad after having our first, I don't want to put him through that again and put extra stain on us as parents just to provide a sibling. Having parents who are happy and healthy is more important. Such a hard and personal decision though!

    Extended breastfeeding worked for us (so did extended co-sleeping as they went hand-in-hand). I nursed our daughter for 2.5 yrs, & would've probably gone much longer, but she essentially weaned herself. It didn't "just happen," tho. The shift came when, a few months before, my SIL had a _very_ difficult birth, became very ill, & we travelled up to help; primarily w/the care of my new nephew. I was pretty busy during that time, & although I noticed that I wasn't nursing her as often, I also wasn't refusing her when she asked. She just wasn't asking as frequently as usual.
    After we arrived back home, she continued asking less & less frequently until she stopped asking at all. _However,_ she had long ago laid claim to my breasts, & took great comfort in them for another year+; pitching a fit if, for _any_ reason, I wouldn't allow her full & free access to them. There was a *big* difference between nursing in public (which I did anywhere, anytime) & my damn-near full sentence-speaking toddler crawling underneath my shirt, not to partake of sustenance, but rather to hold, play with, & mush her little face into my boobs!

    Thank you for talking about your diet and thoughts around it, I'm in a much similar mindset. I consider myself vegetarian, and was only a vegetarian for around 10 years. Then when I met my fiance I got into eating fish occasionally, and today I probably only eat fish around once a week, if that. So yeah I still consider myself vegetarian primarily instead of pescatarian. I think we get too caught up in labels of "vegan" "vegetarian" "pescatarian" etc. Like you said, it's too black and white. I think it's much more attainable to even eat LESS meat on a daily/weekly basis for most people versus going full on vegan or vegetarian. And that's still a great accomplishment imo, if you cut out half the meat you eat for instance. Or, getting your meat, eggs, milk from ethical, free range farms, that's a hell of a lot better than getting it from commercial farming. Berating people for eating meat just doesn't help, and often pushes people away from wanting to do any of it.

    • @sara_gillett
      @sara_gillett Год назад

      @H Yeah I will blame those people, and you know why? Because blaming people for eating meat is pointless. A lot of people out there will call people who eat meat animal killers, or murderers, or heartless. And it's not going to change their opinions or actions, I'll tell you that. Its like trying to convince someone to be religious when they're not. We need to focus on having open conversations with people and not force our beliefs and opinions on them. Like instead of saying, "you need to be vegan because what you're doing is terrible and heartless" talk to them about why you chose to be vegan without any labels or judgement. Encourage people to think about the benefit of eating less meat per week, or getting their meat, eggs and milk from better, more sustainable farms/places. But never judge them for their decision to eat meat, never name call. That person is going to be way more likely to change their habits if you are open and non-judgemental. Name calling will not make that person say, "oh you're right, I am an animal killer, guess I better stop eating meat" like people just don't work that way lol. And people are generally more open to making small changes, like eating less meat. People are way less likely to make drastic changes to their diet, like being vegan or vegetarian. It's just not realistic or desirable for a lot of people. If everyone in the US ate half the meat they do now that's a win imo.

I believe little "insignificant" similarities like these show cosmic connections and you have once again confirmed that yes, I will be watching and rewatching your videos for all time, lol. I love your old makeup videos, and I love your new homesteading-gardening-idgaf-rawKristi vibes. You're awesome, don't listen to the haters! I had a really awful first pregnancy. High-risk, super medicalized, in the middle of the pandemic and that ended in being induced at 37w. I wanted a second child but could not BEAR the idea of being pregnant again. I would have chosen getting punched over going through pregnancy again. But I wanted a second child, I just wanted to skip straight to labour!! And it wasn’t fair to myself, my husband or
    my son to get pregnant dreading it this much. After a few months of therapy and talking through the trauma and journaling and opening up to loved ones, I finally felt at peace with doing it again. Now I’m pregnant and I’m at peace. Not *loving* it per se, but definitely not feeling that awful dread so it’s been peaceful. All of this to say, your feelings are valid. Carrying a child and postpartum life is HARD AS HELL. prioritizing your mental and physical health is so important. ❤

    I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but the beauty standards are such bullshit. People who are conventionally beautiful have sometimes had awful and abusive things said and done to them because of their "beauty". And they have genuinely wished they were "ugly" so that those things didn't happen to them. Am I saying this doesn't happen to people who aren't conventionally beautiful? No, nor am I saying this is always the case. But we might progress better as a community when we can acknowledge our physical skin is not what makes us.

    I saw that vid too about the goats being hardest and I wasn't surprised, They're hard to milk, into everything, eating everything, very destructive animals. Unless you have a few miles of pasture that's securely walled off (6' cement block), and don't plan to milk them, then sure, they're cute to watch running around, but on your property? No, your garden would be toast and you'd have no grass or flowers. I wouldn't do it. On your property, I'd only do chickens and maybe a turkey or two.

    It’s interesting how kids are so different when it comes to breastfeeding. My son was over it around a year old. He loved it up until then, I enjoyed it as well, and had a pretty easy time with it which I was grateful for. But he just naturally weaned himself off of it. And your kid is still going strong at 2 and a half and some kids want to even longer. It’s interesting. Just another way that our children differ so much so we shouldn’t compare them. Thanks for sharing kristi! And thanks for being relatable! I’m my opinion at least lol

    That answer to the vegan question was so thoughtful. I just gave you a thumbs up. It was measured, sensible, realistic, and stable. We have been eating animals since the dawn of man. We were much closer and aware of our meals prior to the various technological and industrial revolutions (factory farming put a wild distance between us and what we put inside us) but we can still enjoy the meat of many mammals by sourcing them the way you do: seeking out farmers, understanding their protocol, and being grateful for our food. Vegans can be so disgustingly dogmatic; it puts so many people off the supposedly "good" message (it isn't really "good" - it's just a virtue signifier used by someone often unaware of the other various ethical conundrums of their consumption style). Good on you for not cowering to that question. Strange query, bitchy tone. Not worth any time but the fact that you gave them an intelligent and unapologetic response with various points to consider, that was great. Thanks for sharing your philosophy on the matter.
