Playground and construction zones make sense. On a highway where the speed limit is too low is just a cash grab for sure.

I find those billboard-like trailers on the side of the road that say " Your speed is...' work well as a reminder. I notice all the time that speed limits are basically ignored on the main roads by most drivers.

What a speeder gets Penalized hard working or not, you the driver has the choice to speed or not to speed. NOT A CASH GRAB ONLY a maroon would say that.
I FOR ONE SAY PUT UP 2900 MORE PHOTO RADAR. SO CAN LOWER MY TAX BILL. THANK YOU NOT PAYING
    ATTENTION.

I love it when my husband is driving MY car 🚗 the ticket comes and he is waving it-in my face saying where did you speed this time and I look at the photo and it’s his mug behind the wheel! Felt like sweet justice for me that day 🤪

All good Alberta. The cost of health care, insurance, clean up, and miscellaneous expenses should greatly exceed the tickets. (might make a few lawyers wealthy too). I anticipate an uptick in business in Edmonton from this. 😂

Probably be higher if Edmonton took off its tax on bags and stuff i won't step a foot in there till we can go to a takeout or grocery story a not get charged a unconstitutional tax on a bag

Photo radar should be at School Zones, Playground Zones and Construction Zones with increased fines in these areas.
Red light photo should stay at intersections.
Police, Sheriffs and should be out on highways and Police/Peace Officers out in cities/towns.

How about a parking ticket? Isn't it also cash cow? Let's eliminate it too. Is it the right approach to remove the tool if someone misuses the tool rather than educate or punish someone? I don't see any alternate safety measure after removing the photo radar.

The great majority of drivers have little to no training and drive very badly. Photo radar doesn’t do anything to address that problem. There’s plenty of people on the planet and it doesn’t hurt to thin the herd. The mentality of many on the roads seems to be that they will get where they are going as quickly as possible or die trying and they don’t care which result they achieve.

Weird logic. If they don’t slow down accidents then why bother with speed restrictions?! Free for all!

I have to laugh A$$ hole mark newfeld said in one statement that it is not a cash cow in another he said this will deduce revenue. Newfeld also said there were 14000 radar photo radar ticket on beddington trail and there were no accidents. That means 14000 people were speeding.

Maybe they should plow the streets and paint the crosswalks in Edmonton if they want to improve road safety. People in Edmonton drive VERY SLOW. The slowest city I've ever been to. There is no such thing as a fast lane in Edmonton. Its full of SLOW drivers.

    • @Herman-b4q
      @Herman-b4q 3 дня назад

Well, Edmonton is not Toronto, so even driving 50 or 60, you can get from one side to the other.
Unlike Toronto, which has the 400,401,425,QEW, and yet 2 hours to drive in mind, bending traffic.
Hey, To the die hard speeders, in this day and age of Trudeau carbon tax inflation, if you can afford the gas and the tickets, go ahead and speed but stop the cash grab BS.

If drivers are getting speeding tickets from photo radar and you say it's the slowest city how can that be. Plowed streets or not there still going over the speed limit, when they get caught it's a cash grab. So if the streets are so bad why are they still speeding.

    • @danielledanielle3566

@@Herman-b4q Other provinces don't have photo radar. That's how. The photo radar will ding you if you are 2km over the speed limit. Because of this, (or just because), most drivers drive well under the speed limit. This doesn't have to be a comments section debate. Just go for a drive in Edmonton. Then the debate is over. Cheers

The facts of photo radar are exactly what Devin is saying. Tbe facts police are worried more about speeding instead of use it force to protect our citizens. We have town a cities reducing speed to where most vehicles can barely idol through.
It's entrapment in my opinion. We have cars that for the most part can detect everything.
As a driver for 40 years I can say in my opinion with million or so kms under my belt.
In the last ten years not only has the population increased exponentially the roads stay the same. Most highways in Alberta are very well kept. Its astonishing how many accidents you see on dry roads.
As a truck driver what I see is lack of training, training and understanding of simply traffic rules.
The biggest problems i see is cars, and truckers in passing lanes when unnecessary. People instead of allowing a big truck or slower moving vehicles to be able to regain the driving lane the impatience of 2 to 5 secs cause a dangerous situation.
Speed isn't the problem. Situational awareness severe lack of triangle of new Canadian citizens over priced driving schools that most people can't afford.
Even then under qualified staff that teach the bare minimum to understand a vehicle or driving conditions.
The reliance on technology is huge factor.
I say we need to one highway 2 needs to be fully widen to 6 lanes between calgsry and Edmonton. All the money wasted on traffic circles where seriously traffic isn't a big issue. Love to know that budget number.
Police need to stop being a danger to public as well. Traffic stop should not be done on a highway they should implement where a traffic stop is required a driver will put on 4 ways to acknowledge police then proceeds to the nearest cross road over pass or parking area that is well lits for safety. This could be possible by putting 3 truck length pullout on every major highway. These will be designed to conduct traffic stops.
Ticket slow moving traffic in the passing lanes if in lane for any distance greater than 300m after passing.
The danger out there is not the speed it's the 50 km difference in speed on highways in city it just a severe lack of understanding road conditions the lights are horrible traffic circles are the dumbest most expensive solutions.
