Hello, could I have the references of the nozzle n ° 8 custom please? thank you
The Link sounds amazing. Then the switch to the Selmer immediately hit me with memories of Joe. Great video brother.
Thank you so much, that means a lot! I feel honoree hearing about your memories of Joe.
Who's Joe?
@@classified9668 Joe Henderson
Bit of a cheeky ending.
Eyyyy
You can’t even imagine haw much i envy you... this is a real paradise!
Thanks! Lots more videos coming
Thanks for this! I much prefer the Custom 8 over the others, probably because I play a Slant. It would be fun to have a glow-in-the-dark Slant.
Thank you for such an informative, succinctly structured, and well-played mouthpiece test.
thank you! more on the way:)
The three last ones, especially the Link and the Selmer, sound great with those two each having its own unique character. Nice playing. This is a clinic in why not to get a digitally made mouthpiece and why to search for a vintage one. Materials, craftsmanship and art actually matter for someone seeking his/her own unique voice.
This is the Mother of all Syos reviews!! Thanks dude!! ✌🏾
Selmer
piece sounds great !
Thanks for the spanish subtitles !!! Makes all more understandable 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hoping to do more!
I was so surprised they have a Leland whitty one! I love badbadnotgood! An inspiration to me
Interesting comparison! You sound the best on the D'addario!
thank you!
For me:
The Daro Behroozi sounded like it has a really nice attack on fast passages. The tonging sounded very crisp.
D'Addario - probably the best tone for jazz. Otto Link had the most modern sound and in terms of tone was my favorite. The rest sound "plain", while the Link really has an interesting character. Most of the SYOS's sounded kinda the same to me (except the one I mentioned). Very minor differences...
To me, Daro's and Leland's are pretty similar. Daro's had better attack than Leland's, but Leland's seemed better in altissimo and subtones.
Very impressed with the mouthpieces, and great playing there Sax Spy man!!!
Gostei muito da sonoridade da boquilha modelos: Scott Paddock & Daro Behroozi, muito top!
My choice would be Daddario, thanks.
The James Arben, Tivon Pennicott were best of Syos, but best of all the Otto Link Florida USA 7* did it for me. I've always preferred O/Links, but then I like the Getz darker quartet sound. I'd like to try the latest Vintage O/Link sometime.
Excellent video in all aspects!!! Very impressed with the mouthpieces and that sax man too!!!!!!
Thank you kindly!
I didn’t know they glowed! I’ll have to try that with my Michael Wilbur model.
I'm not sure if you'll be able to summon a sax demon from down under like I did, that takes a certain game (who's name is part of the secret giveaway) :)
Thank you. This is great. I play on several SYOS tenor MPs. Each for different styles or acoustic setting. It would be of great help to me
if you would play a melody slowly pianissimo in two octaves on each MP. Prelude to a Kiss at tempo 48 for the quarter note.Fast and high is great but
not all of my gigs need that. Keep up the good work!
thanks!
Great review thanks! To me the D'Addario had the best fat tenor sound without being thin. And then your pink custom model. But the Tivon model has some lush nice sound also. The roll over piece I didn't like at all. Sounded a bit like the sound was being choked... Keep those videos coming :)
thank you,!
It would be real helpful if you'd give us your take on the pieces, since it's your sound image that determines your tone quality to a large extent. The differences tend to be too insignificant to matter to listeners and players are not likely to choose what others prefer, but what they like according to what the mouthpiece feels like. Thanks.
Thank you so much for making this video!
thank you for your support!
Can you do an alto syos mouthpeice comparison against other peices more synonymous with alto sax like the myer or the jody jazz hr star, i want to figure out wich one to purchase and want to make sure i spend my money wisely thankyou! Loved the video btw you sound amazing
I'd love to! I have a vintage NYUSA Meyer, Retro Revival New Yorker, Morgan, V16, Meyer G, SK Modus and a few other Meyer like pieces!
@@SaxSpy i would love to see this
They all sound great to me, which one do you think would work best in a loud funk band situation?
The Scott Paddock was certainly made for that. In order, I would say Scott, Ryan, then Chad is the crossover piece, Leland and Daro. Daro has a really small chamber, but the huskiness is very unique and not necessarily the vibe you're going for. Be sure to use my code to help support the channel!
Merci beaucoup pour cet essai comparatif très intéressant ! Ma préférence va au Short shank et au d'addario , nettement.
Interesting comment that your half-price SYOS came in blue. So did mine (Dayna Stephens 7*). They must have had a lot of blue plastic in stock at that time. :)
Hey I'm fine with that!
@@SaxSpy Me too, I think I got the colour I would have picked, had I been given the choice and the lig matched, which was very cool! I'm actually in the process of swapping the mouthpiece for a D'Darrio Sect Jazz, though as I think the SYOS is a bit too 'in your face' for me.
Select Jazz D7M achei demais o timbre dessa boquilha!
Obrigado! Tive quase seis meses com o D7M, acho que tem grande som, também
I’m debating between the Chad Lb, Daro Behroozi, Tivon Pennicott, and the Dan Forshaw (which wasn’t on this list) which one did you prefer?
Chad LB
In my opinion, you have set a very difficult task for the listener to discern much difference between the many mouthpieces you have tested, mainly because you are a very good player. Comments about ease of playing/resistance would help. I am quite happy with my Otto Link metal mouthpiece on my Selmer Mark VI tenor.
Thanks! I'm working on another and I'll include more of my opinion
Thanks for this. Very interesting.
Hope you found it informative!
D'addario killed all the syos marketing in 1 second
To be fair, this isn't the stock D'addario. SK worked on it and I'm doing a video on it soon!
I like the d'addario best - a richer tone - although i did enjoy the trane vibes of the link
Does the syos ligature fit on your DaDdario? If it does I think I'm gonna cop a white lig for my marble DaDdario. Great vid!
I just tried it and it works for me!
I liked the gray one...James Arben? Cheers from Nebraska!
yep!
My first guess would be “started”
Be aware if you live in the US and try one of these mpcs and return it because you don't like it you will get shorted $50 for shipping due to the exchange rate.
Any thoughts on Alto pieces doing the pop/funk solos in a live band situation?
Hi, I've seen some comments regarding a giveaway, but don't see the question/rules. Is it still on?
It's passed, thanks! Feel free to follow the instagram page for future events!
Oh no..not the hammer!! LOL!
The D'addario and the Link. All the pieces that weren't SYOS sound better than SYOS. They all have a "plastic" quality I don't like.
Nine mouthpieces @ $200 each. Are they returnable?
Yes, 30-day money back. Make sure to use code SPYSYOS to save $10!
Eu quero a vermelha.
Ryan Devlin, more expresive!
“Saving”
it does start with S
The SYOS barrels are large, so many ligatures won’t work.
The tenors I have are the standard hard rubber size. I used a Selmer 2 Screw, which is one of my favorite for hr
I like Ryan Devin but I would never see myself play one of these. Looks to much like a toy...
They have black and white, if color is the issue. I wouldn't discredit them solely because of appearance, but aesthetic is certainly important and many people overlook that.
Its all in your playing - no audible difference to non playing listenerand i suspect you could make a similar tone on anhthing!
thank you!
How many guesses do we get for the giveaway?
take as many shots as you like here!
Oooh okay cool
Photo bomb mouthpieces
OTTO LINK
They sound great, but there's no way I'd play a dayglo mouthpiece. It looks ridiculous.
Mark Tyler The ivory and black are options!
@@SaxSpy Ah okay, I'll consider them then!
“Still” or “Silver” hahaha sorry going a bit overboard
ha think of the glow in the dark part. what's the name of that game?
Uh oh, I didn’t know it was a game haha, guess I’m too young.
2:21 Come on! It's Orangeee!
SYOS are really reflective and bright and my Sony tends to overexpose the red channel, making it look orange :p
What material is SYOS using? I’ve heard many of the materials may not be good for putting in mouth
ABS. What you heard is probably more related to the recent metal toxicity study in chinese mouthpieces and some american and vintage brands, causing them to require labels in California.
Sax Spy it was PLA I was told to beware of. Thanks for the information
oh, okay! Here's what I was talking about for reference.
sugalmouthpieces.com/chinese_imported_mpc
Sax Spy oh boy, contains lead and other toxins YAY! Thankfully my Rico Graftonite 3C should arrive soon from Amazon :) I play my Tenor then my Roland Aerophone is like so free flowing in comparison.
Not the SYOS, but the chinese ones do, yes.
Soloist all the way
it is what Potter played on the recording!
Oh guess it was simon lol
“Sent”
Yep, they all sound like saxophones. Maybe they feel and sound different to the player but I think 99.99% of people listening online can't tell the difference. I would just get the cheapest one that feels good to play.
In this case, D7M would be the cheapest
Definitely can tell a difference but the average ear probably wouldn't know what to listen for.
@@collizma accurate
Do you know where i can a used one?
FB groups possibly, don't see them a lot
D’addario sounds so rich and full...
thank you!
You want a good sound get a good reed.
Boston Sax have worked great for me so far! I'll be reviewing other brands coming up
Do you give online lessons?
I do.Feel free to reach out on instagram
Поработай на сабтоне в нижнем диапазоне побольше !
mine sounds awful
which did you get?
Take the A Tenor mouthpiece. *8. Playing *3 reeds. I find that it plays with nice full sound at first but becomes harder to control the longer you play it. Not the same with my Otto Link metal *8. @@SaxSpy
How much do they cost.?
Around $180 for Signature and $280 for custom... $10 or more off with code SPYSYOS
just a matter of time. chinese copy maybe in rainbow colors will flood amazon and the rest...
You'd think, they've been around a while! But Meyer and Link copies make much more on Ebay
Bitte in deutsch übersetzen
Ich werde sehen, ob mir jemand dabei helfen kann
Simon
nice but too late :( answer was already revealed
Daddario sounds best to me
check out the later video I did on the D'Addario variations!
Sorry....Syos misses the mark on sound.
Loud and harsh
Don't rely on this guys playing.
Try it yourself...
That reed sounds a touch soft on most of these pieces. For me, if it sounds great out of the box, it will be dead in 3 days. It sounds really good on the D’Addario. The SYOS pieces sound a little thin. If you are ever looking for a Chad LB in a 7*(slime green) DM me.
