Santa Rosa de Lima reveals the secret of a virtuous life

This is the story of Santa Rosa de Lima, who was born in Peru in 1586 and died in 1617. Rosa from an early age gave her life to God as a layperson in the Third Order of Santo Domingo. She was canonized in 1671, and became the first saint born in Latin America, patron saint of Peru, florists, nurses and artisans. The strength of character, unique personality and also the virtues of this young woman surpasses the centuries and still serves today as a balm of inspiration to hearts that wish to follow the path of the Love of God. Rosa was baptized with the name of Isabel Flores y Oliva. And who gave her the name “Rosa” was her nanny, a lady called Mariana, who was of indigenous origin.
